Once Howard took over Shalamar he even got rid of Leon Sylvers he never did produce them again smh, I mean brother Heweet was a part of the classic lineup we know but damn he wasn't Shalamar by any means cause the group with Gerald was poppin'. Unsung it was obvious tip toed around what was really going on. Thank you Jody for this series and filling in the gaps. Dick Griffey took over Soul Train Records, and like he said in Unsung only saw Shalamar as a means to an end and I guess that was the beginning of the end he didn't value the members, only Howard who ended up being the poison that killed the group in the end no matter how much Unsung tried to edit but it was like Whoa he got a milly and you and Jeff zip and yall was originals

Just saw a re-broadcast of the Unsung-Shalamar episode. Because they are gearing up for the new ones starting in January. Ms. J... I was so happy to stumble across these episodes you put together to expand more on what happened. Thankyou for taking the time to do this. @jwatley1 I always find myself coming right back to watch these unfiltered video's from time to time even though i don't post anymore. And the video view count grew to over 40 thousand. A lot of my posts i did remove though, the ones that i felt were mean and distracting from the topic.

I feel Miss Watley should be commended for her accommodation of granting Griffey his wishes. I really didn't get into Shalamar . I just loved the music. Alot of work gose into keeping a group together. Hell when you get one together it's magic. For a time everything works out , but just like anything a time comes when it ends. My memory of Shalamar is just the music , and I thank you for that.
my love for Shalamar is as big as anyone else, but I respect Jody's decision and the Watley kingdom of success she's built from ground zero. I found UNFILTERED informative and for those who MISSED the philosophy of her time shared with the group and her musical history in the business won't get it and never will. Hello Jody, I noticed you said that the episdoe of "unsung" was more like an infomercial of the group. If it makes you feel better, I didn't really know about Shalamar until after the episode. I knew who you were though, because I have an 80s compilation with "Don't You Want Me" on it. Sadly, I didn't experience the 80s, but the music is universal. Take care:)
who cares, I didn't really know about the group all this is unimportant information I guess I thought that the whole idea of the show was to give someone like me who was born in the 80/s and maybe heard a few of your songs and get a lesson of your brief history your music. I couldn't believe I said it, but onstage my humor and spontaneity always comes out in certain situations. To this day I meet adults whose "Grad Night" and "Senior Night" I was a part of as teens or younger. It's really nice to be associated with happy and fun moments - I'm grateful and humbled. Once Howard took over Shalamar he even got rid of Leon Sylvers he never did produce them again smh, I mean brother Heweet was a part of the classic lineup we know but damn he wasn't Shalamar by any means cause the group with Gerald was poppin'. Unsung it was obvious tip toed around what was really going on. Thank you Jody for this series and filling in the gaps. Dick Griffey took over Soul Train Records, and like he said in Unsung only saw Shalamar as a means to an end and I guess that was the beginning of the end he didn't value the members, only Howard who ended up being the poison that killed the group in the end no matter how much Unsung tried to edit but it was like Whoa he got a milly and you and Jeff zip and yall was originals

I feel Miss Watley should be commended for her accommodation of granting Griffey his wishes. What hurts most in this Shalamar camp is that Watley was the underdog, turning out to become a world champ by knockout with a sucker punch to the Boys club of Solar. Everyone's screaming FORGIVE, but many never acknowledged her many attempts and offers to her ex-partners for a reunion on her CD's and live shows, but yet, folk have painted her in black and titled her THE VILLAIN, not knowing all facts.

I really didn't get into Shalamar . I just loved the music. Alot of work gose into keeping a group together. Hell when you get one together it's magic. For a time everything works out , but just like anything a time comes when it ends. My memory of Shalamar is just the music , and I thank you for that.

Hello Jody, I noticed you said that the episdoe of "unsung" was more like an infomercial of the group. If it makes you feel better, I didn't really know about Shalamar until after the episode. I knew who you were though, because I have an 80s compilation with "Don't You Want Me" on it. Sadly, I didn't experience the 80s, but the music is universal. Take care:)

who cares, I didn't really know about the group all this is unimportant information I guess I thought that the whole idea of the show was to give someone like me who was born in the 80/s and maybe heard a few of your songs and get a lesson of your brief history your music. She seems ungrateful to have even appeared on the show, they even let her highlight her career work what a waste. From her humble beginnings, long before TV1, her profile was high, Soul train, Shalamar and afterward. my HS senior trip to Fla c/o1990...u performed and my class was in front stage and your halter top started comin down and me and bout 10 of my classmates started yellin "Take It Off"...u made our TRIP b/c you looked at us, laughed and said "Im not Madonna"...we all LOVED it...and then u started singing mostly to us b/c we were the liveliest or rowdiest crowd there..of course we were the only predominantly black class there...we talked about you the rest of trip...haha..so cool...

@DKF76 There are some moments that are never forgotten, even for performers - and I do remember that, lol! I couldn't believe I said it, but onstage my humor and spontaneity always comes out in certain situations. To this day I meet adults whose "Grad Night" and "Senior Night" I was a part of as teens or younger. It's really nice to be associated with happy and fun moments - I'm grateful and humbled. I encourage everyone who visits Part One, to take time to watch each episode. If you're impatient start at Part 8 featuring former Shalamar lead singer Gerald Brown (Take That To The Bank) who was excluded from UnSung and then work your way back. Part One is as the description states "why" I decided to do this series and my initial thoughts when I watched the documentary. Thank you.

I don't thing your carry that weight around of holding grudges and hate- Your just telling your side.
