We are now at Cubase 6, which is AMAZING, but when I think of Cubase SX3 I still see it as an incredible and amazingly powerful DAW! I mean you could use SX3 today and make great music we ease and not feel like you're obsolete...! Isn't that great?
man what is it with people talkin shit about FL, as far as creative workflow and even mastering It does the job. Ive used many DAW's and FL is where I spend most my time. It just works.
Cubase SX3 may be old but it works so well on certain classes of computer that it's become a trusted partner. It's never crashed a project of mine. Always starts, always works. Good Stuff.
Mininova has really good downloads for it, but make sure you have XP, cause it's a royal pain to try to make it work on Vista, and I only think a handful of people have been able to do so.
Wow, so much talk on programs I had never heard about...
I use Audacity, and before that I used "Sound Sculptor II" (for Mac... Classic... lol!)
Could anyone tell me what's so special about Cubase, Pro-tools, etc? I mean, REALLY!... I don't know whether I'm missing something useful or if they're just full of weird features I'd never use... I just record guitars, no synths... so...
Every DAW can basically get the same results, the diffrence is layout. You can also record midi and use VSTi's. You cant do that in audacity right?
If you're used to a specific software like in your case Audacity, its better to stick with what you like the most. It would be unwise to getting used to a new software and letting it slow down your workflow.
I use Cubase, and have used it since the days of atari :)
I disagree. I think learning any software can only expand your horizons. Making you not only more versatile but also stripping away old limitations. All DAWs do not get the same results. Extra features, expanded options etc. will change the outcome of your project. The right DAW can teach, through trial and error, the correct approaches to audio recording which would most definitely change everything for you. It may slow down your workflow, but that should never stand between you and growth.
well, I think.. If you wanna make the right sound for your record.. Pro-tools is the greatest choice, Better mix, better comiling (it just rendering music so well) very comortable, great use of your sound card, cpu etc it just make you sound better.esier to mix, to record, mastering.. go ahead to my page listen to "Brutal machine" this is a Cubase project that I made, after that listen to one of my Pink floyd covers these are made via Pro-tools (same gear, same knowladge at this time)
sounds great! at some point i think i'll make the switch, first i have to see if my computer and sound card will work with it...
you have a pretty extensive collection of recordings! nice work!!! it was rather methodical of you to go through the pink floyd songs and get each part right!
I won't lie to you, Pro-tools needs a little bit of more high quality hardware. but again as you can hear in my project, I get much better results with Pro-tools in the same gear I use in Cubase..
100% agree, I think Cubase sx3 is much better then 4!
I think that:
*Cubase sx3 - The greatest software to record and program MIDI with VST
*Cubase 4 - is not good at all (lol)
*Pro Tools M-powered(any version)- the greatest anyway.. especialy with recording and mixing audio but Midi it's still good as well.. you should try (if you have a m-audio sound card) it's just compiling music so good.. ! and it's friendly to work with
i've been curious about Pro-tools but i have an Apogee sound card. it's a high end card, they generally make really expensive stuff i can't afford... i have their smallest device hahaha.
i've used cubase for a long time and so never wanna convert. what's the advantages you've found??
years of experience in Cubase Sx3 made me a "Cubase expert" and I thought to my self.
"What? is it worth to dump all of my knowladge in cubase just because I want to convert to Pro-tools?" and I tried Pro-tools, I discover that it doesn't "ruin" any of your knowladge, expirience.. and the advantages I found..
wow, who has this? sumbody hook me up,

I learned on ProTools, use Cubase now, and will be going back to ProTools once I get my Mac/new audio interface. XD

i use it too. Cubase 4 apparently has issues? i was gonna upgrade but read around and decided to stick with my updated 3.1.1 (i think)
i love it. runs flawlessly with Reason, Native instruments Synths, and Guitar Rig 3!!!!
