  • You are an actress AND a song "Bette Davis eyes" by Kim Carnes, met her and told her, if she now "is" a song - rock'n'roll ;) - her grandson learnt she is something important.

You are the best actress ever, Bette, love you so much! Thank you for posting, and

looking a bit smaller it seems to me one of her last public appearances ( 1982 ) before her terrible "annus horribilis" 1983 with mastectomie, stroke and broken hip-- but you are still here and forever!

  • Ironic!!!

She trashed "A Pocketful of Miracles" and Capra throughout the 1960's!!!

  • Listen, i'm a 19 year old guy and i think she is absolutely beautiful. She's glowing! I love how she looks on the Dick Cavett show too, with the beret and glasses.. She's spectacular :) "But y'ar Blanche! Y'ar in that chair!" - They don't make them like her anymore.

  • @shawnanthony1992: And she was an actress AND a song. In 1981 performed Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes".She met and told her, her grandson learnt that with a "rock'n'roll" song she must have been soembody important.

Looking thinner must hve been one of her last public appearances before her "annus horribilis" 1983, before mastectomia, stroke and broken hip. But:always stood

Comparing to Joan Crawford (I'm a star!) she once said: M not a star, m an actress";)

  • she's got Bette Davis Eyes

  • I love bette, my idol. She's a b!tch I love her so much. If she was alive now she would be 103 I think.

    Aww.

  • "A great director gives the audience a new way of seeing the world". He did precisely that, and yet I am not convinced that the in which Mr. Capra saw the world was entirely new. I do believe that his view was as old as humanity, but one that people forget when life gets in the way.

  • @lorrainewands Nicely put. Your comment reminds me of something Jimmy Stewart said about It's A Wonderful Life which which was not a success when released but which, over the years, had become a holiday favorite. He said Capra would be touched to know that as he was so proud of the movie and was disappointed it was not a hit when released. Robert Osbourne, I think, chalked it up to WWII being over and a public intent on moving forward whereas this movie takes place in the past.

  • the lady at :47 is Michelle Lee (from "Knots Landing" fame)

  • I would have given anything to have dinner and a martini with Bette

  • In response to the comment below. She loved that a song was named after her "Bette Davis eyes"song of the year 1981sang by Kim Carnes especially because her her grandsons thought it was so cool but...she wanted people to respect her for her acting ability and rightfully so.

  • Could someone tell why she sais "Im an actress not a song" please?

  • Bette Davis = the most fascinating actress / human being ever.

  • who's the lady in 0:47?

  • This must have been just before she became ill yes?

  • @whatsthetime4

this is 1 week after she died ;)

  • what year was this?

  • Hi class & being herself! I wish I could have known her! I wish I was her reincarted!

  • what year is that video

  • Bette Davis is amazing

  • just wow. my God. this articulate fabulous woman. wow.

  • What a great woman and actress! There will only be one Bette Davis, that's for sure. She did remind me of her character in "All About Eve". It may have been the hair. I wish I could of been alive to meet such a woman.

  • No actress could be as charming and witty as Bette Davis was. She has remained a Hollywood icon even since she passed away. I love her immensely! Her hairdo in this clip looks exactly what we see in "All About Eve". Too sad that she had remained a smoker throughout her career. She would not have had her stroke, which resulted in rapid aging of her apperance.

    Thanks for posting this clip.

    And Many Thanks From Japan.

  • Give me chills when everyone stood up for her! Go Bette!

You certainly deserved that ovation! 'cause you are the GREATEST!!!

  • its great to see bette on form usual. what a wonderful lady she was. a consummate actress and a person of keen intellect and wit. a tour de force.

  • I would of love to meet here

  • Simply" The GREATEST OF ALL TIMES". I love you, Bette.Your fan from Argentina.

  • Love her, the greatest woman in the film industry. G-d bless her RIP Bette.

  • All of these wonderful actors are now sadly gone if not they are going. They were before the days of TV when you went to the movies and sat in the dark theatre and was caught up in the magic of that time and place without commecials. There will never be a time like that again it's all "Gone With The Wind" So all of their fans are also entering the twilight of their years. Oh But those were the days!!

  • This is brilliant, what a funny, charming side of Bette you don't often get to see! A great comic timing too, so poo to anyone who said she had no sense of humour!

  • after all these years...still my fav.actress.i love her!

  • A wonderful, all-American original..love her.

  • she's ever the star

  • She's so cheeky! "An actress, not a song!" Love her, always and forever! ;)
