this tune deplicts the various stages in a human life, the human nature coming from different mood changes and finally breaking through. All these life conditions are intepreted in the tune just as natural metamorphosis !
this song depicts the ardous journey of the silk road merchants when they travel to obtain silk from foreign lands. the front portion, the slow part actually imitates the chimes and ticking of an old clock as time reverses for a thousand years. the fast portion depicts the glorious scenes of india and china during that era.
Great interpretation, but I doubt that's the author's intent. Since the Chinese title is "spring silkworm" and it supposed to in a series of compositions calls "human life". so perhaps it's about metamorphosis
It is one of the hardest Chinese instruments to play because the finger technqiues are difficult to learn, like the 'lun' technique, where your five digits continuously pluck the strings very quickly without break.
