I'd have loved to see him live in his lifetime, both for his skill playing and the comedy; I wish there was more singing in this video though - I was eager to hear Marilyn.
I only found this searching for my ancestry, me and Marilyn share the same surname, my late grandad was a pianist and I'm an amateur opera singer, cool coincidences lol
i saw him in concert when he was 90 and 91 years old. this is on here elsewhere with Marilyn Mulvey but some posters are so stupid they dont realise this is STAGED. They think she is putting up with this...but this is all rehersed and staged. Also he has used her as a stooge before, but she looked waaaaaayyyyyy different. Same Song, different hairstyle.
@GodsFavoriteBassPlyr Well, I happen to know from personal experience that, no matter how funny something is, you get used to it after a while. May take a year or two for extreme cases, but it's still manageable.
@maelthrajaluk42 ... With regards to 'getting used to something and not laughing at it', I must an exception then, because lots of things I watch STILL make me laugh my socks off.. Victor Borge doing just about anything, Norman Wisdom, The Muppets, Carry-On films, Jim Carrey in Mask, and of course lots of lovely PIXAR films too..
Maybe my funny bone just like the excercise.. Whatever the reason I LOVE TO LAUGH, it's very good for you too i believe.. Best regards from Sunny Wales today :0)x
@MrLiamox .....it's a comic bit. i do not know if in his personal life mr borge drank heavily or not, but from what i understand, he was a man of great integrity and moral character, so i would suspect not.
@7inga7 I think you'd almost have to be a good sport, if you were agreeing to appear on stage with him! LoL He's so funny, but he does rag on his "guests." :D
@AuralayKristine He has never "ragged" on his guests. The people who appear with him are already prep'd in advance, as it is all part of the act. If it were really the case, no one would ever have appeared with him. He was not the sort of human being who would embarrass anyone, particularly a well known celebrity. He'd be banned by many. Good sport, however? Yes! i agree!
In his stage shows in later years, he would include a segment with opera singer Marilyn Mulvey. She would try to sing an aria, and he would react and interrupt, with such antics as falling off the bench in "surprise" when she would hit a high note. He would also remind her repeatedly not to rest her hand on the piano.

OK seriously, why do you care so much? If Australia and Britain are so great, why did they come HERE to the US to make movies? What about Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Paul Newman, Henry Fonda, Bette Davis, Brando, Buster Keaton, Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall, Sydney Poitier and Gregory Peck? They happen to all be American, and they are considered some of the greatest in the history of film. I'm not saying America is the best, but no single country holds a monopoly on talent.
thank you. that helps demonstrate my point. we're all human beings, with similar amounts of talent dispersed throughout the world. britain's no better than america, and neither is australia. germany's no better than england, and india's no better than any of them. there are talented people all over the globe, and not one country can truly boast having more than another.
The fact that every country has talent SOMEWHERE doesn't mean that some countries don't have more talent than others, or that some countries aren't better at helping that talent to grow. And if you have talent, you might as well boast about it. All we boast about now is how bad everyone is. It's a very depressing situation.
true, at the same time, how are we to know how the ratio of talented-not talented people in any one country. if you just gauge on who actually decided to take their talent into the entertainment/art industry, that's not fair to all those who either didn't have enough confidence in their abilities to pursue that sort of career, or decided there were other things they also wanted to do that may be a much better use of their time.
