Because it's cheaper, more economical and better. It's not as fast as more expensive versions but this ain't meant for racing either. Engine is great, I got 2.0d version.
Well idk about BMW but my 1.9tdi golf is perfectly quick enough to 130mph! but then these big BMW suvs are much heavier so perhaps the 3l D would be better in that situation.

Why doesn't it redline at 7,000 RPM's? What is that 5,000 RPM crap? My 2007 X3 redlines at 7,000 RPM's.
