Unlike DriverFan1 I think you have a very nice singing voice. Only try to play the bass notes of the chords ( so when you play a D, don't hit the A and low E strings ).
It will sound way better. E F F# G and G# are 6 strings, A Bb B C C# are on 5 strings and D Eb are on 4 strings :-)
