Can't believe MLB allowed these fools to build a open air stadium in Alaska aka Minnesota.The MLB needs to make sure that stadiums in cold weather states have retractable roofs!!!!!
@jdlund Why a Retractible Roof?! Let the Vikings play in the Snow and Cold Weather just like back in the Fran Tarkenton and the Purple People Eater days. The only way the Vikings are going to go back to their winning ways is to not get used to the warm climate of the indoors!
Very few teams have open cold weather facilities so one or another they should be use to it. Also, I realize people from Minnesota are use to the snow, but that doesn't mean they necessarily enjoy sitting outside on cold ass days.
No reason to make the product the team is trying to sell less desirable. Also, you'll never get considered for things like hosting the SB without it, which is certainly profitable.
I suppose if your team were to excel in snow and fans don't mind, then maybe.

Its about 2 miles from the upper east side which is still major part of the city. County or Borough? You have no clue what you're talking about. The bronx is a part of the city. The property value is still 3 to 4 times that of downtown minneapolis.
It's 1.3 billion because the Yankees have nothing better to do than flash their money around to prove how big their penises are. Having all the money in the world doesn't guarantee an all-star team and having an expensive stadium just proves you're a chump. Im actually disappointed that the Twins are going outside next year cause ticket prices will be higher and the weather doesnt always cooperate, especially considering its minnesota. The Metrodome was horrible. I can remember being sucked out of the stadium at the end of a game. Well now, that was a brilliant move not putting a retractable dome on the stadium.
Jim Caple over at ESPN made a list of the 100 most important American sports venues. He ranked the Metrodome at number thirty "Because as unloved and unappreciated as it is, the Metrodome is the only stadium to ever host a Super Bowl and a World Series and a Final Four. Could you be more ignorant!! It snows on average about twice in April and this October we got an inch of snow. May-Sept have average temps in the mid 70s to high 80s.. some of the nicest weather in the country which is why WE WANTED AN OUTDOOR STADIUM TO BEGIN WITH. Minnesota is not Alaska people!! As far as April and October go temps in the 40's and 50's (which is the average)will not kill you.

I went to a pair of ST games at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers a few months ago, and I can't wait for outdoor baseball in Minnesota. However, as far as this year goes, this could be a fun summer.
Calling it Kirby Puckett Field wouldn't be right in my opinion.. just for the fact that there are guys like Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Rod Carew.... ya know what I'm saying?
It's not a bad idea, but they might as well go with a coproration name so they can get some more funding for it.. at least that's how I think it works... And the stadium isn't just nice... it's beautiful. :)

This stadium will be awesome end of May-September, but those early and late months will be rough... think if the Twins ever make the world series! Also it'll be nice to have seats that actually face home plate and not the 408 in center field

Could you be more ignorant!! It snows on average about twice in April and this October we got an inch of snow. May-Sept have average temps in the mid 70s to high 80s.. some of the nicest weather in the country which is why WE WANTED AN OUTDOOR STADIUM TO BEGIN WITH. Minnesota is not Alaska people!! As far as April and October go temps in the 40's and 50's (which is the average)will not kill you.

goblue237: banwagon fan?!? whats the hell is that suppose to mean? i lived in minnesota for 12 years before my family moved to wisconsin 5 years ago. so i was born and raised all minnesota sports and but for football one side of my family was packer fans the other viking fans, so was both a viking fan and a packer fan. then when i moved i changed to just a packer fan. i will never be a banwagon fan. i always stick with my teams no matter how good or bad they do.

We don't need no stinkin roof!!! This is Minnesota. If you're cold, put on an extra layer, if it's raining, bring an umbrella. Rain never killed anyone. Boston, NY, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and Denver all have open air stadiums and a similar April/May/October climate. Do you hear them whining about not having a roof? NO!

It's not a bad idea, but they might as well go with a coproration name so they can get some more funding for it.. at least that's how I think it works... And the stadium isn't just nice... it's beautiful. :)
