  • Republican party is full of closet cases. Check out KIrby dick's film outrage. So much hypocrisy.

  • He makes a great point.

You can't say you support small government and then be nasty and anti-gay. The two conflict. You either want small government or you don't want small government. You can't pick when you want government to be small and when you want it to be big and then claim that you're pro-small government.

  • Homophobia will split this party in two. Grow up, GOP. It's the only thing that will win them another election.

Freedom hating bigots don't deserve Republican representation.

  • Gotta love the guy who boo's at everything. "I hate you for who you are, not how you think!"

  • The Gays will be voting for candidates who don't want gay marriage, or gays in the military.

    Brilliant!!

  • Not all gays, deary. Just the really sad, self-hating ones.

  • I think it's great that the homophobic bigots will take down the GOP and the horrible "Reagan Coalition" for good. Anything that puts a schism between the CEO Republicans and the Fundie Hillbilly Republicans is GREAT for the US!

  • i love this guy

  • Hardly civil war. One speaker seeking publicity for his book on homosexuality makes some objectionable comments, although they are not nearly as bad as many political comments made by Obama supporters, even prominent ones, and friends of the President.

The audience rightly objects, and respond with widespread booing. Shows how much more civilise the right is than the left. Well done American Conservatives.

  • This speaks to how uncivilized the 3 or 4 (didn't sound like very many different people booing) people are. Doesn't represent how civil one side or the other truly is. Each side has jerks that will sit their and rudely boo or barge into town hall meetings and start yelling. They had the right to object. It is, after all, a free country, but a little bit of tact would have been nice as well.

  • Objectionable? if you are talking about subjective and objective and not the absolute, debunked, hate gargling from Sorba's mouth, then you are totally wrong. Everything he states is subjective and opinion based off of ignorance, misrepresentation of philosophy and science, using outdated and debunked studies and a single fundamentalist view point of religion, and lots not forget his wonderful display of arrogance. I am making a poster for this guy. "SORBA: Another reason why America fails."

  • So according to your profile you're a gay male but you "hate niggers and wetbacks". You also seem to be able to speak Spanish. Nice try to create guilt by association but unfortunately for you, you just

    FAILED!!!

  • So that's right-wing civil war?

I'd call that vigorous debate. If that speaker is representative of the next generation of the right then the liberal left will be smashed into irrelevancy for a least another generation.

  • Economic conservatism will never make a full comeback until it gets out of bed with the social conservatives who caues it to be viewed as fringe rather than a viable alternative to big govt.

  • Unfortunately most of the people there were sitting on their hands & those clapping were outnumbered by those booing.

Where is the call for freedom & equal rights?

  • How do you get that? Only one person was booing you twit and that was the moron that was shouted down later when he made his rambling speech. Seriously, watch this again.

  • You actually have to watch more than the first 20 seconds of the video. This isn't exactly a long clip.

  • I've never understood some right wingers who care more about gay people than taxation....

Taking a line from American Dad..."Hating gays is hate we could be using on the Democrats"

  • At this point, I actually hate the word "liberty". Wingnuts have totally hijacked it...

  • Ahhh eating their own ...Rethuglicans in true form....let them kill one another.....

  • dr. ron paul's campaign manager was gay

    gay, gay, gay.

  • Go Alexander McCobin. Keep carrying the torch of freedom!

  • CPAC is just a hoard of hillbilly RACISTS assholes....

  • Why are you such a bigot? Have you even bothered to speak to any of us or are just making assumptions based on what you saw on TV?

  • It's battered wife syndrome. I would NEVER even attempt to make the effort to be accepted by such a xenophobic group so bad. Seriously buddy, their idiots and you're worse for wanting their acceptance. It's embarrassing. THEY'RE JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU!

  • Thanks for calling me an idiot. You obviously have no idea what's going on in the GOP. Did you have your audio turned off? Did you not hear the cheers overwhelming the couple guys booing up front? I'm a card carrying Republican, I have several gay and lesbian friends AND I support their equal rights. There are many like me and we're growing in number. Does that create too much cognitive dissonance for you?

  • It's great to see the resurgence of the libertarian wing of the GOP. We're already seeing a purge taking place as the party's long-dominant neocon-theocon contingent is gradually collapsing under the weight of its own hypocrisy.

  • Here is a thought for Democrats who are condemning McCobin and GOPride for "hypocrisy":

If you are unable to look past your own politics to appreciate the attempt to bring social justice to the Republican party, how can you think that you truly stand for justice at all?

  • Students for Liberty is awesome!!!

  • McCorbin may stand for many things I disagree with, but at least he's willing to stand up for civil rights. The rest of those idiots have no idea what freedom is.

  • @Rexcetera

Agreed, those who wish to deny peoples rights(gays) are mongoloids. We have a real opportunity to win in 2012 if we stand for peace and freedom. The GOP will drown in the water if they do not pick Ron Paul. The GOP needs to reexamine if they truly are conservative, by looking at the foreign intervention, the drug war, monetary policy and so on. Peace and Freedom is very attractive. Ron Paul 2012.

  • Given the current ascendancy of the lunatic fringe in the Republican Party; from Teabaggers to Talibangelists, I have to say: being a Gay Republican is like being a Jewish Nazi or Black White Supremacist.

  • Makes perfect sense to me.

  • You should get out more and try talking to actual Republicans. I think you'll find the experience enlightening. Did you not hear our cheers overwhelming the the few people booing up front?

  • While it was nice to hear quite a few cheers, I'd hardly call it overwhelming.

  • Yeah it seemed like there were about 3 or 4 people randomly booing and about double that cheering. Everyone else sat like a statue in the room thinking "I don't want to offend either side so I'll just stay completely still!"

  • You see hypocracy rampant in both parties. Liberals tell you that you need to be tolerant and support free speech, then try to silence people and spew hatred at people they oppose. Conservatives preach smaller, less intrusive government. But then want to use the power of the state to enforce their religious views. Mr. McCobin is correct! Liberty does not come in pieces. "Lets be free, oh except for these issues where I want to control you!" That is nonsense. Enough with the hypocracy.

  • @Dislekseyuh

You really don't get it. The supporters of Gopride were not gay, but supporting true liberty. Dividing up liberty into economic liberty and social liberty makes liberty itself easier to trample upon.

  • That dude speaking sounded pretty gay to me ;-)

  • Ignorance = Epic FAIL

He's the treasurer of GOProud (Republican gay activist organization) and he is gay, but the millions of libertarian Republicans are mostly straight AND we support their equal rights.

  • Way to go, McCobin!!

"Freedom is indivisible. As soon as one starts to restrict it, one enters upon a decline on which it is difficult to stop." Ludwig von Mises

  • As a liberal, I probably have a different view on the appropriate size of government.

But I applaud this fellow for his views on social tolerance and GOProud.

I encourage those who promote "limited government" to remember that checks and balances are an important part of our constitution.

When it was adopted, corporations were rare and played a limited roll in our country's processes. Today, they play a huge roll, and government is the only potential check on their strength.

  • role*

Corporations would not get as big as they are without the support of government. Checks and balances were supposed to keep one group or individual from gaining too much government power. However, these checks and balances have done little to stop the useurpation of power by the executive branch.
