I've heard different. Just saying. I'm from Essex - people keep doors open for other people. people differ everywhere. I've heard from people working in Edinburgh who love it but say they've never got mugged so many times or seen so many drugs in their lives. And lets be honest, we do all drink tea.
Lets just say there's a variety of people everywhere and leave it like that. I speak like Hugh Grant, and i'm a tomboy. Stereotype = dead. it has to be used in media for marketing thats all.
@Nessie0Loves0Jacob I respect your view, yes stereotypes are very much like that, I would agree with you. There is trouble everywhere you go in this world, not everywhere is perfect.
I just want to marry your accent! lol.And I want to visit Scotland even more now. I want to meet friendly people and see all the beautiful places. Those "highlander" novels got me hooked on Scotland.lol. but to go there and visit would be a dream come true :) Anyways,I know this may sound silly but is there a high population of asians in Scotland? Its just a question that came to mind because I'm Asian-american and never heard of asian-scots or scottish asians (correct me if I'm wrong) before??
@PlusThisMinusThat hahaha I feel the same way about American accents. Scotland you will have no problem coming across that. You should read into the Picts, that'll make you feel something, especially when you walk into somewhere like the Cairngorms or Glen Coe. As for in Scotland, definitely :) that's why we have a lot of Chinese restaurants. There's even many Asians born in Scotland, many Asians that live in Scotland. You find most of the time, they're very friendly people :)
@PlusThisMinusThat I'm unsure though on percentage of Scottish-Asians, but I can definitely tell you, a lot of Asians come here to Scotland and study. My personal view of the people is that, they are very friendly. I think you'd like somewhere like Glasgow, as it's a city with many different people. Scotland in general though.
@JaclynGlenn So you studied abroad in Edinburgh? Yeah it's a touristy city because of being Scotland's Capital, Scotland is well known for being very friendly. And it's good to know the people treated you well, I've always told any Americans that they'd be more than welcomed here.
@JaclynGlenn They tend to do that with students that do study abroad programmes, taking them on trips, it's good at least you got around to other places. Make no mistake though, you get your certain arseholes here as well Jaclyn. It's enough proof that not everyone hates Americans, more of a complicated thing to explain that.
Outside of that, Scotlands treated like a region, a province, despite it founding the union via King James VI, and all its legacy, for nothing.
Just a province now to be battered and raped, and the SNP is a trojan horse in of itself, it and its "New Scots Program" instead of telling Scots their population is below replacement levels....1.3 which is historically impossible to reverse, we'll be extinct in less then 50 years.
They go and promote die-versity and the Communist EU, Scotlands fucked.
@CelticAngloPress Exactly CelticAnglo, That's why we need to fight to avoid the EU, people need to waken up to that truth, fuck, we're heading the same direction the way America is heading. Scottish Independence? I don't see wanting to join the EU Independence, our people fought thousands of years for this land, and they want to hand us over on a plate? it's worrying :(
Canada used to be the same way, super super friendly and safe, tons of Scots/Irish/English forefathers.
Places like Toronto today, where they used to be about 2-3 shootings a year before, theirs 2-3 a day, 350,000 thousand migrants per year (Scotland under thoughs circumstances will be ethnically cleansed in just 2 years) and everyone hates everyone....why? because all the natives fucked off up north.
Sad but I can see Scotland going the way of Birmingham and London soon, people leaving.
@CelticAngloPress It's worrying CelticAnglo, I wouldn't want to see things go that way, I love my country, nothing against foreigners, but I do see your point. I'll live by this country no matter what, and love it no matter what. If anything, I could only hope our country remains the way it is as friendly. Again, you only have to look around within the last 10 years, and there has been a rise of foreigners.
Scotlands more tolerant because it hasn't been balkanized by foreign immigration yet, its getting their, give it time, then it will be 100x more hostile then England or Anywhere else.
Racism is just a reflex to protecting ones own ethnicity and culture, unfortunately the politicians know that when you divide and conquer you get the power easier, hence Japan is extremely cohesive and sage and friendly, people say often of how almost Utopian it is
@CelticAngloPress Very strong point, when you think about it, the lack of migration makes sense. Funny enough, I spoke of this myself, I wouldn't want to see my country out numbered by my own people. So when you say it's a case of defending ones ethnicity and culture, you're right.
I have to kind of agree that in general the people in England tend to be impersonal or "polite" with strangers, while in Scotland the people are friendly and even playful even if they don't know you. Of course that is a generalization and there are all kinds.
@Jodagirl Pretty much so, I wouldn't question there being friendly people in England or those polite enough, that's without question. It does take all kinds I wouldn't disagree, but there's certainly a difference to up here to way down south.
I have traveled in Britain quite a bit. I lived in London for awhile. I got pretty good at guessing where people were from by their accent-- there are so many ! I dated a guy from Liverpool and his accent was way different from my friends in London who also had totally different accents depending on if they were from East End or West End.
@Jodagirl Aye, it's very different, even other places outside of London and closer to the city. As you would know, it's the stereotype that they all talk like Hugh Grant, which shows false lol
I've been to Scotland three times now (via Los Angeles, CA), as you know and yes, the Scottish people I've encountered (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and a few other remote towns on road trips) have been very friendly and warm. That is, unless I'm talking about Megabus drivers. OMG, do they take a rudeness test to get hired? My two worst (and frankly only negative) experiences in Scotland were on a Megabus: Þ
@hathi444 I'm sure there are the odd ignorant folk, I grew up surrounded by certain arseholes, but that's generally the point, you compare Scotland to most countries in this world, Scotland is one of the friendliest countries on the planet. The only ignorance I've ever had here, and I was born and lived here my whole life, was off of 2 English people up north and an Indian.
@ScottMcK9 Oh I never said they were ignorant, just arseholes. :-) In fact, the one driver on the way from Edinburgh to Glasgow was so bad I'd put him at the very top of my list of worst experiences on any holiday, anywhere, ever. I've never met a ruder man in my life. I'm not an expert, but judging by his features and accent he was "pure" Scottish and Glaswegian. That reminds me, I meant to write a letter to Megabus about him. Should proably get on that.
@hathi444 lol anywhere, ever? You sure you've been to London or the southern parts of England? The same country that knocked me and my friends back from camping 3am in the morning and told us to pitch the tent on the small bit of grass next to the motorway? hmmmm?
@ScottMcK9 Aye, sorry. I know your views on London and its inhabitants, but I'm afraid I don't share them. In my now seven visits there I have never met anyone ruder than that Scottish bus driver; not even the crazy drunk on the bus in Brixton at 4:45 a.m. who tried to pick a fight with me.
@hathi444 No offence or nothing, I don't believe that for a second, not when I have lived in Scotland my entire life and have never witnessed anything you claim. Never in my life. 27 years!
As for speaking about a bus driver, 4 visits you say to London, shows how much rubbish you talk, just about anywhere you walk in London you'll have folk walk right through you like you're not even there, that's higher than any ignorance you can find.
@hathi444 And the reason I know that's full of shite, because just about every Scot I know that's ever been to London could back me up on this, that anytime they've ever went to London, they've been walked through and all sorts.
If you're talking about one Scot, I cringe, and I can see where you're going with this, you're someone that's a wind up merchant waiting for me to take a pop at Americans.
@ScottMcK9 What in heaven's name are you on about??? If you don't believe me about this bus driver I can get you in contact with my friend Brian, a Glaswegian who was travelling with me. Plus I chatted with three other lovely Scots on the bus who agreed just what a dick this guy was; and how Megabus drivers were all the same (their words). Did you even read the first part of my original comment, about how friendly and warm I've found the Scottish people? Your attacks on me are way...
@hathi444 Your statement that you had never met someone so ignorant on your travels in your life, yet you had been to London how many times? When someone's been to London 4 times and says that a bus driver up here was bad, either the person's talking pish, or that bus driver must've been the biggest arsehole in Scotland, because trust me, it takes a VERY BIG arsehole, to outshine 4 visits to a city like London, and that's not even opinionated, that's a fact.
@ScottMcK9 But it IS opinionated and not fact. It's an opinion based on your own experiences. If London were so bloody awful no one would ever visit there. As such, it is one of the most visited cities on the planet. Again, I'm sorry you've had bad experiences there, but your experiences nor those of your friends can change the wonderful times I've had there. My opinion versus your opinion, neither is correct for each other. And yet again, I never said ignorant, I said rude.
@ScottMcK9 off base! Wind up merchant, are you mad? I'm the first person to criticise my own people, you know that. I LOVE Scotland; I plan to move there this year! And I've been to London seven times, not four. And so what if you're walking down a street in a big city and no one pays attention to you? That's how big cities are. No one paid any attention to me in Glasgow unless I spoke to them first, same thing. Though when I did, they were generally lovely. I'm NOT bashing Scotland!
@hathi444 And like I said regarding London, these were my experiences. I'm sorry you had different. I have a number of Scottish friends that love London and have travelled there with me. @BrickCityBoy89 I have much love for the American people, but of course in the series of videos will explain the stereotypes, that's if I can find a way to put this in short however lol
@ScottMcK9 yea, i get what you're saying, there's alot of idiots out there, but shouldn't worry about it, i actually get comments on some of my videos saying "thats why americans cant play football" and i asked the guy "why?" and he said "because i was playing on semi-pro and i thought i was the best", when all he had to do was check my channel and he would've seen that I have been doing every challenge not just easy ones.
@BrickCityBoy89 I fucking hate that, we've had several Americans play for us and I support Edu, even when Beasley was here and of course Bocanegra, hope he becomes captain, he's a legend in my eyes and one of my favourite players. I hate that stereotype, Americans have every right to football as us. And aye, even in FIFA, you will get daft wee silly comments about your difficulty level, I saw the skill move you pulled off hahaha that was fucking class mate lol that was.
@ScottMcK9 I think the funniest thing is when they say "its football not soccer", first we cant call it football because we have another sport called football in america and that would confuse everyone, and the best part is that the word "soccer" was actually made in England, soccer was short Association which is what they first called it
@BrickCityBoy89 Completely agree, it's not your peoples fault there's another sport called American football, I wouldn't fault American people for that reason. To me I don't care what Americans call it, bottom line is, they love the sport and that is really all that matters. Just because certain individuals can be ignorant, doesn't make the entire people this way, so to speak.
@BrickCityBoy89 True, don't think anyone could dispute that, like I say, my view point is merely of interest and enthusiasm, not a 'hate' like some folk.
I've heard different. Just saying. I'm from Essex - people keep doors open for other people. people differ everywhere. To me I don't care what Americans call it, bottom line is, they love the sport and that is really all that matters. Just because certain individuals can be ignorant, doesn't make the entire people this way, so to speak.

@ScottMcK9 Idiots will be idiots, but as long as you're getting more positive feedback than negative feedback, you're fine.

@BrickCityBoy89 True, don't think anyone could dispute that, like I say, my view point is merely of interest and enthusiasm, not a 'hate' like some folk.
