So tell me what produces more Carbon Dioxide ........ refining all Australian Iron Ore using Australian Coal in Australia or shipping all Australian Iron Ore and Australian Coal to Asia to have the ore refined. It is the later because you reduce CO2 generated during transportion. So all the "Carbon Tax" is doing is making it uneconomical to refine Australian Minerals in Australia which would produce Global CO2 Emissions. Labor is pathetic and only the ignorant vote Labor!!!!

When it comes to wind it is simple:

Wind mills supply power to the local grids. They get paid per unit supplied to the grid. This is monitored thru meter readings available at the turbine location. The wind supplier bills the grid based on units recorded by the grid. this is real, verifiable and measurable. Second, the Indian govt has emission factors for CO2 per MWh supplied to the grid. Hence you can know the CO2 emissions by multiplying the units by emission factors

He missed the most important point about carbon credits - additionality. Additionality means proving that the project would not have happened in the absence of carbon credits. In practice, this is very difficult to prove. If the project would have happened anyway, it is not a reduction.

What about a carbon tax? It would make it more expensive to pollute than to use a green source of energy. It could even be fairly easy to administer if the fossil fuels were taxed directly based on how much carbon they would emit if burned. Maybe issue some sort of tax credit to help people pay for the higher fuel costs without removing incentive to not pollute. Every one would get $1,000 dollars to spend on whatever, and that would be payed for with a carbon tax.

Regulation! How sad is it the only way you can convince people to do the right thing is if they can make a lot of $ doing so. That's BS & will ultimately fail. When people determine there's not enough 'profit' involved in trading CO2, they'll either quit or demand more $. You could also argue that unless there are polluters putting tons of CO2 in the atmosphere, there will be no $ made. Therefore, you may actually encourage people to pollute, just so they can make $ off it. Enron anyone?
