the one where he lifts his leg on his stomache is the most down and out you can be to make a save. like that save leaves charley horses behind your leg. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST SAVE EVER! hands down.
Im a bad goalie when I try to play regular. When I play like Hasek, I do well. I do not take my eye off the ball and I do whatever to stop it, and thats what matters
@vojtap006 ya cause you know players like Crosby, Yzerman, Sakic, Messier, Lemieux, Roy, Brodeur, Sawchuck, Howe, Orr, and Gretzky all come from the Czech Republic.... Oh wait thats right they come from Canada, where the best players come from. The Czech Republic is a good hockey nation, and Jagr and Hasek were/are great players. they just don't stack up against the best in the world
@NBON113 You know what, I disagree...I'm a canadian and I think Hasek for sure needs to be mentioned in the same regard as our canadian players (the ones you mention). He's a hall of fame goalie no question.
@NBON113 damn dude i didn't realize that the country a player was from determined how good they were... yeah you're a fucking moron and fyi Hasek is definitely better than Brodeur.
@NBON113 hasek doesn't stack up? From 1993-2001 he won 6 vezina trophies! In 1998 he won his 2nd consecutive hart trophy becoming the first goaltender to win in multiple times let alone back-to-back! After he won the gold medal gretzky called him "the best player in teh game". He was the 1st euro goalie to win a cup and set a record for shutouts in a postseason yr. Can u imagine if he didn't play for the shitty sabres for so long? Which is also a testament to how dominant he was.
Hasek and Roy were the best of that era by far, probably the two best goalies ever. Roy was better when it counted, he had the ultimate will to win, no matter the team in front of him, Roy was feared in the playoffs every season after his rookie Cup until he retired. Hasek had a different kind of career but is in a class by himself. Hasek was a genius with the best goalie instincts of all time..
As a Sabres fan who watched Hasek for the better part of a decade, I know people who criticized his positioning his entire career. Sure, he turned what would've been simple saves with proper positioning into incredible ones, but I believe he always knew what he was doing. Hasek had a mystique about him around the league because he robbed you on can't miss chances over and over again. He knew how to not only get into players' heads, but break their spirit at the same time.
The best goalie I've ever seen hands down.can you imagine if he was with Detroit his whole career what goals he would have accomplished?Patrick Roy was great, but he was fortunate to be on winning teams loaded with talent pretty much his whole career.Hasek was 90% the reason on why the Sabres got to the finals that one year.
@WEINBAUER dude you realize that it was all roy when he earned his shit he spearheaded every playoff run and actually the 93 candiens were the 6th playoff seed and won the cup i think a better comparrison would be brodoeur playing with that killer devils defense in the early 2000's
The crazy thing is that Hasek was drafted into the NHL in 1983, but spent all of the 80s playing in Europe. He didn't make an NHL appearance until 1990, and even then spent two years as a backup in Chicago. He was traded to Buffalo, spent one more year as a backup, and DIDN'T BECOME A FULL TIME STARTER UNTIL ALMOST 30 YEARS OLD! He dominated the NHL in his late 20s and 30s. Imagine if he played in the NHL in his prime! And was on a better team than Buffalo!
when you make getting "lucky" a habit its no longer luck. he was just down right good. he is the BEST GOALIE EVER. put him in place of patrick roy or martin brodeur and hasek would of won 7 cups

@13lackLight The NHL had a rule where a player couldn't be in the crease. Conveniently, Brett Hull's skate was in the crease when he scored the game winning goal, yet there was no call on the play.
@cheatman99 The refs didn't call it, so the goal stood, even though his skate was clearly in the crease from the video. Unfortunately for Hasek, that was the game winning goal, so bad reffing pretty much cost him the cup. Luckily for him, he won the Cup in Detroit :D

i hate when people say his saves are lucky. no. no one gets that lucky all the time, hasek just knew what he was doing and how he was going to do it every time.
@saynototrolling To be fair his rebound control is suspect at best. But he's the only goalie I have ever seen that could give up seemingly dangerous rebounds and stop all of them.
Everyone always asks whose the best goalie Brodeur or Roy, well I believe Hasek deserves to be in that discussion his play in Buffalo was unreal, Gretzky himself in 98 Hasek had proved to be the best player in the world today, and that was in the middle of Roy's prime
With a loose puck and traffic in front of the net, there's no other goalie I'd rather have. They nailed it in the video - he never lost sight of the puck, and that's why he was always able to get those last-millisecond saves in.
lol number 1 should've been a montage of all the times he sprawled around and got scored on, looking like a complete fool.
