  • Wow, thanks @winwinkoh and @saintkelvin86 I now appreciate this piece more now that I know the story behind it.

  • 春蠶到死絲方盡 蠟炬成灰淚始乾

  • this tune deplicts the various stages in a human life, the human nature coming from different mood changes and finally breaking through. All these life conditions are intepreted in the tune just as natural metamorphosis !

  • I LOve it!!!!!!

  • this song depicts the ardous journey of the silk road merchants when they travel to obtain silk from foreign lands. the front portion, the slow part actually imitates the chimes and ticking of an old clock as time reverses for a thousand years. the fast portion depicts the glorious scenes of india and china during that era.

  • Great interpretation, but I doubt that's the author's intent. Since the Chinese title is "spring silkworm" and it supposed to in a series of compositions calls "human life". so perhaps it's about metamorphosis

  • well.. that's what my friend told me. she performed this piece solo a few months back..

  • wow he is great but on the description why are there all little boxes? thanks

  • i think each of the little boxes is supposed to be a Chinese character.

  • HAHAHA, there are so many stupid people on earth.

  • the lun technique takes a while to practice but it is simple once you get it down!=]

  • this is stunning!!! who is the composer?

  • The composer is the soloist himself! haha...

  • I dont play pipa but judging from the way he plays it, this song is super hard.

  • It is one of the hardest Chinese instruments to play because the finger technqiues are difficult to learn, like the 'lun' technique, where your five digits continuously pluck the strings very quickly without break.

  • ummm.. this song is not called spring silk, hehe it ain't direct translation. (can't blame you for that) it actually means silkworm!

  • This man is a master player of the highest order. Amazing!

  • Why isn't the video loading for me? O_o

  • Oh, I can see it now (finally)!
