  • @perkalator104 Gibson hands down

  • I love this guitar it is the best buy for the price.

  • A little distortion? Does that mean my guitars dont distort at all?! XP Lol good review! Ive heard mixed reviews on this one though. Which would be better as far as quality wise, this or the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top? (btw Ive played both)

  • @perkalator104 ive had both brands. i have a gibby les paul standard now but i still like my epiphones. but ive had 2 faded sg specials and the quality of the sg will be higher than that of the epiphone les paul standard. in the epi your toggle switch, input jack, volume/tone pots, or your pickups could all fart out unexpectedly. ive had it all happen to me but all my gibsons were rock solid. if i were you i'd get the gibson or find an epiphone elitist guitar. better than gibson

  • How much do thoes pickups cost

  • Where do you get the pickup covers from i have a Gibson SG special (not faded) and they are uncovered, from my local music shop? or would that be an online thing?

  • @andrewceg Try online music shops, I found some on musiciansfriend.

  • @XiaNingTian i cant really buy online, because i dont have a credit card, so my best bet would be through my music shop. does it change the sound if u put the pickup covers on?

  • @andrewceg Alright.... As for the sound, most people can notice a difference, but I can't. I hear reviews say that they're a little hotter without the pickup covers. The guitar will sound the same, but one will bring feedback a little quicker. Hope this has been helpful! Sorry if I wasted your time >_<

  • @XiaNingTian na man you havent waisted my time, thanks, i kinda just want to put them on to make it look better

  • @andrewceg Yea, it would look pretty nice on the high gloss finish.

  • @andrewceg If you wanna see if it changes the sound, put a metal ruler between the pickups and the strings and listen, it won't be an exact sound, but you'll get a pretty good idea of how it would sound

  • Does anyone know if the SG Special Faded will dent and scratch easily? I'm wanting to get this SG, but not if the faded one easily prone to damage from buttons, belt buckles and the occasional bumping into stuff.

With that said, may anyone please help me out? I just want to make a smart purchase.

  • Whats the difference between the special faded sg and the special sg?

  • @iankevinyea5 One has paint, and the other doesn't

  • @iankevinyea5 One has paint, and the other doesn't.

  • is i well balanced and about how much does it weigh?

  • love that u played some radiohead!!(:

  • practically all humbuckers sound the same through solid states

  • How much was this man?

  • a friend of mine told me that the faded series are just plain epiphones with the gibson logo stickered onto them, is this true or is it really manufactured from gibson? (sorry for the bad english)

  • @imsiepimsie --- Sorry to say that your friend really does not know anything about Gibson to make a statement like that. Gibsons are Gibsons, Epiphones are Epiphones. Gibson owns Epiphone and does not put their name on any guitar model that they do not manufacture themselves. Read the Gibson history on the Faded series, it's as real as any Gibson can get. The Faded series is a super bargain for any person wanting to own a real Gibson, and it is fast becoming popular as a quality guitar it is.

  • @greyhawk357 Yeah thats what i thought ;) but just because he plays guitar for like 3 and a half years he acts like he knows everything :P but i kinda lost interest in this guitar because i was searching for a bit more and i think id rather go with an ibanez dtt700 destroyer

  • Thats awesome, im getting that guitar pretty soon, great review, add me! and subscribe!

  • @HomeStudio94 its stop bar not soap bar.

  • Hey guys i havee a gibson sg special faded with a hard case and a wah pedal for only $1300 im located in australia victoria

  • @jhonnyfifafreak11 dude in canada you can buy a sg special faded for $740CDN new which is around $1300 AUS dollars new

  • @reviewteen

I believe he said an SG + case + WAH PEDAL

  • Good review of the SG. Please can you tell me what covers you used for the pickups, if you wax potted them and how you fitted them? Thanks very much.

  • hey how thick is the neck? i know not a ton of people ask that but i like thin necks cuz i find it easy to play. i have a epiphone SG and the neck, i finaly found out, is pretty darn thick.

  • boys..this Guitar is ok,for metal,hard rock,jazz and blues....i like so much,i don't like stratocaster

  • you didnt play black sabbath..

    come on.. seriously.

  • is this a good guitar to play stoner rock/metal like Kyuss, Sasquatch, Nebula and bands like Queens of The Stone Age?

  • i heard it goes out of tune really quickly, is that true?

  • Dude i had one of these and i was so in love with it, and i ended up having to sell it to fix my car. But i think you talked me into getting another, and thank you so much, id love to see you do a little 2-5-1-6 progression in Gmajor on this axe. i loved those clean tones man,.

  • this is my very first real gibson.....so happy!!! picking it up tuesday!!

  • @renesebasgg i have a les paul standard and i just bought a faded sg special. its a great guitar but it is cheaper than the faded studio les paul. but the faded les paul comes with way better pickups. if i were you, id get the sg and with the money you save from buying the les paul, put better pickups in it. like maybe gibson 57 classics, you wont be dissapointed

  • im so in love with this guitar, screw les pauls !!

  • I have the same but black!

  • I thought the special faded had uncovered humbuckers????

  • @Kreason95 he talks about that in the video????

  • @richogem sorry i commented before i saw that part

  • looks like you just bought that thing! i play the hell outta mine, had it two and a half years and the finish on the back is fading a little bit from all the play!

  • i see you put Pickup Covers on it, that makes it look alot better

  • when you bought it, did you order it from gibson or from a store like guitar center and for either one, did it come with a hardshell case or gig bag?

  • Haha, The Ink Spots! You just got some serious cool points :)

  • is there a big difference in this and a standard model?

  • @Partypunkarn not really just the finish and the inlays. the pickups are different on the standard, but there is really no difference in sound.

  • @TheSuperMerc actually on my gibson sg special faded, the neck pickup is super muddy.....its awful

  • Hey, i am kind of new to guitars and am just wondering how much pickup covers cost?

  • a tab bit distortion? seems a bit much but good review

  • Nice review, one question: is it very expensive to cover the pickups? I'm thinking about getting one of these and of course I prefer covered pickups. Thank you.

  • are the pots 500k

  • Where can you buy those plates who cover the pick-ups? Or did you just swapped whole pick-ups for humbuckers?

  • @speedRickspeed your local guitar shop has them probably in stock and otherwise they can order them for you;)

  • what amp are you using??

  • Looks like there's a big block of wood at the neck joint.

  • I don't want to set the world on fire?

  • 5:31-5:35 = sounds like the ink spots?

  • i might be buying 1 next week do you think i should go ahead with it? it looks good but i need some info

  • sweet guitar! but is this also similar to the sg special and standard and angus young sg special

  • holy crap, this guitar is so great, in looking and sound ^^ defently need to get one

  • sweeet guitar XP oh wait i have the same one :P lol i might get pickup covers as well

  • faded looks sweet and will look sweet 60 years later

  • i`d leave the pickups... they`re awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @TheWolfgirl101 well, it seems to be a special faded but how in the hell did you get those pick ups on????

  • great review!

  • god i love sgs

  • i gona get a new guitar soon i thinking of a gibson lp studio or a melody maker or a sg special faded wat shoud i get :)

  • @TheGnisslo sg, of course! xD

  • Mine is coming in the mail! Does it come with the covers for the pick-ups? I wasn't clear when you said you put them on yourself.

  • @StewieFan411 They didn't even give me the little knob for the pickup selector! Wow.

  • this is a sg standard, not special faded :P

  • @KingOfShadows1500 it is a special faded, he just added pickup covers. the sg standard has trapezoid inlays not dot.

  • @MultiGuitar12345 ahhhh! ok :P

  • @KingOfShadows1500 u can also change the pickups and put emgs on it...the stock pickguard wont fit them but i changed mine to a gray tortoise chell pickguard that would normally fit an sg standard (which fit emgs) and put new pickups on it...but thats a little more expensove than just buying pickup covers...well worth it though...way better sound and great look!!!

  • @bossmang9 kk :P

  • Is it difficult to play notes up high on the fretboard? Is it comfortable to shred on it with that neck?

  • Nice. I'm buying one, but not faded.

  • @TheWolfgirl101 the SG has a grungier tone to i

  • does the neck feel unpainted like Fender necks do?

  • I like Zeppelin/AcDc and classic rock. I also like Jazz. Would you say its an all around great guitar to play. Also, what can an SG do that a Les Paul can't?

  • @retsevlis Hey, take a look at VOLBEAT....the singer uses SG and the other player uses a Les Paul...this might help you decide----the SG seems to have its own tone when using distortion and Les Pauls are being used by some of the heaviest players around..Ramstien too...

  • excellent informative review

  • Great guitar, plays like a dream. You just have to watch out for little (or big) imperfections. Build quality isn't really consistent. The tuning machines and nut aren't all that good.

  • since when did a special faded have covered pick-ups?

  • you got that shirt at Target

  • I want to buy one of these guitars. Is £460 a good price for one, and is it worth it? Thanks

  • Is £460 a good price for a Gibson Special, and is it worth it?

  • is it any good for grunge and all that 90s rock music?

  • @dfftw Yea it's a great guitar for many different types of music. I use my Sg on everything from Prog. Rock to my Jazz tones. It has a very warm tone to it. I would really recomend trying one out at your guitar store to see if you get the tone your looking for exactly, but I might try posting some grunge/90's music later if that helps. If you have anyother questions feel free to ask, Thanks!

  • @HomeStudio94 Dude, whats better, this or the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Back Beauty?

  • @Macsk8ing HI, I own the Epiphone Les Paul Custom and its a pretty good guitar the only problem is the gold hardware will turn into chrome within 6 months.. and I suggest that you upgrade it with some good seymour duncan or gibson pickups;) then you have a very nice guitar! but I would go for the Gibson! I'm going to buy the Gibson SG Special this week!

    Cheers!

going to buy the Gibson SG Special this week!

  • @Macsk8ing Those are two VERY different guitars.

  • Nice guitar man!!

    Would you recommend it?

  • @TheNicolasMusic Yes I would definitely recommend it. The SG Faded is a great guitar at a pretty good price, but I would recommend you check it out for yourself at your local Guitar Center or Guitar retailer. If you have anyother question feel free to ask and thanks for watching.
