  • Nobody told me I had to believe in a god. I dont know what 'atheist philosophy' is. of course. yes. Don't know. Consciousness. We do. God as a concept doesn't make sense so me imagining I'm God makes even less sense. same answer. Define religion. Same answer.
  • If a god existed then we wold know him, would we not?

  • Christians have to do better than this to convert us. Fuck's sakes.

  • Flagged: Stupidity.

  • Why do atheists need to answer a list of half scientific half philosophical questions you can learn for yourself? Read a book. The personal ones are just opinion and therefore worthless since it is unlikely you are aiming for gathering this data for anything useful.

  • Read some Dawkins. There is no "fighting" for atheism. We just don't want you theists bothering us with your religion. It is logically impossible for there to be an all loving god who allows eternal suffering. It is impossible to prove and so we don't accept it. You don't see atheists posting youtube videos with questions for christians, that's because we don't care. To answer one of your questions, we don't need to fear punishment, like children, to know what is morally sound.

  • why does it look like you have boobs?

  • 1. Belief is not a choice or "decision", you are either convinced about something or you aren't.

i AM an atheist because I do not find the claims of religions to be convincing.

    2. Because theistic religions seek to retard scientific progress and overall seem to be the catalyst of multitudes of depraved and morally void acts.

    3. No, I consider my world view to be as open as humanly possible, its only limits being reason and logic.

  • @KevinLounsberry 4. No. You can't know anything is real without the scientific method. But you're right anything can be rationalized, this is because you don't need reason to rationalize, leaving rationalizations open to being unreasonable.

    5. I believe life came about through the big bang in which all elements were formed and the 4 chemicals of which DNA is composed.

    6. Love and guilt comes from the benefits of reproduction and the repercussions of potentially harming assets.

  • @KevinLounsberry 7. Nothing is "wrong" or "right" things are only helpful to someone, hindering someone, or not effecting someone. Right and wrong can apply only to verifying facts and are inapplicable to the subject of morals. It is decided by the individual.

    8. You were unspecific, but I'll just assume you're talking about the Christian god which Christians keep telling me is omnipotent. If I were he, I would snap my fingers and there would be only good and no evil forever, amen.

  • @KevinLounsberry 9. If god did exist yeah, I'd like to know him, I'm not sure I'd be very good friends with him though. He never even talks to me, what a douche. And all the people I know who say they talked to him are always telling me he wants to burn me forever. How could I make friends with someone like that? The guy even burns babies just cause of some grudge he has with their great grandmother.

  • @KevinLounsberry 11. It is impossible to choose a religion. As I stated in 1, belief is not a choice, I can't just suddenly believe in sky men or physics defying powers or magical negative and positive energy forces because I am not convinced. I suppose I'd rather be a buddhist than anything else I know about. They seem pretty nice.

  • If there's a god who loves you, why is your christian video's sound and audio so fucked up?

  • 1. Because I looked at all of the religions of the world, and thought that none made ANY more sense than any of the others.

    2. I fight for athiesm because bad things are done in the name of religion, crusades etc.

    3. No, I don't

    4. Yes, but that's because science has a rigouus system for proof, and some things are too complex for us to currently prove.

    5. While I don't have to answer this (athiesm just says no belief in god) personally I believe evolution, starting with simple acids.

    seenx

  • Dude you're fucking stupid. You're trying to fit the universe and all that it holds into your small little box of understanding. For lack of a better word, LAW is the relatable term. If you want to play a game of semantics, play with yourself.

  • You are bias and closed minded. Enjoy your beliefs but stop trying to disprove ideas, concepts and evidence you don't understand.

  • Your problem is that you take the Bible to literally, and it's existence alone carries little weight as to how the universe was created. I love how people like you intrust science when it comes to every aspect of your life, but when it comes to maters that people relate to religion you make it out as some villainous untrustworthy method thats only purpose is to mislead people, and tear them from their religious believes.

  • You overlook millions of hours of mans efforts throughout time to understand his world, to make a statement that has nothing backing it. To claim that I fail is just an ignorant statement. If there is a God operating in a paranormal way, he has intentionally hidden this from us. And even if that's the case there's no reason why a good deal of science couldn't represent his actual methods of creation.

  • The universe is governed by the laws of physics. There is no evidence anyone can point to that shows that there is any paranormal properties at play. Your argument dismisses everything science has learned over the past 2000 years. I have no problem with the idea of the paranormal. I actually enjoy the idea a great deal. But liking something does not make it so.

  • @theantiismist You should pay more attention. I think I've heard many thoughtful responses to questions like theses throughout my life. You might read some of the comments here and give them a bit of thought. I know I have.

  • #9 If I knew that there was a God I would make every effort to know and understand him. His intentions and why it is that he created us and how I could better serve him and mankind. #10 I would not make a choice that effected the freedom of others to believe as they choose. If I could effect religion in any way I would probable encourage the idea of live and let live. #11 I don't pick. I am who I am. I did not choose to not believe in God, I just don't. All religions are the same to me.

  • #7 Again it's subjective. I try not to be negative and respect others believes and lifestyles. I don't have to agree with someone to support their right to be who they want to be. #8 If I was God I would simple reveal myself to the world and support my creation in understanding their purpose and my intentions. I would make it clear that all should respect one-another. #8 part b I would supply the world with the proper amount of resources so that no one had to struggle just to survive.

  • #1 You don't decide to be an atheist. It's a natural response to the world one lives in(fore some).

#2 I don't fight for atheism, I simple don't like the religious views of others to dictate how I should or shouldn't live my life. #3 Not at all. #4 Yes. Science is not all knowing, it has to work at achieving answers. #5 Naturally. #6 emotions are are simple chemical reactions that help us to survive and procreate in our world. The meanings we apply to them are subjective and personal.

  • Fail

  • 1. We don't live in a time where everything was a result of "Angry Gods", in modern day we can explain events like storms and quakes. 2.I don't fight, I defend. Also, its not a philosophy. 3.Yes, but future technology will change that. 4. Yes: Emotions 5. I don't know. I don't have all the answers. 6. Your hormones 7. No one. There is only "Just" and "unjust". 8. I don't ponder about what is impossible. 9. he doesn't, I am certain. 10. I wouldn't, everyone deserves freedom of belief. 11. None.
  • 1) Reason, common sense and critical thinking.

    2) Atheists don’t fight for atheism. Most fight for freedom and equality. Most fight for freedom of thought. We fight against other people forcing their views on us.

    3) No. It’s only limited by imagination. You know, like where religious beliefs come from.

    4) Like what?

    5) Evolution. Science doesn’t have all the answers but it has more answers than man made superstitions.

  • I'll have to use two response to answer.

    1) Reason, common sense and critical thinking.

  • If you say, without any justification, that "God always was", we can just as well say "matter always was". No double standards.

  • You dont understand atheism... Go on wikipedia or somthing and then watch some of the amazingatheist pahaha.

  • 11. If I had to take a religious belief, it would be a faith in the human condition to rise above our petty differences for the common good, and a belief that we will eventually overcome all adversities against us. It would not have anything to do with a god or preserving myself in the afterlife.

  • 9. Yes. But only if he presents himself to me in an undeniable way and didn't expect me to "know" through faith alone.

    10. It'd be a tie between all of the Judeo-Christian theologies, including Catholocism, Christianity and Islam. Because they are the most intrusive ones and the biggest splinter in humanity's side.

  • 8. The list would be massive. But for starters, I would not make death painful or scary. I would make my presence known, and I would allow people to decide whether or not they liked me without threatening to banish them to hell. I would honor free will, and treat it with dignity. I would not regard my people as possessions to be owned, and I would allow them some credit for their accomplishments. I would be proud of their success, and give love as it is definitively best for our kind.

  • That being said, I have a question for you: According to what you believe, is the moral law moral because God commanded it? Or did God command it because it's moral? If it's the first, God is a tyrant. If it's the second, he contributed nothing. Chew on that for a minute. To continue...

  • 7. Morality is a phenomenon intrinsic to social species, and is geared toward that species survival. Things that are detrimental to the society that place an individual above the collective are most often seen as "Wrong" and things that contribute to the society and make it stronger are most often seen as "right. Murder destroys the species. Theft diminishes trust, which is essential. But charity uplifts those in need and contributes. Honesty builds trust and strengthens bonds.

  • 5. I have no belief about how life came about. I am waiting for an objective, observable answer, as with all other things. Abiogenesis has provided some fascinating studies that you should take a look at.

    6. Study psychology. There are natural, materialistic answers for these things. The brain is a fascinatingly complex organ, and I think you underestimate exactly what it's capable of. Much of it is instinctive, other things are socially conditioned.

  • 1. I didn't decide on atheism. Why did you decide not to believe in pixies? Mine is the default position.

    2. I don't fight for atheism. I fight against religious zealotry, and to keep religion private and without intrusion to society and academia. And that does matter.

    3. Yes, I would. And I would also that that you do, and that you've given me no reason to change mine.

    4. No. I would only say that there are things science has not yet found the answer for. That's the purpose of science.

  • 8. Personally, I wouldn't change anything, because I would be God and wouldn't care about a random planet full of creatures. But otherwise, I could just banish evil - something the Christian God seems to have trouble with.

    9. I would want to know God if the benefits outweigh the costs. If God was a jerk, I would obviously prefer not to. But if he could make my life 100 times better, I would like to.

    10. The one that's historically been the worst for mankind.

    11. Pointless question, sorry.

  • 1. Too many reason to name

    2. Fight for atheism, because religions are anti-progressive.

    3. No. WTF?

    4. Real? we can't know. Rational? sure.

    5. Abiogenesis (best guess so far)

    6. The brain and the fact that we are social creatures, who benefit from being cooperative within our society.

    7. Right and wrong is entirely subjective - society's laws are supposed to reflect this based on the majority (but often fails)

  • Err..because science has established beyond all reasonable doubt that nothing supernatural can exist or does exist, that's why I'm an atheist like mosts scientists are. And religion/superstition is a ridiculous and dangerous relic from the dark ages that we really need to get rid of as soon as possible. Cheers.: )

  • If I were god it would be important to me that all of the people on the planet knew the absolute one truth about me. I would not leave it up for debate or individual interpretation (especially when their souls are on the line), I would be sure that there was no confusion about the matter, whatever it took to make sure everyone knew - miracles, scientific proof, whatever. I would not allow people to go around killing each other based on disagreements over my nature and wishes.

  • 1. I didn't decide on it. Belief is not subject to will. 2. Because if atheism is correct, everything spent in deference to religion is a waste of the little time you have. 3. Yes. 4. Not that I can think of. Examples? 5. Abiogenesis is the my best guess. 6. Chemicals in the brain. 7. Society. 8. Good people, regardless of their belief in me or lack thereof, go to Heaven. Bad people get punished for a little while, then reincarnated to try again. 9. Yes. 10. None. 11. Unitarian.
  • 1) Because no logical method of thought has given me reason to think otherwise

    2) It's important to work towards equal representation (specifically in the US) to achieve equal rights and standing as religious citizens

    3) Not in the slightest. I have as rich of a world view as anybody, and through my observations and studies and thought, I find atheists are more complete at seeing the world than others

    4) No, I can't think of any.

    5) A wealth of time for the universe to explore possibilities

  • 10 minutes of reading the bible, especially the old testament, defines god as a petulant, violent, short tempered psychopath. Who would want to get to know someone with these personality characteristics? Psychotropic medications have gone a long way towards helping people who experience these types of paranoid delusions.

  • 1) Was a former Christian; 2) Yes; 3) No; 4) Like what?; 5) Big bang; 6) Chemicals; 7) No-one; 8) Remove it; 9) Yes; 10) Judaism; 11) Taoism/Confuscism

  • That is really weird video.

There are weird beeping sounds and the video seems to manipulate..

  • 10. If I really could I'd do alot of research on which one'd have the biggest impact for the better. But for this time I'll just say the biggest one.

    11. Buddhism, it fits my lifestyle best out of all the religions I know.

Anyway, great video; it caused some very intresting comments and I hope people'd as intrieged by my comments, as I were of theirs.

  • 8. Couldn't hear what you said at 1:02-1:07, but I'm guessing you want to know what I'd do if I could be God. Big question... I guess I'd try to setup some kind of goal for life and reaching it'd grant some kind of reward. Oh, and I'd deal with all the grief and sorrow in the world, it's so unnecessary.

    9. Probably, I'd ask him some intresting questions, about life, the world, and of course his actions.

  • 7 continuation. read a book written a long, long time ago to find our moral and ethics. If you're having trouble realizing wether or not something is good or bad. Try to weight the loss and the gain. How many people will be affected by my decision? Also, having ultimatums like "Thou shall not lie" stops people from thinking for themselves and relieves them of responsability, which obviously is quite dangerous in some situations.

  • 6. It's, basically, some chemical reactions inside our brains, but I honestly cannot explain how our brains interpret it. But since I doubt it's something magical I believe that we'll one day be able to program robots to have these kind of emotions.

    7. I'm asuming you mean stuff like theft, lying, etc. I'm an atheist, my parents are atheist and almost everybody I know are atheists, that's how it is in Sweden. My parents tought me that right is right, and wrong is wrong. We do not need to...

  • 5. Well, I believe that the right conditions happend. A bunch of chemicals were hit by lightning, and the first life began. Since this was so long ago, that the evidence might be alittle farfethced. However, I was told this by my old science teacher, who in all seriousness is one of the most intelligent persons I've ever met. Plus it makes sense from a biological stand-point.

  • 1. Because I havn't seen (or there aren't any) evidence to prove God's existence.

    2. Because it is something I believe in, just as many religious people fight for their belief.

    3. I agree that we are not know much about some of the great mysteries of life, but we're working on it to find out - instead of replacing them with fairy tales.

    4. I couldn't think of any examples, but I think I know what you mean. As I said in 3, we're working on it to find out, and until then we don't know.

  • Number 22: WHy are you such a fat douche bag!!!

  • on a side note,I have no idea why this video is so low rated, the questions are excellent, well put, polite, and to my knowledge gq is sincere in asking them, even if he wasn't the questions are valid

  • I don't hate jews more than others, my decision is based on the fact that it led to others so removing it would confound the success of the successive religions deriving from it including mormonism probably

    11?

the one I'd affiliate to most closely is probably that one that's about jon frum or something, seems the closest to atheism in terms of behaviours (more like imagination play of children than the other religions)

    wood control towers etc etc

  • 9: it depends on how the god treats others and myself, given that I can communicate, it'd make for great convos, I love learning

10: I was tempted to say judaism, as it's the originator of christianity and islam, but you might mean it wouldn't affect the others, and even if it did I have no clue about what might fill the vaccuum, if you mean that noone knows about that religion after I wave my wand, judaism

christianity and islam would be that much less credible

  • 8: speaking as someone who doesn't know a life different than my atheist own I'd probably tell the religious that the atheists have a good idea going, and to think about things, and to actually get rid of some of the environmental problems like smog in major cities, just a minor touchup on earth, and telling everyone to pay attention to my creation not what they think of me, and disperse :p

  • 7: morality is a question everyone asks and to this day we still do, it's tied in heavily with our existence in the first place, but generally the majority must be comfortable without violating the minority

however what do we do when the minority say witch hunts are bad? well, it is everyone's duty to investigate morality I argue and to not rely on comfort but facts to better themselves and everyone else's situation

aka: more for me, but some for everyone!

  • touchup on 1, 2, 4

I believe based on what I've seen of history and current events that according to my personal morals, religion makes for people doing evil and thinking it's good, this led to why I'm an atheist as opposed to just confused about the whole notion, I was never a christian, just agnostic raised in a christian family science depends on us, and the meaning differs a bit among people, some would say science just means what we do to know the world, and some say chemistry and phys

  • 5: the beginning of life? I would say noone knows quite yet, but recently scientists made an RNA string or something that self replicates

so that research looks very promising and we might have a good clue within 30 years is my guess

6:since I don't know much about it, I'll have to simplify admittedly, chemicals, electricity, and yes, we are more than these, we are the pattern of energy that goes through different kinds of matter that make us up, I don't ignore feelings although I know their base

  • simplification tends to ignore facts about reality, and I would personally believe that the more we understand on a whole the better, for instance "how would you feel if someone did that to you?" requires knowledge, scientists would say as a mock example... well I'd feel bad, they probably feel the same, we'll agree not to do "that" to eachother for both our good sakes

religious people might say "but they're cast out from god so I'm allowed to but they're not"

    aka: the double standard

  • 2, 3, and 4 all tie in with what I'm going to say next

I would agree that I have a limited world view, bt I do not agree that a theist has an unlimited world view or special access to one

science and religion are mostly about methods of discerning the truth of reality

science can be frustratingly slow to move along, but our understanding of the universe compared to that under religion goes turbo

ignorance often means simplification, our gift is insight, and understanding

  • 1: while noticing that I had a tendency as a kid to get ideas and have inner dialogues with myself, without knowing what the other thing was except that it wasn't a full personality but mirrored and challenged my initial thoughts on subjects, I found quickly that it did not have any knowledge I couldn't derive myself, albeit it might take 1.5 times as long, most people thought this was god, but it only knew as much as I did, so I had no proof of a god

  • 1. Only rational conclusion I could come to 2. Religion is virus of mind / no "atheist" philosophy 3.Not in the least 4. Some, but I think that knowledge will increase and more will be understood 5. Research seems to support the notion of abiogenisis as a reasonable hypothesis 6. Evolved as survival tools 7. We do, it doesn't take a command from on high to realize killing is bad 8. Eliminate it 9. Sure, IF he existed 10. Islam - currently most problematic 11. One with no god belief
  • 1. I realized there's no God and stopped believing. I understand, having come from religion, that you don't quite understand this since the leap of faith is such a decision to believe but I didn't do that. 2. I don't, I fight against religion sometimes. 3. Of course. 4. No. 5. I don't know. 6. Evolved as survival tools. 7. You do of course. Scared of that responsibility? 8. I would have to BE God to answer 9. Not really 10. hubris 11. nonsense question
  • 1) because theism doesnt make sense 2) because theism is a danger to me 3) yes 4) no 5) abiogenesis 6) evolution 7) no 8) irrational question 9) no 10) monotheism, because it is evil 11) evolutionism
  • here is a question for you /if tommorow science proved there were no god would you still belive in one,Did you know there are over ten thousand gods worshiped before jesus came around ,and that has been documented. It started on cave walls ,guess who was first THE SUN , did man have a infintile moment ? I think so .Try saying this I BELIVE IN MYSELF dont bother with replies i know the truth and i can accept it .Dont need belive in another cultures fairy tale.

  • hindouism is 5000 years old and worships 34 main gods, as christians are only 2000 years old. Holy books are a good way of ruling a society and keeping it moral, but their explanation of world's misteries is outdated. Might have been good when the known world was ending at the villages sourrounding yours. Seems childish at the era of space shuttle, nuclear plants and electronic microscop. God doesn't exist, it doesn't matter. But we surely need to learn how to treat each other.

  • 1. too many religions

    2. "indoctrination" of children. ex creationism

    3. i cant imagine anyone who doesnt have a "limited world view"

    4. certain theories in science ex. evolution

    5. abiogenesis is not perfect, but it's the best so far.

    6. my noggin

  • 7. wrong and right is a difficult concept. certainly violating human rights is wrong, but there is no static boundary between right and wrong.

8 i'd have my work cut out for me. fix droughts, famine, disease, as well as, removing warlords from power and stopping as much inane conflict i could.

    9. sure, i'm sure we could have a great conversation.

  • 10. Islam would have to go.

    11. I'd probably be a Mormon because i hear they're into some kinky shit, lol

  • 11. And lastly, probably Hinduism, because I agree with (most) of its morals.

  • 9. If there were a god, I don't see how all 6 billion of us could get to know him. If he was my supreme master, I wouldn't bother with my simple life.

    10. In an attempt to be unbiased, I will say Christianity, considering that would get rid of the largest religion of the world.

  • 8A. I'd remove theocracy from the world, and more importantly to me, teach the people of this world some animal rights. I'd also tell people to only have one child so we can reduce our population some. (Seriously, 6 Billion of us, 40000-60000 Grizzly Bears, and about 1000 Pandas. Is there anyone besides me who has a problem with this?)8B. Well, I'd give our hard working scientists all the information about the universe, and fix environmental problems, possibly grant more species intelligence.

  • 6.Any feelings we have are chemical responses of the brain reacting to certain situations. I also dislike when religious people act like other members of the animal kingdom don't experience these either.

    7. Honestly, there is no "wrong" and "right". Things happen, and we judge them.

  • 1. I didn't really decide on atheism, its more like I didn't decide on religion.

    2. Because I am tired of religious zealots running countries, starting wars, and hindering scientific advances.

    3. No, because if you understand science you understand that new discoveries can change the scientific view in an instant.

    4. No

    5. I think the theory of Primordial soup is the most accurate theory suggested as of now.

  • Greek... cause there gods and godesses were the most badass... maybe norse.

In other words none of the modern ones...

Scientology would be the least likely one and is prolly the only religion i actually want to be stopped by force. so change muslim to scientology for previous answer...

  • Thank you for your answers I really appreciate the effort!

  • 8.) its irrelevant but first thing to go would be government sponsored religion. Well at least there tax breaks and other stuff would. I wouldn't make them close churches or anything. Just no more built in loopholes for them.

9.)depends on which one. some seem like real dicks. others less so. Who wouldnt want to know zeus i mean really?

10.)Muslim.. today they tend to kill innocents more then the rest. but that could easily be an illusion based on media coverage.

  • Sorry 4 might not have answered your questions woops.

5.) Abiogenesis theory is the best guess so far based on evidence. Until a more plausible explanation comes about that makes the most sense.

6.)Chemical interactions within the brain. Take a neuro course or a psych course its fascinating. These evolved along with us as they held a selective advantage compared to not having them.

7.) Society tends to but it depends on situation and size of the society. AKA variable

  • 1.) no evidence for god

2.) Theists try to take down science to make themselves feel good about there stories and myths. Take away science = bye bye cushy modern lifestyle. PLus pushing there beliefs on others.

3.)Nope. If evidence of a god (and i mean real evidence not the crap spewed now) i would convert.

4.)Science has no absolutes and anything can be change in light of new evidence. Or never be answered due to no evidence (example we will enver know every species of animals that existed)

  • Number 12: Why did God shape only bananas to fit in our grip?

  • Where does feeling of love and guilt come from?

Where did evil and hate come from? If it came from Satan then God must have created evil and hate or at least have instilled these emotions in Satan with His bullying and megalomania. If God created everything 'perfect' why did it all go tits up? Satan again? As the old saying goes, only a bad workman blames his tools.

  • sort that webcam out!

  • cant be bothered

  • 1. Like everybody else I was born an atheist. Never found any convincing evidence to change me.

    2. I don't fight for atheism. I express my opinion.

3.Yes. Everybody has a limited world view except maybe somebody who has traveled extensively. The people in the wrote the bible had a limited world view. That is why the bible only known by a small part of the world. Until people traveled to other lands and shoved it down the throats of the natives. Odd for a god inspired book.

  • 8. If I was god I would tell people not to worship me but to respect each other and worship your family. I would get rid of religions. Humans create right and wrong(evil). What is evil to one isn't evil to another. Germans loved hitler. American thought he was evil. Hard to remove evil without removing humans.

  • 7. Why do theist keep asking the right/wrong question? Are you people really so self centered that you can't except that right/wrong is learned through reactions with people not through some unproven god entity. Yes most of the time majority rules that is why gays can't marry and most religions what to keep majority rule. Most atheist don't need to tell others how to live.

  • 9. That depends, is he the god of the OT or NT? Probably. Be interesting to pick the creators mind.

    10. If the religion is backed up by a god who existed than you couldn't get rid of it. Unless the god didn't want to be worshipped. I haven't met a god yet who didn't demand that he be worshipped. Get of Judaism and than christianity and islam wouldn't exist. Some say that abrahamic religions really started in egypt.

    11. Sun worship. We depend on it for life and it is easy to prove to exist.

  • 1. Logic.

    2. Not in the end, but in the time before that: people will have wasted lots of time, energy and money.

    3. Yes. Nobody has a full world view.

    4. No.

    5. It's not as much a matter of belief as it is of educated guessing: probably through abiogenesis and molecular evolution.

    6. The brain, because of chemical reactions, because of evolution, rationality and moral education.

    7. Logic. In theory no, but in practice most oftenly yes.

    8. I would change human nature, and remove harm completely.

  • 9. Yes. It would be a mystery to me why he would answer differently on question 8.

    10. Judaism. Without Judaism, no Christianity or Islam. Without those, no religion for 60% of all religious people, and the removal of the most aggressive ones.

    11. Buddhism, the most atheistic of all religions.

  • love guilt. It is common sence from stone age we sometimes had things that are better than others so we feel better ourselves in that matter. so is it good to take advantage? NO we are here on earth to live only with each other When someone kills we want justice because he has lost the meaning of life.

Religion does no have perfect rules because it keeps us away from the truth... I am sorry if you where with them for birth. It is good for you and me to comment don`t make nonsense.

  • Are you a Cylon.....it sure sounds like it.

  • You just like me and everyone else was born an Atheist, we did not choose to become one! Everyone including Theists are born Atheist, and only become otherwise IF converted to one religion or another by parents, or the predominant religion in that culture. It is the Theist who is impure, or unoriginal in that regard, whereas the Atheist is Unadulterated by Religion! your sound is very bad, so it is difficult to properly hear the questions.

  • lol when did you decide to be christen and why?

  • Quote from gqathlete:

"Yes I believe in intelligent design! I believe that God made everthing!"

So thats means God created the Polio virus, and when medical sceintists killed off the disease they were destroying one of God's creations were they not?

So should use be aginst ALL cures for diseases, correct?

Also in order for you to Believe the creation story of the Bible the WHOLE fossil record must be wrong or ignored.

  • Just to give you one ... I was born an atheist. religion is taught, so I did not become one. I was already one.

you were born an atheist too so I should ask you why you became a theist(Christian I'm guessing.)?

PS. You ask too many questions there is only so much space too type.(not being mean)

  • 1. I never actually decided on atheism. I was never brought up to beleive anything as arbitrary as God. Then, in my middle teens, I started questioning pretty much everything, and my atheism withstood my questioning.

    2. It matters because atheism leads to rationality and skepticism, which improve living conditions in this life. Theism just hopes things will be better once you die instead of doing something about it.

    3. I knew less yesterday, I'll know more tomorrow.

  • 3. (cont'd) But the only way I'll learn anything is by not just picking up an old book and saying this is all there is to the truth.

    4. No. I'd say they are rational to accept because they help maintain society, but that doesn't mean they suddenly exist just because it'd be practical if they did.

    5. Chemistry. Simple organic molecules combine into more complex organic molecules and so on.

    6. Chemistry, this time in the brain.

  • 6. (cont'd) A person who can feel emotions is more likely to survive in society than a sociopath, so feeling love is an evolutionary advantage.

    7. The majority decides what is right&wrong because it can enforce it. However, ultimately people decide for themselves. To my knowledge, the best moral rule devised so far is the Golden one.

    8. If I was God, I would be omnipotent, and I could create a perfect world without evil or sin but that still had free will and which everyone would like...

  • 8. (cont'd) ...even if they liked contradictory things. Omnipotence is fun like that, you can do things infinitely better.

    9. I would have a desire to know what kind of person he was. I would want to know whether or not we're in the thrall of an omnipotent sociopath. I would suspect he's a bad person, but I'd be interested in his justifications for the things he's done.

    10. Scientology. Getting rid of Christianity and Islam would be nice, sure, but Scientology needs to go.

  • 11. Of all the religions I know, I find Buddhism most sympathetic. because it relies on trying to save people from suffering without invoking gods of dubious help.

Of course, some days I wish I was Christian simply so that I would be a member of the majority, the religion most people simply assume you are when they meet you on the street.

  • "To my knowledge, the best moral rule devised so far is the Golden one"

"Do on to others as you would have them do on to you" is a very dangerous rule in the hands of a theist.

Would a Christain not want to be saved from hell, if so they must "save" others from hell as well, even if they have to force it.

    This caused many wars.

    A better rule is:

Do on to others as THEY would like to be treated.

  • #1.Because there is absolutely no evidence that any god exsists.Creation is not proof of any god and you as a human being isnt proof either.

#2.Okay this was certainly a stupid question because atheists arent fighting anything. We just have no belief in any god thats all.And yes we live for the now,it matters that while we are here to make the best of it.

  • #3.We have a "limited"worldview? How unabashedly profound! In fact we have a much better view of the world and the universe!Since we are always looking and reseacrhing the world before us we are more apt to find out things about our world more so than any theist who just accepts the answers religion gives them.

  • #4.Everything that we see, touch, sense, smell and feel are proven not by science but by mankind.Science reinforces and details the things that we dont understand without proper studying.

#5.Learn about evolution,it will tell you pretty much everything.

#6.Where do emotions come from?Another horrific question. They come from your medualla oblogata.

  • #7.Try hurting yourself, does it feel right to you? Then you wouldnt want to do it to others.

#8.There would be no concept of evil if i was god itself. And i wouldnt change a thing with the world. Its not its fault mankind will screw it up,according to your god we were fucked since our birth so this is actually its fault, you wouldnt buy damaged goods from a realator would you?

  • #9.If the abrahamic god exsisted i wouldnt care to spit in its direction.Just read Leviticus and see just a fraction of what a madman would look like.

#10.One religion, well actually since im in america it would be christianity. If i was abroad islam. But ALL religions must go.

  • #11.I would neevr pick any of the 3 major religion out there today. They all preach division of mankind, they condone slavery and genocide of different people.Religion has set this world back farther than where we are today, just imagine where we would be without it and how far more advanced as a society! One day that will come true!

  • This is what happens when you skip school to go to church. "How do you belive light came about?" What kind of an idiotic question is that. Get yourself informed before trying to act smart.

  • "All the Communists were atheists and the French Revolution was an atheist movement."

Disregarding other factors in these... They did NOT do it in the name of atheism. This is different different when you get to religion. They are going on crusades and holy wars IN THE NAME OF THEIR RELIGION. "For God almighty!" "For Allah"

Atheism isn't the cause of their behavior. But in the case of religion... RELIGION IS THE CAUSE OF THOSE MURDERS/WARS/DISCRIMINATION.

  • Blake97201-Sure they did not say in the name of atheism but what does atheism stand for?

The main point is the leaders of the largest mass murders of all time all shared a common belief that there is no God.

What do you suppose is the cause for their behavior?.

If you want to know more watch (grammastola)"is religion the greatest mass murder of all time?" it is a great video and vary intellectual.

  • I think it would be better to discuss only one thing at a time with aTheists, because they like to run Christians down rabbit trails.

  • 1. We are all born atheists. Some of us are unlucky enough to be brainwashed into theism.

    2. Because theism is a dangerous parasite on the minds of the human species. Your beliefs inform your actions.

    3. Define your terms.

    4. No. The only basis for holding a belief is based on evidence.

    5. In the organic compound soup of the primordial earth, a replicating, self-catalyzing RNA strand was formed. While an improbable event, it only needed to happen once.

    6. Emotions serve a crucial role.

    Cont...

  • They were co-evolved with our social structures; one cannot exist without the other.

    7. We pass laws as a society that are supposed to reflect the overwhelming majority view on fundamental matters, however on more subtle issues it's up to each individual to make up their own mind.

8a. I would give human beings the full understanding of why I couldn't possibly exist.

8b. I'd improve on the design of evolution, giving my creation bodies that were designed from the ground up, rather than

    Cont...

  • over the course of millions of years of gradual refinement.

    9. Absolutely. If leprechauns and unicorns existed I'd have a desire to see them, too.

    10. Christianity. Because it affects me personally.

  • hey Athlete douche i got a question for you.

How do YOU believe life came about?? Did "GOD" create life? According to you idiot christians, God created everything. Did God create the pizza im about to put in my oven? No, a company called Tombstone did.

  • Do you believe that pizza had a maker??? You said yes! You answered your own question!

  • I'm asking you.

  • I don't believe that tombstone made your pizza!

At one point there wasn't a pizza then a bang happened, Lots of time and random processes and chance. All the ingredients mixed themselves together and with the right temperature it cooked then magically appeared on your plate ready to eat!

  • Yes I believe in intelligent design! I believe that God made everthing!

  • lmao...talk about narrow minded

  • 1. Because I couldn't lie to myself anymore.

    2. I don't really 'fight' I just try to inform. As far as I see it, you're wrong for demonstrable reasons. You say I'm wrong for subjective reasons.

    3. No?

    4. No.

    5. As far as I can tell abiogenesis is plausible and testable. I'm not married to it, but it seems to explain the most with the most simplicity.

    6. Chemical responses that were favored in natural selection for its benefit to social animals like ourselves. Makes it no less important.

  • 7. I think your question is actually "who decides what is ultimately punishable" since each of us decides what's right and wrong. Though each of us has an innate sense of what is right and wrong, not all of us choose to follow or ethical compass.

    8. If I were 'god' I'd let it be known. I would live among the people and try to enact change as a person. I'd never force thoughts upon people. Sounds like someone, I know.

    9. define 'know'

  • Agnosticism is the only rational position.

Reason is the only way to morality.

Most atheists I've met are simply angry at Jews, Christians and Muslims.

    Be true to yourself.

I wish you peace, liberty and prosperity :)

  • 1. I didn't decide on atheism. I just have a brain. 2. I fight for atheism because atheists are still in many countries viewed as 'evil', discriminated or socially rejected for not believing in a magical man in the sky. 3. Care to elaborate? 4. No. 5. I don't know, working on it :) 6. Our brain. Simple as can be. 7. We do. Our personal moral code and the country's laws, obviously. 8. Too long/obvious to bother with 9. ..what? 10. Christian or muslim for the violence. 11. Satanism.
  • ew... simple questions and horrible video+audio quality. it amazes me people even need to ask these questions.

  • Reason why religion is a joke: Everything that exists must be made out of matter or energy, religion is neither therefore it does not exist, and only exists as brainwaves.

  • Limited perspective, thats asuming that everything that exist must be made of matter and energy. If thats the case then energy and matter also only exist as brainwaves. And brainwaves would therefor be Energy and matter as well.

  • but it is simulated and controlled energy that humans and animals can dictate not, free flowing energy like in star masses or in power plants.

  • to answer your ? in a simple way and then you can use your logic to answer all your ?. it is

"cause and effect" so as an atheist i use this simple and basic nature of all things to guide my beliefs. and i also use logic.

although others have thought of it "cause and effect" was intensively discussed in India hundreds of years before Christ.

you can do some research on it and apply it to your beliefs. but the answer should be logical or of common sense may be even scientific.

  • 1.. to answer most of your ? in a simple way

    "cause and effect"

whatever we atheist believe in is governed by logic if the cause have a logical effect we put our trust and belief in it.

"cause and effect" was talked about in India among hindus long time ago and Gautama Buddha deeply explained it further still.

but you have to understand one thing Hinduism is not atheistic but it is still much more philosophical and scientific then the abrahamic religions.

  • 1. Cause a godless universe seems alot more logical then one with a god in it to me

    2. Yes, because people's beliefs does not allow me to do certain things like hold office in several states

    3. Not really, Any statement of faith is blasphemy and anyone who thinks your a blasphemer will think you have a limited world view

    4. There are things that we simply don't know, if it can't be proven we could easily dismiss it without proof calling it superstition

  • 5. Miller and Urey's experiments, in repeats uracil and cytocine was yielded, 2 nitrogenous bases found in RNA

    6. Chemical Reactions

    7. People have that ability

    8. I would change everything in the bible, it'd be destroyed for a new text with far less violence, I'd actually intervene stopping hunger and violence

    9. Yes

    10. It'd be a pick between scientology and christianity. Scientology, I don't like that much. Christians, to much blood on it's hand and hinders science

  • 11. Is deism count, if yes I'd pick Deism. If no I'd pick buddhism. If Buddhism doesn't count I'd pick Jedi

  • Christians, to much blood on it's hand and hinders science!

    What about Atheism?

  • what blood do we have on our hands? last i checked we were murdered for not believing in god up until very recently.

    Hitler = Catholic

    Witch Burnings = Christian

    Crusades = Christian and Muslim

    Osama Bin Laden = Muslim

Last i checked no major war has been led by an atheist, nor have any atheists been leaders or participants in terrorist plots.

Christians stop stem cell. Galileo had to retract his scientific theories so that he would not be executed. Dark Ages.

    Yeah, Atheists are evil.

  • All the Communists were atheists and the French Revolution was an atheist movement.

  • ! A cause doesn't have a Cause maker? You give it Godlike ability but call it natural!

  • 7. U decide whats right and wrong. If u cant then its ur problem not some god's.

    8. u might condider evil to be atheism, but i consider it car bombing killing innocent people because of religion. i dont kno y god cant but i wud 1st solve violence, then poverty, and hunger and disease. I wud have solved death, and then wud fix the environments of underprivelidged people to prevent "sins", and then would go to happiness and improving the quality of life.

  • 6. Similar to the question "how do u know whats right and wrong?" u dont need written directions for life. R U saying that if u never went to church or touched a bible u wudnt know what was right and wrong? It used believed that it came from the heart, which is where the love heart comes from, but we know today it comes from a connection of neurons and nerves in your brain. Unfortunately, i dont yet have a profession in science with which i could explain it to you in detail.

  • There has been over a thousand of years of thought into ethics. Are you saying that we should not only do away with this body of thought because it was theistic but not replace it with anything but instinct?

  • 4. There are some, most of which have practically no importance. Religion (where many biblical accepted truths have been disproven by science) you might say, is of some importance : ) It must first be viewed with critical thinking, which is something that most theists lack.

    5. Im too lazy- asteroids crash. create dust, over time unified itself and became a planet, the first life forms in the form of underwater plants appear, eventually become tiny underwater fish and u, hopefully, know the rest.

  • 1. I dont believe in magic

    2. Theists attack atheists with ridiculous logic- and did you know religion is the #1 leading cause of death ever? Also, to promote openminedness and critical thinking in life and in other issues such as politics.

3.Fuck No. Athiests are the most educated and open minded people. Most christians dont know about any of the world outside the boundaries of their churches.

  • 4. I must re-answer... I cannot agree that something is real without having any evidence. While lacking evidence, it would be quite irrational to say that something is real rather than say it is reasonable to consider.

  • Good answers, man. Have a cookie. An ATHEIST cookie ;)

  • 10. I would get rid of the religion that doesn't offer any proof, but instead strategizes with fear and imaginary love.

    11. I would choose the religion that teaches there will be no consequences for not accepting things without evidence. I would choose the religion that doesn't ask you to devote yourself to something unseen and unproven, but instead motivates you to help others because we are all mortals.

  • 3. Yes.

    4. Yes. Example: There is no Santa Claus.

    5. I wasn't there so I cannot know.

    6. I don't know. Maybe they just exists the same as a supposed God just happens to exist.

    7. Can you be a little more specific?

    8. If I could be God I would make sure no one ever became dissatisfied.

    9. It depends. I would definitely want to know God if I knew that he really was doing the best he could to do, and there is no eternal suffering.

  • 1. I became an atheist when I realized that we do not need a creator. If the universe requires a creator because it is complex, why isn't a creator required for a god who is also complex? Why would an intelligent god give us wisdom teeth, tailbones, or body hair? Why would a creator give men nipples?

    2. It matters because the eye of religion is blind to the perception of reality. Faith means to believe something when there is no way of knowing. Why does religion matters in the end?

  • 7: No one and everyone. What is moraly acceptable (right) to you might not be that to another (wrong). There is no universal "good" or "bad", only interpretations of an action.

I didn't reply to the rest of the questions, seeing as I found them irrelevant.

  • 1, I realized I had no good reason to believe the Christianity I was raised with.

2, I want to spread the truth and encourage critical thinking. I believe Atheism and Agnosticism are best for critical thinking. Also I don't want religion stopping science.

    Ill post the rest later.

  • I got lazy so I will skip to 11, I would remove new age because I think it is the most damaging to critical thinking and common sense. Also it pisses off scientists and religious people by twisting the beliefs of Christianity, Islam, eastern spirituality, native American beliefs, and quantum physics.

  • Sorry about my other post I meant 10 not 11.

  • 11. Any nature-like religion. I think worshipping nature makes much more sense than some all mighty God. Nature is real, nature gives us all we need, we should to be thankful for that, which is why that would be my first choice. Nature is real, its common sense that it gives us what we need. Ive never seen God.

sorry i had to post so many comments but youtube's limited to 500 chars :P

  • Thank you very much for your comments!!

  • 9. If I would see evidence, which I would consider evidence anyway, I would like to know him, and I would like to admit that i was wrong, like I said before. Im willing to follow the rules, IF THERE IS EVIDENCE.

    10. Would not get rid of a religion, but I would get rid of people trying to convert others all the time.

  • 7. That depends on everyones opinion. One thinks its wrong, while osmeone else thinks is right. Theres no way to tell whats wrong or right, though i think common sense can help us to determine that.

    8. I dont know. Never thought about it, since I dont feel the need to be like a God.

  • So, if someone thought it was O.K. to rape your child. . . that would be fine.

  • what are you talking about?

I said 'Common sense can help us to determine that'

    COMMON SENSE

  • 4. Not yet. Will be eventually

    5. Couldnt hear what you were saying

    6. From the brain. Its our ability to think on a higher level than animals, which causes our emotions. Which is why animals dont have emotions like us.

  • 1. Because ive seen no proof of a God. I dont believe in something which isnt proven.

    2. I dont. We just defend ourselves from religious people treating us like little ignorent kids.

    3. No. Im open to everything, if anyone is capable of converting me to what ever, im willing to admit that i was wrong in everything. A lot of atheists do, which is why I think its not US with limited world views, but religious people.

  • Do you believe in evolution?

  • I dont have an opinion about that. I havent researched it enough to decide what i believe.
