  • @jeepstir69 and @TikondaRoga...I'm the guy that owned the Formula in the vid, its gone now but thought I would clear some things up for you 2. Both T/As and Formulas had a few different gearing options and according to the build codes on the car mine had 2.73 gears, not great for getting out the hole but as you can see I did just fine. Also, Formulas were ment to be "stripped" down T/As to cut back weight. Most had manual locks, windows, and solid roofs. Mine had power everything and t-tops.

    You are an idiot. The same gearing options were available for T/A's and Formula's! Formula's are actually much harder to find and much more collectable. "just a formula"...same powerplant, same gear options = do some research. For every 1 Formula out there, 10 Trans Ams were made.

  • @TiKondaRoga wS6* because of the ram air intake. Trans Ams just have the body kit, so formulas are generally faster than trans ams by a hair. The WS6 is a tad faster though.

    is it some sort of position sensor ? or velocity measurement?

  • The electronics control the choke, fuel metering cuz it has a mixture control solenoid that controls the air/fuel ratio in the carburetor, a throttle position sensor which tells the car's computer the position of the throttle, etc...

  • due to the fact that the shelby is maybe 800 LBS heavier and has that SLA rear end and is only puttin out about 8 lbs of boost, and the fact that it was a stick i'd say it done a damn good job if they were to keep goin that shelby wouldve lapped that car

  • Especially when I win a race against a car with a power adder. I've beaten some of them all. Supercharged, turbo, nitrous, you name it. Im not really knockin it but I do think it was kinda cheezy by Ford to force power with the SC. They really didnt have too now that they are using the 5.4 setup again. But hey, it is a pretty good car for stock. I cant wait to race one of these. I pull hard on the 03 models so I cant wait till I can find one in the area willing to run.

  • Yeah I know this to be fact as well. Too many of them out there to deny it. Im a huge T/A fan and this race really went as it should. Stock for stock the mustang SHOULD win. Now, given the price difference between both cars, you could absolutely build an LS1 or LT1 that would beat this car for less than the cost of the stang. You are given the freedom of choice. And btw dont hate on N/A tuning. My formula is totally N/A and it gives me more of an appreciation for my car and myself.

  • I know for a fact you can get 550+HP out of an N/A LS1 from experience. Ive seen N/A LS1 346 motors producing well over 600HP N/A so a 396 would push well over 700HP if you know what your doing. Its not easy but with the right head cam set up it is possible. I can see both sides of the arguement here and this conversation is like beating a dead horse...lol. Its all a matter of opinion. To each there own.

  • I have and know what your talking about. Both Ford and GM have put FI on a cars in the present and the past. But your always going to hit a wall without a power adder. Yes you can get 1000HP out of a N/A BB V8 but where are you going to get the other 1000 HP if you wanted it. The HP numbers your saying are respectable numbers for being N/A but at some point everyone wants more.

  • Yeah, you're right, you can't stop the next man from building his motor the way he wants, like I mentioned, I accept that, if a guy wants to put a power adder on his motor, hey, go for it, my thing is beating you naturally, but the majority of the time, you're not going to be able to activate your power adder when we meet in traffic or on the freeway, unless we're at the track, what can your motor do BEFORE activation of the power adder?, that's where the real competition lies, but I hear you

  • First off "Vay" I agree with you to a point. N/A motors are a thing of the past now. Why go through all the trouble and money when you can have a FI. Even Top Fuel uses FI. Now if I was building a 71 Chevelle then yes what your saying makes sense. You just have an old school mentality about motors which is ok but I think its also being narrow minded. Horsepower is horsepower no matter what way you use to get it.

  • You say Naturally Aspirated motors are a thing of the past?, you need to go pick up a copy of Chevy High Performance, Engine Masters, Muscle Car Review, GM High Tech Performance, or High Performance Pontiac, cuz Natural Aspiration hasn't gone anywhere man, I've got an article where people put 600hp on a Mopar 408, 620hp on a smallblock 396 LT1, 435hp on a GM 305, 441hp on a GM 350, & all these applications are naturally aspirated!

  • Oh the Shelby GT500 is the best car in the world it can smoke the ZR1. The Shelby runs 8 sec 1/4 mile times 100 percent stock and has a top speed of 300mph...lol. Also I had a 93 5.0 Mustang and it ran a 10 sec 1/4 mile times with just an air filter....lol. Geez some of the comments left on here are so damn funny. Half of these comments on here are left by 16 yr old kids anyways so they wouldnt know better. Facts are facts and anyone who has actually been to a drag strip knows these facts.

  • A 93 5.0 would need some serious engine work to run 12's. I had a 93 Cobra with a supercharger and it only ran mid 12's. You were lucky to see low 14's with a 93 5.0 and minor bolt ons. They are very light cars but I just dont believe it. Im not trying to get into a pissing contest im just stating what ive seen and done through experience. Ive owned an 89GT,93 Cobra, 02GT and an 03 Mach 1 in the past so ive I know what certain Mustangs are capable of. The 03 Mach 1 ran low to mid 13's stock.

  • I still disagree with you but you have a right to your own opinion. A stock Z06 will run in the 11's stock and there is no stock Shelby GT500 that will do that. A Zo6 is an all around better car IMO. All the stock GT500's ive seen in FL run in the high 12's stock with an average driver. All the tracks here are at or below sea level also. But I will say that the Shelby has a ton of potential and the motors are great.

  • A Z06 would walk a stock Shelby GT500easily in every way..High 12's is not hard to achieve with a minor bolt on LS1. Just because you work for an Auto Dealer dosnt mean you know everything about every type of car.

  • a stock zo6 will NOT beat a stock GT500, sorry. a stock gt500 runs 12.3 not high 12's as u state. im talking stock for stock, modding any car can easily even the playing field and yes a modded zo6 should beat a gt500. but i will say i do know more about cars than most, since i have gotten to drive hard alot of cars most do not. besides my 93 5.0 ran high 12's easily with minor boltons, 12's are easy.

  • I don't care how much 03-04 Cobras dyno, the LS2 is dynoing at 400hp at the wheels so what are you sayin'?, & the LS7 is dynoing WAYYY PAST that at the wheels with the 505 rating at the crank!, & yes, adding Forced Induction is a no brainer, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it adds more hp using the principle of forced air, or bolt it on, tune the boost, and go, & it's not hard to bore and stroke an engine block, like I said, the Vette's LS1 heads were worth 45hp by themselves!

  • You're not racing in the NHRA man, Forced Induction is the wave of the future & the present, but don't trash Natural Aspiration, cuz bragging about a force inducted motor is not impressive, anybody can bolt on a S/C, Nitrous, etc, & add power, like I said, that's a no brainer, go put that same 6-700hp on a N/A smallblock 396 LT1 that your forced inducted 4.6 or 5.4 is doing with the supercharger, then holla at me!, better yet, go pick up a copy of Chevy High Performance!, go read that book!

  • I've seen Cobras get smoked by stock Z06's and C5R, C5, & C6 Vettes, if the Vette's LS1 heads were 45hp by themselves, what do you think an intake manifold & cam will do?, & remember, the LS1 is old technology now!, so what do you think aftermarket heads for an LS2, LS3, LS7, or an LSX will do?, all that is BEFORE forced induction!, people can put heads, intake, & cam on old generation 3-4 350 blocks and get damn near AND OVER 400hp NATURALLY ASPIRATED!, so go ahead, U need the S/C for your ford

  • Chevy built the best 302!, in the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z28, it was rpo coded DZ302 and since you say a 427 isn't that great for outputting only 500hp, the fact that it's a SMALLBLOCK 427 outputting more hp than it's cubic inch engine size shows it surpasses the 1 hp per cubic inch performance rule, & like I said before, a supercharged motor is nothing spectacular, it's a no brainer a force inducted engine produces more hp, and yes, I've built Chevy 350's outputting 500hp+!, naturally aspirated!
