U.S. citizens should fear the growing wealth disparity. It'll be a few haves, and many have nots. They won't need unskilled workers at all soon. It'll be real estate and factory (or other automated system) owners and everyone will have a place to live and something to eat on the owner's whims only. Well, the American system has those problems. Those problems are much worse in Europe where healthcare is rationed and bureaucracies decide your fate for you. Most citizens are forced to become double-insured etc. Europe also doesn't contribute much to medical innovation either comapred with the USA. America needs reform- it needs to strip away the insane restrictions on buying interstate insurance and the policy of tying insurance to your job through tax incentives

you are misinformed there has been little advancement from the u.s. in stem cell research due to laws against use of embryos, foreign medical research and drug makers are making just as many contributions to medicine. and even with supplemental insurance plans people do not know what kind of coverage they truly have until it hits the fan. and even with aflac and the like people are getting screwed.

People did rely on one another until the government decided to regulate malpractice and the courts allowed frivolous lawsuits, which in turn drove up doctors insurance premiums, driving up the price, and driving up our insurance premiums. It also forced not for profit hospitals that treated people without insurance to go under. Not for profit = charity... The government destroyed that, not the people.
