Most of the divorced families I know split the custody evenly. The families where the mother got custody, the courts denied the father custody. And the families where the father got custody, it was because the mother ran off. It's probably be a lot different everywhere else, but that's my experience with it.
try saying that to one of my friends who thinks that the children should automatically go to the mother just because they came from her
