Over the years I've heard the arguments and I believe them, but if the original skins weren't a racist movement, how come the real racists were able to come in and basically corrupt everything, to the point that the word 'skinhead' has now become so synonomous with right-wing creeps? because once the media got a grab on the whole "racist" faux-skin culture they ran story after story (you know how the media is) because it was scary and dramatic. Even though it was a very small percentage of skins mixed with people all over britain. So these middleclass british youth and young-adults coudlnt compete with the media, and eventually had no choice but to abandon the scene out of fear of persecution, being called a racist and what not...which is ironic.
