awww he's so cute!!, it doesn't really matter about the size tbh, he jumped bigger than him self and he looked happy and really adorable when doing it!! :D
It's sometimes easier for a horse to free jump because it hasn't got the distraction of the rider or the wieght of the saddle :) And that shetland has got springs on its feet ;)
I rode a shetland pony in a bareback chase me charlie (jump gets higher and higher every time you refuse your out) and I jumped a triple bar oxer higher than that.
It was so cute how she was cantering and a couple of strides before she started doing this half canter and half trot thingy hehe well it looked like it :) thats impressive, cause some ponies dont have the capability to do that. Some of the haters just dont realise that, and its probably cause they're not pony/horse owners. great vid :) xo <3
that looked bigger than four ft well done !! ha ha ha I would love to see the shetlands at my yard actually canter let alone jump :') seriously well done , don'e listen to the moobs telling you your pony is nothing special !
What is the big deal a shetland is small but is capable of the same things as welsh ponys so dont be so ammazed,a sheland is stronger than a cob.i have a minature shetland he can jump that height and can be ridden he is onle 9h
@moonminthehorse Yes because your everyday Shetland usually jumps this high.Sometimes I don't understand comments like yours. Every horse has the capability to jump high of course they do, the difference between horses who are capable and those few that do is training, fitness and confidence. Shetlands are usually left in a field as a companion or led around as a kiddies pony. Unlocking this degree of talent in a Shetland is a feat, and should be applauded just the same as a grandprix showjumper
@omgu8mynewt i havent missunderstood what genes are you said it yourself all horses have the same genes so if a thoroughbrrrrreed can jump than so can a shetland there is no difference in a jump in a shetland tat any other horse
@moonminthehorse Really, she thought it was a big accomplishment. It's very impressive, and you shouldn't be that rude. Also, it depends on the horse.
WOW. This just flippin blows my mind how people were fighting over BARREL SIZE! I mean, oh my gosh -_- Like a few people said beofre me, not all barrels are the same size. At a old barn of mine, they had barrels about 3'5 feet, but at my newish barn i ride at they have barrels about 4 feet. How is someone saying all barrels are the same size? That just, oh my god, like, blows my f***ing mind.
@ForeverHoofbeats Lying? In what way? The height? How the heck would you know how big it is? You don't. Since when have you been able to tell how big a jump is from picture/video? Jumps looks smaller when on a screen. They've uploaded this video to show a talented, little pony, not for you to comment saying 'this video's lying'.
It amazes me how people think their virtual measuring tape is more accurate than someone elses actual measuring tape. It's 4 feet if that's what it was measured. You people that say that it's lying are wrong and have just made themselves sound like idiots. (Also people learn to spell correctly).
Jeez, I've been watching lots of horse videos and it amazes me with the amount of jealous haters there are. Your shetland pony is so talented and don't listen to those who just want to be repetitively complaining about the size of the jump! :D
@ForeverHoofbeats I am sure you're only calling me a liar because you are behind the comfort of a username. But that's fine, I know you're only saying it to make your self feel intellectually superior.
She is so cute and she cleared that really well :) I wish the little shetland we had for a while would do that :) Dont worry about people saying anything about the size you were there and you know :)
To all the people being pedantic about the size of the jump and to those who claim they "Have these barrels and are not 1.20m in size." I would like to remind you that 1) Barrels can and do vary in size. 2) You were not there to measure it, therefore you can not debate for definite the size of the jump. As you can read I am not a half wit, I am perfectly capable of measuring jumps. I uploaded this video to show people a talented Shetland Pony, not so people could tell ME how high she jumped.
Im pretty sure that this mini pony's owner is not just the kids. I would think that a grown horse experienced adult own it. Im pretty sure that the owners r capable of knowing whats good and bad for THEIR pony. I dont think that the owners would let these kids come out and work the pony if they knew that they would do something like this that they think is cruel. This is NOT your guys's pony so u do NOT know what is good and bad for this pony. WHO KNOWS!? it was prolly trained to jump higher....
I love shetlands! I ride this pony who i believe is a shetland mixed! He is sooo cute, me and him are jumoing 2'6 :) He is a amazing and loves to jump. Great video! :D And yes shetlands are strong :)
You pony is soo cute :) and she's a fantastic jumper. And for all those who think she was going too fast she's a lot smaller then the average horse so she needs more speed going up to the jump. I only say because I have experience with smaller horses :)
how do you guys know how tall those barrels are? seriously. the barrels i have are about 2 foot 10 but the barrels that my 4h club has are about 3 foot 9. not all barrels are the same height, stop acting like you know it all, because you obviously didn't measure this jump. :P
What's the big deal about? The pony cleared the jump no bother at all. Shetland ponies tend to rush anyway, not because they're scared. They are just always up for mega fun (: Js.
@BecaBoo21 u cant even see HER face from the glare and she was no way forced. There was no whip and she was free to stop. She rushed by her self and it was to clear it. If she had hit the pole it would have fell and she would be fine. Now where exactly is the cruelty?
people may say that its cruel and unusual, but it's not. i've seen horses smaller than that one jump the same height, no lead ropes, or anything just an awesome pony
@BettyG201097 just wondering, no harshness in my words, im NOT starting a fight, but how can you tell on the vid? you cant really tell the size of somthing like that lol
@BitterSweetMisery300 no, I dont want to argue, but I have some barrels just like that, and they are only just 3ft6. great pony, great job, but by the looks of it, that jump was about 3ft6-ish. Im not critisizing! That was a brilliant jump, but the jump looks a lot lot smaller than 4 ft <3
guys, does it really matter if you lot don't think it's 4ft? if charlie says it is, it is. you lot wern't there, so who are you to judge!? this pony was amazing, still is, and will be in youtube history forever <3 rest in peace little pony <3
@Shilott Love it, love it! Love that pony! But, you're just wrong about the height. Those are standard barrels, which are 3 feet tall. And the rail is another 3 inches. The pony jumped 3'3"....which is still impressive. Not sure how you imagine it being 4 feet.
Reading these comments I want to say one thing. The pony could have jumped it if it was scared, if the horse is more afraid for the human chasing it than the jump, it will jump. But this pony didnt look scared or anything, and they need a little speed to get over a high jump.
@BecaBoo21 Oh yes, if he was scared refuasal was always an option. Now, if you would let people who ACTUALLY know what they are talking about speak, you maybe wouldn't look like a moron.
@BecaBoo21 If he was scared he wouldn't have jumped it stupid, a girl isn't gonna stop a pony from not jumping a fence if he don't wanna, so stop trying to be a smartass.
@BecaBoo21 I own 16 horses 2 of them are Shetlands they refuse to jump sometimes at the same height of that fence! Peanut Butter (my 7 year old Shetland) can't even jump a 5 inch fence since he gets so scared! But my sweet little Shetland mare Classy (she's 13 years old) can jump technically 2 feet!
okay, am I the only one sick and tired of the comments on EVERY SINGLE horse video saying the same things??? ex. "thats too cruel!!" "horses arent supposed to do that!!" "yadda yadda yadda." seriously?? every horse is an idividual, and as for this particular video, there is no fear, no stress, no pressure, no cruel and unusual punishment here. Seriously guys, this is Youtube, not PITA.
@BecaBoo21 Listen I think the owner knows more then you do... It's her pony not yours. If you wanna stop your horse from doing what it loves doing then do as you wish but don't TELL other people to
the horse would'nt do it if he didnt want to/was scared. u would have been able to clearly see the whites of his eyes & he wouldn't have that kind of form over the jump if he were that scared. It looks like he is rushing, but for any horse with that ratio of their height to the jump height has to get some speed to do well, plus I'm sure he added a cheat stride in there that can look a little odd sometimes.
owner: your 1 blessed gal! dont listen to h8ers u 2 go out there & kick butt!
i'd jut like to say to all the people on here that say this is cruel;;
my miniature is 4 years old and only 34 inches high. But guess what? She loves to go XC jumping and will jump up to 3'3 alongside my other horse. She abosolutely loves it , she has her ears forward, steady canter and just pops it like a pro. She LOVES TO JUMP. Why stop a pony from doing something it loves just coz its small?i can't ride my miniature but that doesn't make ANY LESS of a pony than any other pony.
you guys are being rediculous. He actually looks like he's enjoying himself! Ears are pricked and alert, no flattened and afraid- and he runs right up to it without a thought! His handler obviously gave him enough room to refuse or turn away if he wanted. He even sped up ON HIS OWN at 0:02. Give her a break!
Lol alot at people saying about him being 'scared' ! If he was that afraid he wouldn't jump the thing! After all he is a Shetland too-enough said! Well done to him... :)
Ur scaring him!!!!!!!! Look at his expression as he aproaches the fench he is horifyed!!!!!!! If he really wants to jump put logs out in a pasture and if he wants to he will jump them!!!!
@THEhunterJUMPER13 Lol, you really know nothing about horses if you think he is scares. Shetlands love to jump, if he didn't want to do it he could have refused, no one was forcing him.. Please only comment if you actually ,know what you are talking about.
@Shilott haha, especilyy since the way the light is, the horses face is silhouetted out, couldnt see a thing past the shape of it until he was over and done
The barrels over here are standard 50 gallon barrels that measure in at 3 feet. With a pole on top they are 3 feet 3 inches. I can see yours being about 4 feet depending on the pole height and the barrel height.
What is peoples problem? Maybe poys wouldn't let it compete but is it jumping that everyday? Is it worked really hard? I dont think so? Have you not got anything better to do than criticise everyones achievements? Act your age. I bet you couldn't do that and yet you have the cheek to criticise a little Shetland? I don't know what goes on in your little pea sized brain...?
My old pony (a palimimo shetland) could jump that high! It is amazing to watch! x

DaHoss17 10 months ago
@BecaBoo21 to me it looks like the pony's ears are pricked forward ??? that doesnt look like fear to me?
roseytozz 10 months ago
@BecaBoo21 Im sorry but it is kinda hard to control your horse from ruching when he is on a lung line :/
horsejumper101clay 10 months ago
that pony does look quite frightened to jump that tall fence, but
then again, ponies are small and obviously it would be, but cute pony and
that was amazing how you actually got him to jump that, well done(:

okay, am I the only one sick and tired of the comments on EVERY SINGLE horse video saying the same things???

@BecaBoo21 If he was too scared, he would have refused, or misbehaved.

@BecaBoo21
the horse would'nt do it if he didnt want to/was scared. u would have been able to clearly see the whites of his eyes & he wouldn't have that kind of form over the jump if he were that scared. It looks like he is rushing, but for any horse with that ratio of their height to the jump height has to get some speed to do well, plus I'm sure he added a cheat stride in there that can look a little odd sometimes.
owner: your 1 blessed gal! dont listen to h8ers u 2 go out there & kick butt!

i'd jut like to say to all the people on here that say this is cruel;;
my miniature is 4 years old and only 34 inches high.

Give her a break!
zanzibar120 10 months ago
Lol alot at people saying about him being 'scared' ! If he was that afraid he wouldn't jump the thing! After all he is a Shetland too-enough said! Well done to him... :)
Stace09ful 11 months ago 4
Ur scaring him!!!!!!!! Look at his expression as he aproaches the fench he is horifyed!!!!!!! If he really wants to jump put logs out in a pasture and if he wants to he will jump them!!!!
THEhunterJUMPER13 11 months ago
@THEhunterJUMPER13 Lol, you really know nothing about horses if you think he is scares. Shetlands love to jump, if he didn't want to do it he could have refused, no one was forcing him.. Please only comment if you actually ,know what you are talking about.

Your shetland pony jumps the same height as my 40 000$ jumper -_-"
