  • Leifur of course had a Greenlandic passport. Because his father was a king there and Greenland is part of the North America. So they were definitely Americans.

  • My name is last name Leifur and my dads side of the family is related to leif Eiriksson. SO DONT FUCK WITH US LEIFURS YOU FUCKING PEICES OF SHIT FOR COMMERCIALS

  • You Kid Right? Every Icelander is related to Leif Eiriksson, It is an Island after all

  • @Moopies well, Im not related to Leifur :P

  • @xxapplesaucexx lol at you

  • hvað er að THULE BJÓR gaman

  • BANKRUPT!

  • Leifur was born in Iceland a hundred years after Norwegians first settled there. The Althing, the Icelandic parliament of the time was founded in 930, 40 years before he was born. When written about, the settlers of that time were called Icelanders and Norwegians were called Norwegians. The Icelanders' national "ego" was established very early.

  • Vikingvinter... You just got a history lesson :D

  • Iceland is cool and all, but it's not like the people who "colonized" America went on a Native American killing spree, besides there are many Indians alive today.

  • I beg to differ, they didnt start it straight away, but Eventually they decided since the natives didnt like their kinda living (killing all the animals for their pelts and leaving the meat, destroying the land and what not) they were gonna have to eradicate them, Then theres the whole "you need to believe in Our God" thing, where they tried to eradicate the culture. Colonizers arent very good at being nice.

  • ... actually, america was full of people and didn't need to be discovered, but they were happy to host leifur and his friends for a holiday ... but on their second trip they all got drunk and in typical viking fashion started fighting and killed most of themselves ... too much brinnavin. But I agree that Scandanavia should take over America, then there'd be better furniture, cheaper healthcare, and more beautiful women ... but what to do with all the fat americans???

  • ... put them on a diet!

  • They'd whine too much.

  • LOL

They weren't your typical Vikings!!! they were more explore and take slaves rather then conquer and kill all... Well they liked Iceland! haha What happened was they traded the Natives some cow milk for animal pelts, the milk made the natives sick because they were lactose intolerant and they thought that they were trying to poison them so they chased them away from the america and the icelanders didnt go back, I remember it well LoL

  • @AndyPeterson1988 lol... Chrissy Columbus was Italian just so you know, you ignorant, drunk-sounding, most prob. inbred idiot... hehehe. America doesn't need more colonizers, all that stuff came and went and we don't need any more of that. So keep your Scandinavian ass over in Scandinavia. Cheers!

  • Nangor. That is not really true. I don't want to start a fight or anything. But Leifur Eiríksson was born and brought up in Iceland which makes him one of the first Icelanders.

His father was Norwegian anyway, so you can take some of the pride and honour for that.

  • good enough for me :)

  • no he was norwegian as they dicovered iceland and after that greenland and then america... looking forward to moving to iceland and speak like a true viking

  • There is some literary evidence that Irish monks discovered Iceland. (Also not trying to start a fight, just putting that out there).

  • @SMHRS8 yeah, they died out or were killed before or when the Norwegian settlers arrived though.

they must have thought they were wizards or some shit

  • ICELANDER! hahahaha since he left norge and didnt move back hehe

  • So why aren't the Indians still alive today? ROFL.

  • This is actually true, Leifur Eiríksson was the first man to discover America. He lived there for a few years but his Icelandic tribe died in America. He called America "Vineland" or "Vínland" in Icelandic. His father, Eiríkur Rauði (Erik the red) discovered Greenland

  • LOL!
