Yeah, I totally know what you're saying about makeup counter clerks lying to push certain products. I tested that theory the last time I was at Sephora. I asked 2 separate clerks at two different shifts a suggestion for something. BOTH of them said "Well, right over here we have...."(Benefit Cosmetics) around some of the most expensive products they sell. I was curious as to why they both went to the same brand when I asked two different questions. Definitely trying to push the brand.

@cowsgorawr1431 I do agree,but it really depends on who it is.There r still some really honest people who work@high-end makeup counters,one of which is my favorite who works at MAC.He suggests things that are tried-and-true products that he,himself,uses all the time.It is more bang for your buck,@least for me(For some things)to get"highend"products,only because the color payoff you get is 10x better than drugstore brands so in the end you don't have to use as much product therefore saving money.

If you actually took the time to watch their videos you would realize that they are really genuinely good people and always have a disclaimer when something is given to them or if they are paid (besides, all of thier opinions are thier own whether they are paid or not). Finally someone defending these girls. All I find are video's bad mouthing these sisters. I like how you said that if the person who wrote the blog really is a big guru on YouTube they wouldn't have time. That's true. A popular guru on YouTube wouldn't have time to trash another popular guru. I like their videos; they might not be the most professional girls, they're not make up artists, but I enjoy their videos and some of the tips they give are good. I personally don't care much about their personal life, and I don't know if they got nose jobs or what not, but in my opinion they should be left alone. They're not someone you might meet. You say that nobody pays you money for the reviews.That doesn't mean that it is so with those girls. As far as I read, they are paid and they admit that themselves. The thing I wanted to say is that it is not bad, I mean many girls call them liars and cheaters and so on. Yes, maybe, cuz they tell lies about some things in their videos. But you just don't have to believe everything that is said in the reviews...You have to read many opinions and watch several reviews and decide about the product.

You made the EXACT same point that I was trying to make. Companies push their products all the time.... why can't they? I watch Blair's vids, and I don't end each video by saying "OMG Blair likes this, I am gonna go buy it too just because!!!" If it looks like something I would want, then I might check it out. I agree with your comments concerning the gurus here on youtube. But what I find curious is that some of these "most popular" gurus are disingenuous with their viewers, some in the 100k. It is not exactly lying, it is more like false advertising. I don't fault anyone who "makes it" from the work they put into their Youtube videos. I love Elle too... Of course I'm jealous that she has tons of make up and clothes to review every so often, I've seen her make up collection. I want it, but I'm sure its taken her a long time to build that up. People who talk trash about these girls are only insecure about themselves.
You have good points and i love Elle. However they do get paid for videos. all youtube partners do, and they do get paid and compensated for advertising on their page, and by companies for using and mentioning their products. However they only use and review products they like and believe in so its fair. why not get paid to talk about and use things you love. I know I would! :)

This video is probably one of the most genuine videos I've seen in awhile. I agree with everything you said here, and it even enlightened me a little. Jealousy is such an ugly thing and sometimes it gets the best of us and we turn that jealousy into hate. What they've achieved is just awesome. It's best to just feel happy for them instead of hating. And I actually respect them for being responsible with personal details that really no one else has business knowing.

I'm sorry but what you said in the video is not true. You said they don't get paid by companies to make reviews/tutorials? That is false. They do get paid. It was published in the New York Times that they get around $5000 by a company just to mention the product in their video so really it is an infomercial.
I'm sure everything about them will come out soon enough since they have their own reality tv show starting it was announced on MTV's website.

I think it's funny when people complain about gurus receiving free stuff or being paid sponsors. Makeup isn't cheap especially if you are trying to make multiple videos a week. To be honest, I think those "haters" attack YT gurus b/c they want attention that they otherwise would not receive. I used to think rude thoughts, but I NEVER left them in comments. I kept them to myself. I think it is completely childish to treat people so horribly b/c you are too darn insecure w/ yourself to make yourself anything but a hater. I mean come on! It's not like these gurus are personally making your life a living hell so why do it to them?

I used to believe this blog and I think where I was caught was when Blair said she had a new car black no big deal.but then it turned out it was a new BMW and that backed up them being payed a lot of money.I sent Blair a message on Facebook and got no response so I think that annoys people I have since changed my opinion into a positive one

I agree with your comments concerning the gurus here on youtube. But what I find curious is that some of these "most popular" gurus are disingenuous with their viewers, some in the 100k. It is not exactly lying, it is more like false advertising. I don't fault anyone who "makes it" from the work they put into their Youtube videos. You have good points and i love Elle. However they do get paid for videos. all youtube partners do, and they do get paid and compensated for advertising on their page, and by companies for using and mentioning their products. However they only use and review products they like and believe in so its fair. why not get paid to talk about and use things you love. I know I would! :)

It sounds like typical girl catty jealous behavior to me. They are two very cute girls. Who cares if they are paying them to review items? Obviously its someone else who isn't getting paid who is bothered by it, but personally I do not believe that companies pay very often at all. Send them free items, yes. As far as what makeup counters are pushing. I may listen, but I know what colors and what type of products are for me or not so they rarely sway me in a direction I wouldn't go anyway. x

This video is probably one of the most genuine videos I've seen in awhile. I agree with everything you said here, and it even enlightened me a little. Jealousy is such an ugly thing and sometimes it gets the best of us and we turn that jealousy into hate. What they've achieved is just awesome. It's best to just feel happy for them instead of hating. And I actually respect them for being responsible with personal details that really no one else has business knowing.

I'm sorry but what you said in the video is not true. You said they don't get paid by companies to make reviews/tutorials? That is false. They do get paid. It was published in the New York Times that they get around $5000 by a company just to mention the product in their video so really it is an infomercial.
I'm sure everything about them will come out soon enough since they have their own reality tv show starting it was announced on MTV's website.

I think it's funny when people complain about gurus receiving free stuff or being paid sponsors. Makeup isn't cheap especially if you are trying to make multiple videos a week. Plus, these girls are not going to be young forever. They need to use their connections/fame to make a future for themselves (i.e Michelle Phan). Do you really think teeny boppers are going to watching E&B when they get wrinkles & gray hair? I think the blog makes 1 or 2 good points, but it mostly sounds like hearsay
