  • wow cant believe newmills is still running i rember it in brm nov 95

  • @birdy20034ever 1995?! Blimey, didn't think it had been around that long! LOL Cheers for commenting.

  • A polite reminder folks, that I do NOT own either layout in this video (they are the property of their respectable clubs), so please stop asking me questions on how the stuff is modelled. Please read the annotated disclaimer before making comments such as 'how did you model that', 'what paints did you use' etc. As much as I would love to own one of the layouts, it is sadly not to be.

Comments describing the activity on the layouts are still acceptable. Thanks for your co-operation.

  • Hi

Can I ask what you used to paint your concrete sleepers a lighter colour and what rust colour paint you used fir the track - thanks

  • @slendersausage I do not own either layout (read the annotations), so I wouldn't know.

  • fantastic vid.cheers for uploading :)

  • @camothegr8 Thanks!

  • absolutely stunning layout

  • @jamescooling Indeed.

  • again, fantastic! Superb layout!

  • Indeed. Not mine unfortunately, but there you are.

  • if i wanted a layout built like this how much would it cost?

  • Depends what size and what scale you want to model (not exactly good on price ranges unfortunately). These layout's don't belong to me by the way. Thanks for commenting!

  • 5 Stars!

  • i love layouts with OHLE 5*

  • Me too, but they must take a lot of patience and effort to model. Cheers!

  • lol i've heard that sommerfeldt are quite easy to install

  • That 90 under the wires looks amazing the sparking makes it all so genuine excellent catch Dave 5*87006.

  • It does indeed look realistic. Would've looked better if the forthcoming DVT from Hornby was running on that set as well... Cheers Tom!

  • what make is the layout? hornby etc??

  • 00 Scale. These are NOT my layouts (sorry for shouting, just emphasising) by the way. Thanks for the comment anyway.

  • i commented on this before but they layouts are soo realistic. Would love to see them in action one day. I saw the bee lane one in a model railway magazine last year and i just remembered it for some reason lol. They are both excellent model layouts. good capture

  • Indeed they are realistic looking layouts. I don't own either of them though. Thanks for commenting anyway!

  • 2 excellent layouts

  • They are indeed. Thanks.

  • nice OHLE very realistic

  • It is indeed. Thanks.

  • where can i get the measuring hst from? and also the 82dvt's in virgin? did you model them yourself

  • I don't know I'm afraid, and I didn't model them myself; these are not my layouts. Sorry, but thanks for the comment all the same.

  • was there a live band playing there?

  • I don't think there was a live band at the time; it's generally the background chatter of the crowds. Cheers.

  • I love modern image, and they don't come any better than this.

  • Cheers!

  • im pretty certain that 1st layout was in my 1st ever british raiwaly moddeling magazine (nov 1995). its 2009 now and am 22 and i still have no layout. cheers 4 putting these videos all the best!

  • Cheers for commenting!

  • great layouts

  • Indeed they are. Thanks Peggey!

  • wow both nice layouts! i saw bee lane in a model railway magazine in november. I think both of them look amazing with the overhead wires - it looks soo realistic. I'm in the process of designing a layout at the moment. Its not so big sadly as there isn't much space. Its gonna be a shelf layout but im a bit stuck from there!

  • Cheers. Good luck with your project.

  • hew do u know if the overhead wires work

  • Sorry, I've no idea how.

  • lol when i first read your name i thought it said themasturbater lol how wrong i was anyway its a fantastic layout i know its not yours but i envy you for being their to film it

  • Bit strong that, themasturbater?

    Anyway, thanks for commenting.

  • lol its ok that was a very fast reply congrats do u only put train vids on here if so i shall subscribe

  • Yes, all trains (real and model) catered for - feel free to subscribe if you wish.

  • i wish i had the money to make mine like this

  • Thanks!

  • That first pendolino...

    Model Pendolino Spotter !

  • Tee hee!

  • did you rubn the train with the pantograph with power from the overheads or is it just for show?

  • I think its just for show; I don't own these layouts. Thanks bronzeonion

  • The Pendolino at the start cannot pick up current from the overhead wires, so for safety reasons, I cannot imagine the wires being powered.

  • you have a very nice layout there its very moden and up to date with trains and the overhead wires with the sparks

    nice 1 hobbiefreak rating 10!

  • hobbiefreak, the sentiment is gladly appreciated. However, I do not own these layouts; they are the work of others. This was just something I recorded to my camera that's all. Thanks for commenting!

  • does tit have a website, need to extend the pendolinos now that theyre getting 13 cars. great layouts fav man

  • Cheers gentarion; not sure about that website though...

  • wow that virgen train was long

  • Aye, it is. Cheers!

  • Thanks very much EWS60008!

  • yes hornby did make a virgin driver van trailer but it isnt made eny more the only one they do is one anglia driver van trailer ive herd dapol are producing oo guage mk3 dvts in virgin trains one anglia ews and if they sell they are thinking of producing the dvts in cargo d br blue as seen been used on hull trains also unbranded virgin trains i hope this info helps you i got the info off the rail express website ps they will cost 25-30 quid and feature detailing parts ps mint video

  • Thanks for the information zippomc!

  • thx m8

  • and the virgin driving brake van where can i get 1 of them from?

  • I assume Hornby make them. Or that one was a kit, I'm not sure. Thanks!

  • so how do you make overhead wires for trains wat that the panto work on and still have power for the rail say for like freight trains?

  • I'm afraid I can't answer your query mate, as I am not the owner of both layouts. Thanks for viewing and commenting anyway.

  • I suppose the pantograph on the pendolino doesnt actually work thinkin of putin catenary on mine once I get mine up and runnin well

  • Best of luck colin1690white. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • I'm also a fan of the 50's to 90's stuff, but modern image modelling seem to get better, with new and detailed models from the likes of Hornby or Bachmann, coming out every time. These layouts prove the point, and were top notch. Cheers FlyingEnglishman!

  • Very Nice, The Pendolino looked good from a distant, I wonder if it was the Crappy Hornby thing or the Rubbish (Well the drive system was Crap)Dapol thing. DCC Sound HST was the beast on the layout, Very nice.

  • I'm not sure how good the Hornby pendolino looks myself. It would look good just now, being dragged by a Bachmann Virgin 57. Cheers gronkstergronk!

  • David, Excellent.Thanks for sharing.

  • No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • yer i got a 5-car pendolino

  • I wish both of them were mine too LOL! Oh well, it's amazing what you can recreate in minature, when you put the effort into it. Cheers fgw125!

  • ooo and 5 stars

  • Thanks!

  • and i thoght that 90 going to atacck that 390 but what the ? lol

  • That must have been a complex layout, with the storage sidings at the back, designed to accomodate so many trains on the same tracks.

  • love the 90

  • Cheers hst125matty!

  • brill layout love the pendolino and the HST

  • Cheers! I wish both layouts were mine LOL! Still, great fun to watch.
