And if you like Billy Joel.

    Like it.

    Or else...

  • Kick ass song =)

  • Like, if you're listening in 1973

  • I'm a little confused now, which is the actual music video for this song? This one or the other one also titled official video? Anybody know for certain?

  • thanks love the song and the vid

  • like if you listening in 2012

  • The a managemer seems a lot fater in the other video aaaaaa

  • His Voice sounds so young here...No matter what though-he is still a 100000000 Star Singer!

  • This is what I listen while I wait for my porn to finish downloading.

  • One of my all time favourites. Great to see this live performance when he was a much younger man.

  • CLASSIC SONG:)

  • @pasy2006 Love to play this one on the piano.

  • guys don't worry. i'm 17 and i'm planning on listeninng to this music for a log time.

  • OMG I was only 18 when I fell in love with this, the lyrics touched me then I still dol

  • The only reason why there are 23 dislikes is because they are pissed that anything with "Justin Beiber" in the title has 10x as many hits, understandable

  • there is a lot of crap out there granted and most of the mainstream is crap and mass produced auto tuned rubbish but if you truly love music there is plenty of amazing musicians.. devendara banhart, mumford and sons, jack johnson, ben harper, xavier rudd, trevor hall, bright eyes, five wheel soul, kalai, iron and wine, benjamin franciss leftwich and thats jus to name a few. talent is out there if you know where to look :)

  • legend.

  • this song is a song of all times i´m just 14 years old and i like it also very much and will always keep loving this song it is a great song (sorry for my bad english i´m from holland)

  • I love the pop culture and stuff, it is the BOMB! But this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I don't understand why we can't all just like different stuff.

I love Taylor Swift and hate Bieber. I'm also a Green Day fan, but I also like Beethoven and Billy Joel. Why is that a problem? Thank you, @alrod66, for your insightful comment! :D

  • @pbrox4563 because taylors wift is a talentless bitch ;)

  • @schubladenbiene That was a joke, right? That better have been a joke...

  • @schubladenbiene @pbrox4563

I truly wouldn't say that Taylor Swift is a 'talentless bitch'.... Sure, she's not my taste in music, but she is definitely far better than most of the crap being produced nowadays.

  • It's weird I'm a hardcore NIRVANA fan, headbanging and all that good shit, but this is in my top 5 favorite songs of all time. :/

  • @DeepDownFear13 SAME! It's great

  • Always nice to be brought back in time and see something original!

  • I'm sorry, but, whoever disliked this song should have their ear drums punctured with a dull pencil. This song is an absolute classic.

  • The unspoken reality of society. It's not all peaches and cream. Everyone has SOME issue. Keep on keeping' on.

  • Uf!, Bravo

  • Awesome how Billy could write/perform such a MULTI layered, poignant song at such a young age. Haunting melody, memorable characters, fantastic lyrics. You find yourself wanting to know more of the backstories of the characters he's singing about. I'll always remember Billy like this. I cried when he got older.

  • PIANO MAN HAS A STORY OF SEVERAL PEOPLE TO LISTEN AND TODAY WE HAVE PARENTS WHO R BUSY WITH THEIR CAREERS AND THEY GIVE FAST FOOD TO THEIR KIDS.... EVERYTHING IS FAST U CAN UPLOAD YOUR SONG SO FAST LIKE A FAST DIVORCE WE HAVE NO TIME TO MAKE SONGS / FILMS ON BROKEN FAMILY / KIDS LIVING WITH SINGLE MOM.... IN THE PAST IT WAS EXTENDED FAMILIES WITH GRAND PARENTS NOW KIDS GROW UP WITHOUT BOTH PARENTS WITH NO SIGN OF GRAND PARENTS SINCE GRAND PARENTS END UP IN CARE HOMES WHAT A FAST WORLD

  • @TheLouisfern Caps lock, Next to the A - Turn it off.

  • awesom whoever hates the song u pay billy 500000000000$

  • I'm 14 years and i think this is one of the best songs ever!

    Fuck current music :\

  • @PichuSkywalker indeed my friend , have a nice day

  • Everytime I listen to this song I fall in love again with him. Even though he is out of my life he will never be out of my soul.....

  • 日本語で失礼。

  • I liked Weird Al's cover of this song better...

  • the dislike task is like a ninja. its there but u cant see it.

  • I like my life filled with music...lots of it - lots of different types...and I'm a big believer that it's perfectly doable to like the old and the new and the inbetween :) LONG LIVE VARIETY

  • today its about making money, yesterday, it was about love, we should bring love back

  • fuckin gangsta shit right here

  • @AUSSIE1991PRIDE2011 He is no gangsta, he is better. He is a Billy Joel. The only one of his kind ;)

  • Once a later, pianoman is a lawer occupation.

But he makes that job to get a high occupation!

Of cource, that is by other musichian's works.

But,but, but,I think so he is a greatest man is a succsessful musician!

  • I believe this is killing me."

As my smile ran away from my face

"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star

If I could get out of this place

"Yes, We're sharing a drink We call loneliness

But it's better than drinkin' alone. A men. this bringing me back lot´s of memories...

  • He is one of the best musician in the world!!!

I love his music, and his music is my youth day.

    Thanks, billy, thanks!!

  • robot chicken brought me :)

  • good

  • This should be the best video about how to deal with one another. Somethings never change,

  • '' sometimes U play me a memorie,I'm not realy sure how it goes, it is sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete, but then I took an arrow in the knee'' are the actual lyrics...

  • Think about the kind of music that was popular in 1973 and you realize how original Billy Joel is as an artist to write something like this and make it a hit.

  • How in the world did you get this video??

  • This shoulda been the intro to a bad ass musical sitcom or something. That would have totally ruled!!! Billy Joel could been the middle class dad with dreams of being a musician, playing gigs at the local bar and trying to get his music out there. Like a better Partridge Family :)

  • @SinisterHojo It still, can, man. It still can... Just go and write it. Billy is still with us. :) A little older, but better still, he could be a grandpa or smthn :) :) :)

  • @pepsis1987 That would be better actually. Cuz then he could have a son who thinks what he is doing is silly, until they come together and strengthen there relationship through the bond of music :) Great idea. Maybe I will write that...

  • The video might be 240p, but the song itself sounds like its 320kb/s!

  • esta mejor la de don oscar :P

  • hey it's the spiderman song!

  • Todays era music is terrible, it takes no talent to make a song because of auto-tune. Why can't the world see that it takes talent to make a song and that todays music is made up in minutes, sounds all the same, and is inappropriate. I am not an adult by the way so it isn't like i grew up with this music. I hope in the future people realize the true definition of music.

  • @21icecreamman

dont you dare generalize all modern music as shi,t you just have to look for the good stuff man, its out there

  • Comment removed

  • @21icecreamman Funny thing is he and a lot of others from this time has so much talent he probably made songs in five minutes. Difference between now and then is electronics aren't just in the amps and chords anymore. all good music is off the tv in various local places around the world.

  • @21icecreamman I'm completely agree with your comment, that's a voice high quality

  • @21icecreamman I know what you mean, i'm 16 all of my friends are obsessed with dubstep. I will never understand how people enjoy that "music", it's just a guy with computer software making noises!

  • @21icecreamman I am 18 and completely agree. Sure its good for a rave party, but that is why i listen to Angels and Airwaves. Tom DeLong is the closest thing your going to get to that today and his music is amazing.

  • @21icecreamman Not true. There are definitely mainstream singers today that can't sing at all without autotune, you shouldn't stereotype today's era of music like that. There are many mainstream singers that are amazing without autotune. Look at Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Buble, Amy Lee (Evanescence), Beyonce, Rihanna, and many more. If you don't like today's music, that is fine, but it is ignorant to say that none of today's singers have talent.

  • @21icecreamman I agree man, I'm 16 and my generation is totally and utterly clueless. Nice username btw. :)

  • @21icecreamman Amen Brother!

  • @21icecreamman Check out Eluveitie. Maybe you don't like it, but they are absolutely different to every pop music. And they can play their music live, no auto-tune. Have fun! ^^

  • @21icecreamman just saying todays music is all crap is bullshit because not all music today is hip hop :p

  • @21icecreamman I agree so much! i'm19 and i only listen to music from the 20th century, this century'smusic isa disgrace! but billy joel in particular literay has (in my opiunion) the best voice in the world, his voice i think, is perfect! :)

  • @strangledseagull The way you type hurts my eyes.

  • @strangledseagull You are missing out on great music! just like @alrod666 said you have to look deep for it, you can't turn on the radio and expect to hear good music, that's not how it works its called "mainstream" for a reason, its music that is catchy and listenable so people can have something to do on their commute to work. Its not ment to be a classic or good. check out the albumn "Distant Relatives" by Nas & Damian Marley, also Johnny Polygon listen to those and get back

  • @21icecreamman Here we go again- hopelessly nostalgic people whining about ´real talent`.Seriously? Real talent? Listen to some DISCO. There was terrible music in the 70s too and for a good reason it disappeared. If you have to dig so deep in the past to find something comforting, why don´t you dig a little deeper in today´s music? There are just as many talented musicians around and loads of great songs. And just as much crap. If you only want to hear crap, then that´s all there is. Your choice.

  • @alrod666 ahh no

  • @alrod666 Well said.

  • @alrod666 Exactly!!!

  • @alrod666 You have a point but I think he is refering to the music that is the most popular not the stuff thats sidelined.

  • @alrod666 Exactly what i think

  • @alrod666 Give me another freddie mercury, and ill agree!

  • @Korexification There isn´t and there probably won´t be another Freddie Mercury or John Lennon or Bon Scott. For various reasons. But that´s not my point. All I´m saying is that there are great musicians out there, available to see and hear right here on youtube or tons of other websites. You can explore them open mindedly or refuse to do so like @21icecreamman and many others.

  • @alrod666 Well i'm not really stuck in that era since I wasn't even born then. I just like how to the music was genuine. But Adam Lambert is now touring with Queen, thanks to American idol and other shows such as. Have been giving us pretty good results for people who can actually sing.

  • @alrod666 I'm sorry you can't appreciate the music that influenced a generation. Perhaps someday, you'll grow a brain and figure out what life is really about. FYI, this music stirs wonderful memories for post Vietnam generation. Of course, you wouldn't understand that either, because you obviously didn't exist at that time. Rock on with your music today, which I, for one find hopelessly pathetic.

  • @dougs510 Have you even read my comment? Where does it say that I don´t appreciate old music? Exactly that´s the kind of ignorance I was writing about. I´m really sorry I did not stop collecting records in 1979 to live up to your standard.

  • @alrod666

There are talented musicians now. but there really was, however, about a 15 year bulge when rock music was just fantastic and that period will probably never be equalled. I remember a few years back Spin magazine put out a list of the best songs released after the 70's to prove music didn't die after 1979. Their number 1 song was "London Calling" by the Clash. Only problem was that "London Calling" was released in 1979. Kinda says everything, huh?

  • @mattymath1 Haha, yeah I read that, too. What an ingenious editor that was. And I totally agree with you that time was very special. Many of my all time favourite records were made before 1980. But also after that and I wouldn´t want to miss any of them. If people only listen to the old stuff, how can new, talented bands ever become popular? They need support and they certainly don´t get it from the music industry anymore.

  • @alrod666 your a fucking idiot, music in today age is bullshit

  • @testimonials1060 Nostalgia goggles. In twenty or thirty years, people will only remember the good stuff. Same as they do from years back.

  • @alrod666 I share your sentiment my friend, but... I think the real reason we all bellyache about 'real talent' is because it's no longer popular & mainstream. I must confess that you are %100 right though. Good stuff is out there if we'er willing to seek it out.

  • @alrod666 True, true, There are still a great bunch of musicians out today. The one difference is that the "pop" music of today is almost completely shit. It's the industry to blame. But I digress, you just can't compare the music of today to the music of yesterday. It's always going to change, but that doesn't mean that today's music isn't as good.

  • @21icecreamman There is REALLY good music out there today, it's just really hard to find. Most of everything on top 40 is crap.

  • @21icecreamman you say it takes no talent to make music with auto tune? Have you ever tried it? just because today's music utilizes different instruments doesn't mean it is bad! I love this style of music but you are ignorant if you say that there is no skill or talent involved with auto tune.

  • @21icecreamman

    awwwwww,

    i found someone likeme... :D

Im not an aduld too, and Im exactly on your opinion, because these "Artists" just press one Key on a key bord, go to the PC, make 26 effects on it, and everybody loves it!

    This Is crap!!!

  • @21icecreamman True.

  • @21icecreamman the best part is your parents said the same thing about you

  • @21icecreamman

May be late to this but,

the only reason you can tell what's bad now is because of the larger amount of artists.

  • Awesome!!! :-) makes me wanna get a drink.

  • I just had an eargasm

  • 19 people can go die, 3005 you guys are truly amazing

  • manita arriba si vieron el trailer de gia goe

  • temazo grande es idolo siempre

  • ブレイクする前のビリーはどこか欝っぽい顔ですね。

    この頃も鬱と戦っていたのでしょうか。

  • this song is so goddamn great!

did anyone notice, that the arrogant worms used kinda the same melody and tune in their "carrot juice is murder"?

  • This song is about a bunch of depressed people. But, it makes any one listening cheer up.

  • Great song

  • 18 dislikes???????who are these people?...

  • eines der schönsten lieder dies überhaupt gibt,so schön gesungen traurig und doch wieder schön,könnte des ganzen tag hören dickes PLUS

  • 18 people with no musical taste voted.

  • @DizziNY1 and now 22, but I want to think is a mistake...those who clicked finger down is because they thought download the song!

  • @DizziNY1 now it is 23

  • I wish there was a LOVE button. Billy is one of the greatest American songwriters, PERIOD!

  • ReIly b0e say this kinda do look like me though !!

    RELLYBOEJEANCO. HEAR ABOUT HIM BITCH!!!

  • I ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG. Never realized it was done in 1973...my year. I guess Billy is old now.

  • 4:03 is a perfect shot of him :) miss you

  • Where are these times gone.? Where are this bars you just enter have a drink alone listening to live music and getting happily drunk while smoking 20 cigarettes.

  • Justin Bieber is spam. Sorry Billy I just had to say and I love you Billy!

  • I love these old songs. I mean, all the new songs are about sex, drugs, sex, nightclubs, love. Justin Bieber is playing what he calls "Music". Same with all the other pop stars. Micheal Jackson was great. He was real pop. Oh how i love the oldies. Although, my favorite would have to be.."Next door to an angel, by Neil Sedaka". MY FAVORITE. Oh...How i wish i lived in the 80's. Cheap food. If we made revenue and brought it to the days where burgers were 5 cents, we'd be able to solve world hunger.

  • @Trickyboy1337 I don't know if you've noticed, but most of the old songs are about sex, drugs, nightclubs, and love too.

  • I love how his voice has matured. It's gotten deeper, richer and fuller.

  • wunderschönes lied könnte des immer wieder hören

  • Man billy joel was awesome... wish I could have been around when he was in his prime... playing songs like this on the piano is always heartwarming... they just dont make musicians like that anymore!

  • I was born in 1973 and it is kind of ironic because I have been in love with billy joel my entire life!!

  • lok at the dislike bar...now look at your dick...same thing right!

they dont mak em like this any ore.

  • 18 people are gay..

  • Bella musica, dios bendiga a Billy Joel.

  • Excellent job Billy Joel! This song paints a picture taken from reality. So many personalities in a bar on a Saturday night, hoping a drink or being part of a crowd takes away their loneliness, worries, troubles, etc. and listening to the local talent that should be elsewhere. WOW. This kind of songwriting is the real deal and todays so called talent will NEVER measure up to it.

  • @concheharborboy... phenomenal observation! Sadly, the art of writing songs is passe in today's tired excuse for music.

  • a drink they call loneliness, but its better, than drinking alone.

    Great

  • Timeless! This is what you call talent! The new stuff today is garbage.

  • the 18 people that disliked this have no taste of music

  • "The piano sounds like a carnival and the microphone smells like a beer..." Is anyone writing lyrics like that these days? What a talent.

  • I LOVE Billy Joel!!!

  • i love this song

  • Believe it or not the handsome manager is my grandfather! This was his bar :)

  • @whitelighterxxx thanks for the likes, it means alot to me. He passed away ab 7 years ago.

  • @whitelighterxxx Now that's pretty Cool!!

  • @ghartigan Thanks! I knoooooo, smart smart man

  • @whitelighterxxx no way :O

  • @callshadow3 yep :) pretty sweeeeeet ay

  • @whitelighterxxx holy shit that was your grandfathers bar did you ever get to meet billy joel

  • @165darthvader haha nah, i wasn't even thought of at this point. my grandfather passed away when I was like.. 12? i'm 20 now

  • @whitelighterxxx nice :P

  • @whitelighterxxx You wanna know why I don't believe that? Because like in the music video for the song Pyro by Kings of Leon, this is a fake bar......and staged acting.

  • @RockandPartyJon I personally don't care what your beliefs are in the music video. Staged acting, sure, that's a given. But this IS his bar and my grandfather was the manager. Do your research bud.

  • @whitelighterxxx send me some proof, i'm not a hateful person i just hate people who lie to get attention.

  • @RockandPartyJon first of all rock and party jon i dont know you so im not gonna go out of my way to get and give you proof that not only was my grandfather the owner/manager of the bar but this was his actual place its offensive to me that your basically saying you hate me cus you think im trying to get attention by saying my dead grandpa owned this. Hes in the video, 4:03 is a perfect shot. With almost 1 million views im not putting shit out there. Keep on keepin on dumb ass.

  • @whitelighterxxx look i'm just curious to see some proof no need for the language. It'd be cool if that were true, but I mean...that's a set. If you could prove it wasn't that would be awesome...like the name of the bar or something. or the year or anything.

  • @RockandPartyJon The name of the bar was peters apartment in chestnut hill pa, not sure the year though, my dad said possibly around 72?

  • @whitelighterxxx That's awesome whitelighter, you don't by any chance know what street it was on, do you? It's not that I don't believe you, I just like to find old buildings

  • @sgtpepper1138 haha I only got frustrated with that guy cause he was saying rude stuff, but yea i'll ask my dad if he knows cus i don't and i'll get back to ya

  • I was born yesterday and like this song. I died tomorrow and like this song. I'm 12 and like this song. I'm a teeniebopper female nitwit and like this song. The navy gay image came from this song that's why the guy with no time for a wife is talking with Davey. The internet slapped me and I like this song.

  • There is no 5:19

  • @thesuperbouncyballs lol u r right :D

  • 1973? wow. I thought this song came out in 1985.

  • One of the most talented singers of all time both in his singing and playing..

  • I love how much younger this voice sounds in this version. I think I may like this one much better :)

  • @kamoteAsesino wait wut

  • @7855waldo

Have you lived under a rock or something? Course they can both be done at once... You should try it.

  • Great song great musicien.

  • GReat song great musicien.

  • Why couldn't I have been growing up in the 60s or 70s. I'am sick of Talyor Swift and all the other crap out right now.
