  • Look up the XB-70 this is the Airforce Mach 3 bomber that actually got off the ground and was fairly succesfull for the time (mid 60's) Very expensive also ,,price tag of some 5 plus billion dollars for the 2 aircraft and some 80-90 flights

  • Theft of the taxpayers hard earned money. Shame.

  • One thing is certain, all 3 of these planes the French, Russian and American were beautiful jets to look at. There was an artists sensibility that came with those designs. Just think if they had been working with each other instead of against each other what kind of magnificent bird might have come from that..

  • The Lockheed L-2000 is so sexy.

  • 2:10 so are the pilots just meant to slide down the nose of the plane to get out, then face-plant it at the bottom?

    ._.

  • If the L-2000 was chosen, you think it would've flown?

  • Concorde anyone?

  • concord was a real supersonic airliner that was in service for 27 yrs...these prototypes never even took flight, why??because they couldn't....

  • @MICKEYISLOWD wow you're fucking stupid hahahaha that must suck

  • AREA 51 >:D

  • After reading some of the comments, I have a slight headache. The 2707 died pre-birth mainly because of the issue of multiple daily sonic booms pissing people off and the sudden mach 3 (MUCH more expensive) goal. Same for the Concorde, the sonic boom issue limited it's usefulness greatly, which meant less money from the beginning. Then came the crash and post 9/11 air travel slump. Please stop posting dumb and uninformed comments (looks at leborde).

  • @hectiky society should change to suit technology not the other way round if houses were built to higher standards, the economy would boom with the sonic booms. technology should never be suppressed.

  • I think I saw this being made on Blue Peter.

  • What a beauty it would have been.

  • hahahaaha they was just hatting on the english for making concord

  • I guess they decided going to the moon was more important

  • @ozwasp going to the moon you really beleve that bullshit they never landed on the moon

  • @ragasdapper

I'd like to see what evidence you have to support that statement.

So far I have yet to see anything even approaching a coherent argument.

  • 1970... The footage looks like it was filmed in 1870

  • cool video. fuck the kyoto protocol.

  • The USA only outstriped Tupolev's SSTs and Lockheed's SSTs. But not British Aerospace's.

  • @TheSimonHarris - MORON!! Read the post, or perhaps some sign language for the mentally challenged for you.....

  • G-FORCE!!!!!

  • I love to hear sonic booms.. they are cool.. to hell with all the wimps that don't like them. I also think it is funny when idiots move close to an airport and complain about the noise.

  • I think what this video says is true. This project died due enviromental concerns n specially costs, not lack of inteligence of americans, who -by the way- could get a man into the moon.

Just take the example of the Concorde, it gave virtually no profits in 30 years n only a handful of them were made. Also, it was extremly expensive, just excentric rich people used it. Surely Boeing's 747 was better investment than the Concorde. Govs should support supersonic planes tho, it's a pity they r gone

  • @beto102001 Lots of countries played their part in getrting a man on the moon, I agree with everything else you said though

  • I concur -we as a species seem to have peaked - at least for the moment. Is this cyclical through history? Between the innovative spirit exhibited in this video and the music selected - we seem to indeed see a precipitous decline. When viewed through the non-blinking eye of history, is this a decline (the rise and fall of human kind) or - will that innate curiosity and "can do" spirit that drove the SST and took humankind to the moon re-emerge?

  • @Zumbawithcindy You're *So* Dumb. Peaked as a species? Look tell that to your Cell Phone that can find you directions & a ride to the airport, buy a plane ticket to Israel, and show you reviews of restaurants halfway across the planet.

  • I concur -we as a species seem to have peaked - at least for the moment. Is this cyclical through history? • Geese, what a bunch of jealous whiners..... want some cheese for that whine?! If it weren't for America you socialists would all be speaking german... Maybe we should let them keep europe next time. Or better yet, do nothing when the muslims take over...

  • @keithlacey2007 Yeah maybe you should of let the nazi party exterminate jewish babies for no reason, that would of been the right thing to do ey?.......Muslims take over?? really?

  • Why the sudden outburst of anti- American? Unbecoming of a professional pilot.. While there are many reasons that America did not succeed in producing an SST and bringing it to market, I would counter that we were pretty busy going to the Moon in the 1960s.

  • @PacificEdibleSeaweed - you had your ex-nazi buddies to thank for giving you the rocket technology to go to the moon don't forget.

  • YANK COCK SHITTERS!

  • @32780tit Having a pint to many while sitting around on the dole watching tot's t.v. all day are we?

  • @PacificEdibleSeaweed No, I'm actually a pilot for a living, so I have lots of free time :) Mwah x

  • 2:14 It makes sense that they first tested Viagra on prototype aircraft.Had no idea it was this long ago, though.

  • le borde, the name sounds froggy oops french. If you are American you might be speaking Spanish,French or Dutch without Britain kicking all those out of the USA.

  • I saw a programme that said the USA did,nt have the engines for their SST.and it would never perform as good as the Concorde.

  • the american programm was set to reach Mach 3, but this were a big mistake as the french/british can hardly cool the concorde structure at Mach 2.2, then the us government voted law to kill the concorde commercial developpment in amercia, involving noise, polution, etc etc...end of the supersonic commercial story...

  • 2:00 The mechanical system for that nose must have added a couple tons to the weight of the plane.

  • thats amazing i never knew they had this prototype.

  • @iansuncoast They didn't, these are ply-wood mock-ups.

  • I guess we'll putthe space Shuttle in the same museum as the SST...

We let our leaders squander our tax money on decades of wasteful programs..and let our dreams be replaced by a Big Mac and fries.

  • You must be kidding ! "Feet", "libr"..."inches"?...

All world use metric sistem ! How to calculate how is 273ft and 2 inches???

    C`mon!

  • Wow...for all you arguing back and forth about Britain vs. America on who had the successful SST program. YES, Britain and France did. REMEMBER this though....America was and is the only country to successfully put TWO birds ( air breathers ) at Mach 3 on regular basis over the years. One being the Blackbird family ( A-12/ YF-12 / SR-71 ) and the massive XB-70 Valkyrie. No other has that under their belt.

  • biggest US fail ever. Stick to making derivatives of the old boring 737-200-300-400 yawn yawn yawn.

  • @ABBADiego You forgot to add making money making 737, 727, 707, 747, DC8, ,DC9 and DC10's etc

  • Looks like is not commercially viable to make commercial supersonic planes; pity since it doesn't have the drag of sound once it breaks its barrier and flights will be shorter. Maybe today that we have better computers than in the '70s will be possible why people is not experimenting with this?

  • 1:58 plane slowly becomes a jew

  • @ShadowGKCP HAHAHA fucking funny

  • @ShadowGKCP hahaha LOL!

  • boring.....

the music makes it twice as boring

  • I was in the SST prototye as it sat in a warehouse/hanger of some sorts, when I was about 10, maby it was Florida, can't remember right now. I think the first plane to break the sound barrier was there, i went in that also, and some other plane, it was hot that day.

  • You make an interesting point martin. I sometimes wonder if the Russians had discovered their desire for hard currency in the late sixties rather than much later, might the Tupolev TU-144 have become a great export success for them.

We can only speculate, but I dare suggest that had the TU-144 become a Russian export commodity, Boeing and others might well have been producing supersonic passenger jets too.

  • it would have been worth the national treasure to follow through on the sst program at that time. a shame it was mothballed

  • Hope supersonic transport becomes a big deal again, Or bring the modified version of the Concorde back.

  • British and French goverments paid for Concordes research & development so that BA and AF never paid anywhere near the actual cost per plane. Were they prepared to be so generous in price had they been selling to Pan Am, Braniff,Lufthansa,Quantas,TWA,Varig etc? I think the answer would be no and that is why the SST never became more than a taxpayer funded novelty.

  • "Due to political, environmental and economic concerns, Congress killed the US SST program in 1971".

Due to jealousy, lack if capabilities and an enormous delay (Concorde flew in 69), the Congress tried to find all the possible ways to kill Concorde and also not to loose face while explaining to the world why are they stopping the supersonic race.

If US were really environmentalist, they should agree to the Kyoto protocol.

After that, the american don't understand why the world don't like them

  • @leborde Learn some history. If it weren't for the U.S. you'd be speaking German right now.

  • @itsmegp46

Yeah, the RAF wouldn't have managed during the Battle of Britain without the USA's help. Oh, hang on.

"Without the US you'd be speaking German" is without doubt the most cliched and ill-informed claptrap spoken on YouTube.

  • @TheMightyHartley The Battle of Britain occured in 1940, over a year before the US Involvement. So your point is irrelevant. The Battle of Britain occured in 1940, over a year before the US Involvement. So your point is irrelevant. After Pearl Harbor was attacked, Churchill's first thought in anticipation of US help was, "We have won the war!" Then of course, France surrendered within a few weeks of Hitler's invasion.

I love how historical revisionists try to change history.

  • @itsmegp46

I was talking about Britain's ability to defend itself during WW2, and used a perfectly relevant example of The Battle of Britain.

You then accuse me of being a historical revisionist. Please explain how my example has 'revised history' - I'm genuinely curious (oh, and I'm not sure why I'm even bothering to engage with you - my comments were to an American ignoramus spouting the kind of nonsense that lets all you guys down. However, I'd imagine you'd agree with him, sadly).

  • @TheMightyHartley Even Churchill knew Britain would have lost eventually. And yes, your point about the Battle of Britain was irrelevant since the US was not at war during this period.

  • @itsmegp46 and you drinking tea and paying in UK Pounds

  • @leborde I don't drink tea or have ever paid anything in UK pounds.

  • @itsmegp46 you WERE. sorry, typing mistake.

  • @leborde LOL - you sound like a typical communist. I agree that US should have signed the Kyoto protocol but just because they didnt, doesnt mean they are not being environmentally aware.

  • @leborde 69' huh? We were probably busy putting MEN on the MOON.

  • Comment removed

  • @TumisHumis The moon landings were over 40 years ago... long gone... in almost 40 years since the moon program ended, america still hasn't come up with anything even close to Concorde.

  • @2491cc Slow down. There have been some real nice fighter jets skippy.

  • @leborde they can not like the usa but they shr the hell know if they try to fuck with the usa there country will get wiped of the face of the earth

  • @kirbyroxy

And the USA know that they will go down if they fuck with the chinese govnernments.

  • @Ismalith hahaha are you kiding me the usa has bases in japan and karea also china admited that they where 20 years behind they stoll the stealth from a f117 to put on the night hawk they have never tested the aircraft carriar missile there uuavs have shityer camras than the us had in the 60s they cant even barly get into smapce so dont give me that bull shit its china that would go down

  • @kirbyroxy

The USA have 70% of her depts in China.

    Its your turn : D

  • @Ismalith havent you heard of fort nox and the 23 other locations soposto have shits aload of money haahahaha YOUR TURN!!!!!!!!!

  • @kirbyroxy

Much too less money, America is absolutly bankrupt.

And even if we forget the money, nearly 80% of all that Americans buy is from China or made with Chinese parts.

You can acept it or not, but America is nothing more than a shadow of its strenght and glory.

  • @kirbyroxy fort knox is empty you dipshit youve got 14 trillion to pay with a 70%comsumer base economy..game over....

  • @kirbyroxy smapce,? what level education do you have? smapce, thats interesting word , did you mean to spell space?, also camras, i like that one too, camras, do you mean cameras?,oh and stoll, you mean stole? buy a dictionary you dumb fuck

  • @stephenzenaida the keys on my shity japanes made toshiba get stuck

  • @kirbyroxy IM SO SORRY MY BAD BRO, MY BAD, SOMETIMES I GET WAY TOO ANNOYED WITH THE SPELLING DIFFICULTIES ON YOUTUBE

  • @kirbyroxy im sorry bout that comment , im sorry for cussing , i was just tied of bad english

  • @leborde

The last man of vision in the USA had his head blown off after 1000 days as President of the USA. Every man who has come after him has lacked vision and courage. Now we have a-holes like Gore pleading for a return to an agrarian society and espousing the insanity of Ted Kaczynski's hatred toward technology and the upward climb of humanity. May cancer find Gore ASAP.

  • @TimSchohdesmoines never been one to wish anything bad on anybody but , al gore needs to go .

  • @leborde most of the planets co2 output is from good old mother nature , the little bit we put out don't amount to a hill of beans. having concern for the planet has nothing to do with current enviromentalism , or real amount of human output, it's just a way to mask robbing develped nations & strangle their growth instead of helping 3rd world nations grow.

  • @circusboy90210 Idiots like Al Gore refuse to believe this, because even though he created the internet, the guy is an f'ing baffoon - just a complete idiot.

  • @HuskyMaxx evedently he's a genius for fooling hundreds of millions of people into buying his shtick.

  • @leborde

Then why is illegal immigration a greater problem in the USA than any other nation on earth?

  • @TimSchohdesmoines because most of you are racist and xenophobes while you're not taking care of the idle poor guys.

But, at least, you're not taking care of the regular and legal (but have-not) co-cotizen, so why should I except you to take care of a man which is irregular?

  • @TimSchohdesmoines - It's not, its a little shiny bangle that conservatives bounce in front of people to get their attention off what the real issues are. Illegal Immigration could be wiped out in months IF the businesses and corporations that are providing the lure to immigrants were ACTUALLY held responsible for their illegal hiring practices. But the GOP has become the slaves of Big Business in America.

  • Let it be said that THIS was the moment when cost and performance reached their most impractical pinnacle and a financial retreat was the only answer available. The Anglo French Concord never made a single CENT..or EURO throughout it's entire operational lifetime. Even the Europeans had to just let the hope and dreams of supersonic transport finally die a normal death after the fiery crash of Air France Flight 4590. Practicality always wins in the end.

  • @bigisezhi The Concorde entered commercial service in 1976 and flew continuously for 27 years. Up until the crash, the Concorde was the safest operational passenger airliner in the world in terms of passenger deaths-per-miles travelled with zero. The crash was caused by debris dropped on the runway by another jet. The debris struck the Concorde and after a chain of unrecoverable events, it crashed. 9/11 killed nearly 30 regular Concorde customers putting the final the nail in its coffin.

  • @itsmegp46 Yep!All perfectly unassailable facts, itsmegp46.And don't get me wrong,I admire the will of the Anglo French to continue with the promise of supersonic transport long after it was known it could never once be profitable. The crash of the single Concord would not have necessarily doomed the entire program had it actually made any money. The dooming algorithm of financial boondoggle was plainly evident before rivet one was bucked I'm afraid. Just a beautiful aircraft, wouldn't you agree?

  • @bigisezhi I don't know how much money the SST was losing, but at $15,000 a pop, Paris to NYC, someone was making money. They served the best food, champagne, etc., delivering me to Paris or London in 3 1/2 hours. I'll be able to tell my grandkids when they're old enough, I did something they probably won't be able to in their lifetimes. And yes, it was a gorgeous plane.

  • @itsmegp46 Just the extra fuel required alone would break the bank, let alone the extra maintenance and exotic materials necessary to fly MUCH faster than a speeding bullet. They had to strip museum pieces for the parts to continue to fly her. The Concord would have had to be of a much larger scale than the mere100 passengers(British Airways)92 passengers(Air France)to be truly successful. Plus, the upper end first class passenger market truly collapsed post 9/11 and has never recovered since.

  • @bigisezhi I read somewhere that the Concorde first (and thats all they had) class ticket was about 20% higher than a standard first class seating in say, a 747.

  • @itsmegp46 Absolutely! But those Trans Atlantic 747's can pack a huge number of paying passengers (about 467). The economies of scale are plainly evident. You can only go so fast without consuming altogether too much fuel. Have you checked out pump prices these days? :P

  • @bigisezhi I'm not all together sure about that. Once the Concorde flew, the US SST was cancelled there was really no incentive to continue research and improve the breed. Don't forget, the original Dash 80, (the 707 prototype) did not have the range to cross the Atlantic. But additional research, improved engine, body, etc. made history. The biggest reason any supersonic commercial jet never succeeded was because most countries, including the US, forbade supersonic flight and its sonic boom.

  • @itsmegp46 ..................................including the US, forbade supersonic flight and its sonic boom.............HIT THE RIGHT SPOT.THEY WHERE JEALOUS.IF THE YANKS MANAGE TO GET THE PLANE TO FLY.DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY THEN WOULD OF FORBADE SUPERSONIC IN THE STATES ...ANSWER NO.AND AS FOR THE SOUND BARRIER THE BRITISH WAS TOLD TO GIVE ALL THERE PLANS FOR THE BREAKING THE SOUND BARRIER TO THE YANKS.THE TEST PILOTS IN BRITAIN WHERE REALLY PISSED OFF.THEY COULDNT UNDERSTAND WAY?.

  • Its nice to know we are still paying off taxes to a project that never went anywhere. Welcome to America

  • @conurelover Shut up, you masochist fag!

  • What a goddamned shame neither of these were actually built. Now we have to listen to endless stories about that piece of shit Tu-144. Concorde of course was/is lovely - but wouldn't it have been spectacular to have an American SST? How about now? All the advanced technology that made Concorde great is now run of the mill stuff. Bet those guys at Boeing and Lockheed Martin would love another run at that thing. Should've rebuilt the twin towers; should build some SST's. Christ, it would be easy.

  • @conurelover 1930's Keynesian Economics. Such a short sided economic policy... <_<

  • @conurelover "Spend, spend, spend," what happened to "save save SAVE!"

  • @conurelover Lets give our government great pat on the back for the Keynesian system they so proudly back.

  • @conurelover First pat on the back all people who reproduce like rats and beetles and make this planet overcrowded with no space left for other species, I'd like to hear environmentalists speak more of Condoms and Malthus and less of satellites.

  • Support civil Aircraft free Bang and Flight! I'm tired of 10hrs to NY! Air-Force does that all the time for no reason at all and nobody protest!

Anyway this is just a dream, Concordosky a failure, Concorde a Splendid reality

  • @vaxiawval Concorde had its own problems. But it is still a lovely aircraft.

  • @conurelover We might not be the only form of life, but we have done the most. Cities, flight and space travel all come from that brain you're so arrogantly criticizing. Corporations do what their clients and customers want, nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure the design would have improved over the years.

  • @conurelover For making a sweet, high tech product that could have made supersonic travel avalible to more than a select few? Yeah, that's stupid and selfishness...

  • only the europeans pulled it of with their concorde.

americans are just not that inventive to make a plane like that AND use it for decades for civil airtransport.

  • build it, and I will come

  • I'd like to know what happened to these mock ups. Cut up to presume.

  • Kinda resembles an XB-70 Valkyrie, doesn't it? Loved this and the Valk. Too bad Lockheed and Boeing both cancelled the SST. For the best, I guess. Anyway, I got to work on many Boeing and Lockheed Aircraft. 1972-2002. (early tacit)

  • Good idea ! Ex US Air Force B-1 Lancer covert to Supersconic passengers. Huh ? You think. about B-1 Lancer ????

  • In all the comments, no one mentions sonic-boom...it's what kept the Concorde from flying over land, thus severely curtailing its routes...and one big reason the US SST was killed...it couldn't fly coast-to-coast.

  • Stupid environmentalists...

  • @raptors222222 are you not in the environment too? did you think it was a private agenda?

  • @TheDaveWallace At the expense of technological progression? No, I would sacrifice some of it. No doubt it was government backed, but at least the government was actually making something.

  • @raptors222222 and stupid government that refused to put more money on this project..

  • @raptors222222

You and 14 other dullards evidently didn't read the last 2 title cards in the video . . .

  • @thoof2001 Look up the US SST program. There was a lot of pushback from the enviromental movement. You really need to brush up on the politics behind this.

  • @raptors222222 I never said environmentalists didn't push back. As a HS senior at that time, I do recall the debates. YOU need a refresher in reading comprehension; try those title cards again.

  • @raptors222222 Dark idiot, luckily there was, where would the world otherwise?

  • Not only did we lose the SST dream, but we have lost steam and slowed down air travel all together to economy speed. Where is our fast traveling high atmophere aircraft at? I had the privalege to fly an American Airlines 707 back in 1983 with my Father from Dallas to Detroit. The Captain said that he was trying to make up time from our delayed departure and he did in 1hr. and 40 minutes. at 650 miles per hour ground speed and tail wind. It felt like it too!

  • I always felt sorry for Lockheed on the SST Deal. The only major advantage the Boeing design had over the Lockheed was its variable-sweep wing, which allowed it to operate from airports with shorter runways - an innovation Boeing scrapped soon after winning the contest. Considering the use of U.S. Taxpayer money, I consider it unethical that Boeing was allowed to substitute an inferior design. That is "Bait and Switch", and Lockheed should have sued for a re-competition.

  • its brahms violin concerto in d major 3rd movement...how can this be vivaldi...no one has knowledge about classical music anymore.

  • In the Le Bourget Air Show 1956 Tupolev was passing the Boeing stand and was TAUNTED by a Boeing engineer that Boeing was cutting metal for a SUPER SONIC TRANSPORT...........Tupolev took off his 'Pork Pie' hat , flung it to the ground exclaming that any country or company that tried to build a Supersonic Transport 'WOULD LOSE IT'S SHIRT' and time has proven him right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SCOTSDOC: And yet, the Tu-144 met a fiery end at a Paris Air Show 17 years later.

  • @SCOTSDOC It didn't keep Tupolev from accepting stolen plans from the Concorde project for his own piece of shit Tu-144 - which he had to personally authorize for flight. That's right: For each passenger flight, Tupolev and an Air Minister from the Soviet government had to be present in order to determine whether the -144 was flight worthy.

  • @beeroosterm The Tupolev -160 , which is a bomber was the next generation Tu-144, when you talk about stolen plans, the Western manufacturers of aircraft stole many Soviet innovations. Where is the next Generation Concorde?as an example, The latest innovation in Western Helicopters is the development of the next generation US military helicopter, with co-axial rotors, which will be the successor to the Apache,Kamov Helicopters have been involved in Co-axial rotors for 60 years.

  • @brendonnz1964 the Tu-144 crashed because the plans the Russians stole from Britain had been deliberately altered as they new the Russians were after them.

  • that was the time ..interesting time..

  • Brahms violin concerto I think!

  • Can anyone help and tell me what background music he has used? Thanks in advance

  • THİS PLANE SUUUUUCKS!!!WE WANT OUR SUPER BEAUTY BACK!

  • Too bad people can't just watch a video without injecting all the personal attacks :(

And of course I'm mainly talking about those who first start saying all the crap. It's sad we can't just watch a historical video on YouTube without coming unglued about issues whether they are related or not.

No one wins. No one benefits. We all lose. In the end the video is still here along with all the idiotic comments of those who threw the first stones :(

  • Can anyone tell me what the music is please? :)

    Isn't that Vivaldi?

@thebakerman1 WarTube would be a more appropriate name for YT :/

  • we can still produce a SST but money speaks for itself

  • grean music

  • lol this was in the 1960s...imagine how fast those jetclasses could be today...mach 5? mach 6?

  • @antifoolsfoundation although we can go those speeds its not even redy for the militiry yet (i think)

  • u45y4375y47yhwheuhy3e2u323u23y3y33yu23y3u

  • u45y4375y47y

  • I wish this was on DVD!

  • now we dont even have a spave program.

the russians spied on us and we didnt do shit

we are slowly becoming hippies im embarassed to call myself american

  • They always put money as an excuse.

  • People dreamed bigger back then.

  • There is no point in these supersonic aircraft beyond being a masturbation aid, and there are much cheaper ways for the taxpayers of the USA, France, Britain and the Soviet Union to achieve that goal. It is no more a shame to see that not built than it is a shame my father didn't buy a Rolls Royce and allowed me to live in a house instead.

If something is worth doing it is worth doing any way - commercially. It wasn't. Obviously.

  • @MartinJWillett: "There is no point in these supersonic aircraft beyond being a masturbation aid...."

JM: Yes and....? Are you a robot?

  • @JetMechMA While there are people struggling to keep schools operating on limited budgets and the elderly can scarcely afford food making big fast planes that nobody really wants (enough to pay for) is not sensible public policy.

  • @MartinJWillett Alright, I agree. I don't like it but I agree.

  • That last bit at the end didn't mention that the Boeing 747 is faster than the Super-Sonic Transport, as it turns out. Because you see, the SST can pass everything but a gas station. While the SST lands to refuel, the 747 sails right on by overhead. But I don't care about that...they should have built the darn thing anyway. It was the spirit of America and when they canceled it they canceled our spirit. Snuffed it right out. The people should have demanded that it be built.

  • The 2707-300 there at 5:23.....THATs the one I remember being promoted at the time. I don't recall the other two at all. I think the -300 was the one they could have flown....but for some strange bizarre reason known only in the inner workings of the world's elites, they cancelled and gave super-sonic passenger flight to the Europeans. It DESTROYED our nation's self image and it was a turning point for the worse in America. The manned space flights to other planets ended shortly thereafter.

  • Look how ridiculous the droop nose is. All that monkey-motion. My gawd! Why not just have a camera window angled to see the runway on approach? ....even at mid-60s technology a camera would have been possible. What were they thinking?

  • @JetMechMA They probably thought people would not get on an aircraft that the pilot could not see out of to land.

  • I am afraid the USA gov has let the people down, maybe time for a change. Kick out the gutless yes men/women

  • it woudlve shared same fate as concorde. Especially with all these tree huggers around!

  • copie the russian tu-144----

  • back then it was way ahead of its time

  • Concorde , america like stealing others technology . Now nearly a 3rd world country says alot.

  • only if.

  • Thumbs up if you feel ashame people in the 60's had supersonic transport, but today we don't have....

  • @barthoedemaker Maybe that proyect did not interest to the government of your country.

  • @barthoedemaker Yeah. In 60's we also went to the moon. We are not doing that either. We are becoming third world now. The US is not the same.

  • @shasha1873 If its not practical; forget about it. The space race to the moon was an ego race between USSR & USA, we got nothing positive from puting a man in the moon except the simple experience & bragging rights, there was nothing there worth keeping the project, if there were our capitalistic system would have done what it does best, capitalize on it. Supersonic transportation is not practicle. USA 3rd world? With the largest most technological national economy in the world? Wrong

  • @prjerry7 Sunshine, we are becoming Mexicans. White people are on the reduction.

  • @shasha1873 I dont see what that has to do with the subject, our economy is still growing, the massive imigration of mexicans most likely will drop our per capita economy but it will surely raise our nominal into record heights especially for the cheap labor they bring. Our nation doesnt have to be white to be rish, just go to Qatar, Singapore, Brunei, Dubai, etc all per capita are the rishest in the world [risher then us] and their not really caucasian their brown.

  • @prjerry7 Man, I hope you are correct.

  • @barthoedemaker We have computers and internet. All information at any time you want, verses supersonic aircraft that pretty much no one would be able to afford to use anyway... I would rather Information Technology that I can afford.

  • @barthoedemaker

Airlines make more money if they keep charging what they charge and use regular, fuel efficient sub-sonic aircraft. And it's not like we have an alternative to commercial flight.

It's more of a safety issue though. Commercial liners are designed like gliders. If both the engines somehow fail, it can still land safely by using the auxiliary turbine in the back of the plane. Supersonic aircraft are made to be unaerodynamic so that they can achieve the speeds they do.
