@ mountainstandardtime Hm, many Germans indeed were innocent. Do you think they all liked the war? Most German soldiers didnt even support the Nazi ideology, but were brainwashed into believing crap and committing war crimes as a result of it. Most of the crimes were committed by guys who upheld the NS ideology like a religion: the SS and its associates.
And for all those who want to blame some country for some war:better look for those who make a fortune out of it - and for those who tried to.
You nazi kraut bastards have not changed. Truman should have nuked you hitlerites back into the stone age. I will always hate you and your fucked up country of germany.
beautiful, thank u for sharing this. I didnt realize your grandfather was saved by the Bielski's as well. Or am I mistaken? Either way what a beautiful story and I'm glad to hear so many survived and went on to have children and grandchildren. Human compassion and the will the survive can drive people to great heights.
@Funhomie because it's a movie! it isn't documentary film it's a lie. Only true part is that they was hiding in the woods and name Bielscy. In real life they was under the soviets army (because Bielski betrayed Polish army) and from soviet order they murdered 128 civilians in village Naliboki. If u want to learn from hollywood movies then i wish u luck...Now u understand why this story isn't in history books?
when we watched the movie defiance I remember my uncle saying he didn't like it because it wasn't what he expected, that he thought they were "really" fighting the nazis. And I thought to myself, of course they fought the nazis. Everyday that they lived was a battle won. I could never imagine what they and all the others with them endured to survive. This is an amazing story which should be honored always. I really enjoyed the film :)
This work is a great complement of the film. Since childhood I did not know how or why we could not fight back. The film provide me an inside of what happened with ones that did. We have to be proud of our brothers.
thanks for posting...I watched the movie last night and loved it. I 'm so glad to find this. The human spirit is a wonderful thing. How someone can bear the unbearable for so long and watch so much pain and suffering at the hands of others .... yet be able to rise above it and move on with their lives .
The Bielskis protected Jewish but killed many Poles in very cruel way. They exterminated Naliboki village - killed 128 ppl included women and children. Aron Bielski (80) is now beed arrested for stealing with his wihe Henryka (58) 250.000 usd and kindnapping 93 years old woman. They might get 90 years behind the bars.
I met David Bielski at my job while working in the liquor store.
He was quite a character who told me to see defiance, and his father was Alexander "Zuz" Bielski.
I watched the movie twice and now this history channel documentary of the survivors and their stories and I must admit that I have been very moved by the whole thing.
Aaron is on one of these videos giving his testimony and he said his brothers were the biggest hero's in his life. I think he lived in Brooklyn for a while, I don't know if he ever moved to Israel. I have the DVD and watch over and ove again. Shalom. Am Yisrael Chai!
not recognize the Holocaust is punishable in certain countries in europe it is a fact that the Holocaust has been something like that can not and should not be ignored and if you do you get in trouble BIG time
I seen the movie Defiance and I thought it was fucking amazing and now I watch this documentary and I trule honour the Bielski Brothers and what they did and if history is really repeating itself, then lets all gather up together and resist and do what they did and now make the holocaust repeat itself again
Bielskis aren't responsible for killing 128 people in Naliboki.
Bielskis aren't responsible for killing 50 people in Koniuchy.
Bielskis aren't responsible for running away and letting the Nazis kill Polish partisans. 500 of them died. It's a lie. They just decided to see what's on the other side of the river.
Bielskis didn't collaborate with the Soviets. They didn't. They made those weapons themselves.
Yes, the movie "Defiance" is a must see. Especially for those who say the "Holocaust" never happened. As it is said at the Holocaust Research Project "It was once said that not remembering the Holocaust means to side with the executioners against its victims; not to remember means to kill the victims a second time; not to remember means to become an accomplice of the enemy. On the other hand, to remember means to feel compassion for the victims of all persecutions."
With all due respect for the people that died and suffered in the Holocaust, this kind of statement is horseshit.Historical facts are historical facts, the rest is highly subjective and I don't want anyone telling me how to feel and what to think. Please remember that because of this whole WW2 mess and the creation of Israel,we have a global mess on our hands which began 50 years ago and will probably continue for years to come.Keep that kind of emotional crap for yourself, there's enough lunacy.
About the beating of the German soldiers, I dont think you will find anyone who rejoices in killing like thatesp. those who participated...but in times of war and unimaginable horror such as what the Jewish people and others were suffering,it is explainable for emotions, anger and grief to erupt in such a way. Did the German soldiers know everything, perhaps not but when they lined up whole villages and shot them, I think the knowledge of the evil of what they were doing would be hard to deny.
Maggerdaiser,I would like to apologize for my husbandkroppee, I am afraid that his strong words may have put you off and sidetracked you from the importance of what he was saying. You see I agree with him, I just feel that when he gets upset like that, the importance of his message can be overlooked or ignoredand it is an important message.
I just went and saw defiance myself and it was a great movie, everything this documentary said was basically put into the movie and put into a better sense of how the people actually felt.
I have always felt sorry for the German soldiers. They were out there fighting thru out the entire war . . . doing what they thought was right for a leader that brain washed them. I am sad to hear that they were beaten to death in this documentary. I wouldn't doubt that a lot of the Germans were naive and didn't fully know about the Jews being slaughtered. There were many victims in WWII . . . not just the Jews. US soldiers blindly follow Bush and they are good people.
just like we are naive about what happens in Iraq same thing happens in this case except thank God this time we dont have Auschwitz or anything instead its Guantanamo
you are a fool. you "doubt" germans knew about the slaughter. SIX MILLION PEOPLE WERE SLAUGHTERED, YOU IDIOT. there is no "DOUBT" in my mind you would have been one of those germans who were "naive" and allowed SIX MILLION JEWS TO DIE.
