I'm glad to hear "Merry Christmas" instead of happy holidays. This is obviously back before political correctness (I see it was 1983).

Do they still do this? I've never heard of this until NPR mentioned this just a few moments ago.

There will be no way the WPIX Tv team could cough up the monies needed to secure any license..There's way too many companies involved!

Unfortunately, THIS version will never see a dvd release because of copywrite issues. Very sad. Thank goodness for YouTube

I bought th yule log DVD......it's pretty cool, you can watch with songs or just the crackling of the fire and put it on a loop so it doesn't stop.

I Just Love Christmas, I Just Love Decoraiting The Chtistmas Tree, and Wrapping Presents, The Best Thing I Love About Christmas Is, Christmas Eve. I would be in my warm pj's, and would be eating a bowl of oyster stew, and watch, the christmas movie, "A Christmas Story".

@elvishector1 ... unfortunately, due to getting permission from all of the artists/labels, etc, it probably will never be released on dvd. The creator of The Yule Log has been trying in vein for yrs to do just that...

This made my Christmas. I'm from NJ and grew up with the WPIX Yule Log. I couldn't get Yule Log this year because I now live in Texas. Found this and my Christmas was made much nicer.  Thanks!

I just love Christmas, It's my favorite Holiday, I Just Loved Helping My Mother Get Our Artifical Christmas Tree, and The Decrations out too, I also Loved Helping Decraiting The Tree, I Even Remember a time when my mother, father, my lil sister used to drive all the way to south dakota to spend christmas with my grandparents, I also remember my mother made me practice reciring part of the christmas poem, "Twas the night before christmas" to my grandmother. I just can't wait for christmas.

I also remember having these crystals for the real fire place that you would throw in and they would make colorful sparkles that were like fireworks in the fireplace, hadn't thought about that for decades until this vid jogged my memory, anyone rembember having them?

If you were a kid growing up on Long Island in the 70's you can't help but remember flipping around the tv and passing the yule log. Today when you tell people that have never heard of it that there was a tv show that just showed a roaring fire all day long they just laugh and don't really believe you. But here it is in all its glory, don't burn yourself and make sure to put a metal screen in front of the tv so you don't start a fire in the house.

We still watch the yule log on VHS, it is a tired old tape, but it would not be Christmas without it.
