@southbr28 It depends on time period when you're referring to natives. The Nile is a long system running all the way down past Ethiopia. On the higher regions of the Nile, the natives were very mixed, very tan-like. The lower you went, the darker the skin usually got.
Egypt and Ethiopia are also different regions, so what would apply to one wouldn't apply to the other. They had similarities of course, but calling them the same thing would be strange.

Incidentally...Ptolemy was technically Egyptian, though descended from greek ancestry. His ancestors spoke greek and from the pov of ancient greece, if you spoke greek, you were greek.

Human adults argueing over the ethnic background of an ancient ruler they've never met is futile. There is no point in it, it brings no glory or flattery to anyone and only insults and hurts people. The Egyptians WERE NOT BLACK nor where they WHITE! Their skin tone was very similar to that of modern Arabs if not more tanned (even though Arabs were not in Egypt at that time) If you bother studying Egyptian art, you can see they extinguished themselves from other races including the Ethiopians and Asians.
Also, Cleopatra was from Greek heritage which means her skin was most likely olive toned.

@956y I hate it MORE when they focus more on Gender. Not ONCE has anyone ever credited this Woman with ABILITY. They focus on her looks and her sexual attributes... We'll I wasn't around during that time .. were you?, so what does it matter?. @sexyrose93 African doesn't even mean black, it just means you're from the continent of Africa. North Africa doesn't even have much blacks.
Also, Cleopatra was part of the Ptolemy dynasty which took power when Alexander the Great conquered Egypt. They were well known for inbreeding, and it is highly unlikely that they ever mixed with the native Egyptians, who themselves were not even black, but more tan-like.

@Vengrence African people skin tones come in different shades. Not all African people are dark! North African people are mixed with the europeans. Egyptians are African people! They have African features. I live in America, I'm brown skinned. But my ancestors are african people. To be a King or Queen you must have that bloodline to rule that land, unless you married you're own someone else among you're own people. Cleopatra was a black african woman.

@sexyrose93 Uh, I don't think you understand what a king or queen is. Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, ans as such he installed a Macedonian family as the Pharaohs of Egypt. That was called the Ptolemaic dynasty which Cleopatra was part of.
The Ptolemaic dynasty did not mix with the native Egyptians, and as such can't be black. African does not be black, so stop trying to mix up basic facts. You can be African, and still be white.

I never said you're skin is black/ dark skinned. My skin is tan also. African people have different skin complexions, yes some are darker than others. @sexyrose93 It depends on what your definition of white is. She wasn't ethnically Egyptian, that's for sure. Her family dynasty originated in Macedonia, and they heavily inbreeded as most royal families did to remain that way. Egypt has a long history. Cleopatra's dynasty only lasted a few hundred years, so it's just a small piece of it. Afterwards it was conquered by the Islamic Caliphate originating from Arabia.

@southbr28 It depends on time period when you're referring to natives. The Nile is a long system running all the way down past Ethiopia. On the higher regions of the Nile, the natives were very mixed, very tan-like. The lower you went, the darker the skin usually got.
Egypt and Ethiopia are also different regions, so what would apply to one wouldn't apply to the other. They had similarities of course, but calling them the same thing would be strange.

Cleopatra and the greeks only had really small parts of land, most of the nile even at this time was still ruled and governed by the Ancient Ethiopians(the natives of the nile).
When alex the great and them came they were building palaces and stuff, but the Ancient Ethiopians were still building pyramids, even at this time,the king of Ethiopia still claimed to be king of the whole nile valley.
