I'm pretty sure there are some dual lyrics going on here where the two guys are singing different words. In particular "Solivin' all our problems/profits." and "We are saved/slaves"
Its simple, for 50 years we've been telling stupid people that have no business doing anything aside from factory work to go to college. They went; now college is mindless knowledge vortex, that does nothing but babysit people for A LOT of money. It's pretty much what China, IL makes fun of. At the same time we took all our factory jobs and moved them to China, because their government doesnt care if they have a fair wage and working conditions. Theres no way to fix this, we are fucked.
the stimulus that war time production puts into such industries as steel and weapons producers provides a hell of a lot of jobs, hence why WWII got us out of the great depression, the New Deal wouldnt have worked as well if we didnt have that sudden boom in enlistment/ drafting to minimize the labor force and the new demand for food and weapons for those troops
@furfeyl Yeah, we'd be rolling in the dough, -if- America was still an Industrialized nation, since the second world war our economic structure has undergone a total paradigm shift and is entirely service based, hence why the two wars we're fighting now have put us in so much debt.
We aren't building the majority of what we're fighting with, and even the stuff we are is created from raw resources bought from other nations, setting us into an endless spiral of waste and debt.
@Hakudohshi ha amen, so true, plus warfare now adays isnt like it was back then, a lot more expensive for something that has a lot less presence on the ground, cant mass produce Abrams like we did Shermans
@uhhh54321 I did. I just don't think JFK or Washington could have called Churchill or Stalin for a hang at Yalta, or kicked the collective asses of the depression, dust bowl, and the axis powers.
@LucyStag Not all of them but FDR ultimately put us on the fiat currency system, taking away the gold standard value of our dollar and putting the printing and value assessment power in the hands of European bankers via the FED. The FED is about as Federal as Federal Express, meaning it has nothing to do with our government, and isn't working in our best interest. He later said it was one of his biggest regrets.
@ajackofdiamonds I know that. I was dissing the implication that FDR was awesome in the original comment. Especially, ya know, kicking the Depression's ass instead of making it last another eight years. And hanging with Stalin isn't exactly awesome either.
FDR, almost as shitty as Wilson. What a contest in screwing over people's freedoms.
The nation busted The bowl was dusted But he was ready to roll (Solvin' all our profits Layin' demonics) What are all you standin' there for? This is the U S of A We make the ships and the planes We sell our guns and grenades To anyone who will pay hay hay We are saved Our way of life can remain He called his friends for a hang He did it all for the USA ()=I'm not sure if that's what they say.
Not really, no. Contrary to what many believe World War 2 DIDN'T bring the U.S. economy out of the Depression.
The recovery began when money from Europe went to the America because of the worsening situation over there (Europe). America's massive military spending during the war did cut unemployment, but it wasn't enough to absorb all of the unemployed. After the war, the U.S. economy soared due to the rebuilding of the global trade regime and it's being the only unscathed industrial economy.
If you are insinuating that the war didn't at all bring us out of the Depression then you are sadly mistaken, it was the catalyst for economic recovery.
Historically speaking the recovery started in the early 1930s and was only interrupted by a brief recession in 1937.
That World War 2 brought the world out of the Great Depression is a myth. One based on rather bad logic, actually: I mean, the most devastating war in history supposedly brought America out of economic recession? Besides arms-producing industries all the other businesses sure wouldn't have prospered during a time of rationing. Neither would have households.
Recovery started in the early 30's? No, it didn't. The those were the worst years of all. A war of that size demands that a entire country go into overdrive, that's what brought us out of depression. Massive demand for food, weapons, engines, tanks, planes, fuel, raw materials, every damn thing. That creates jobs, A LOT of jobs. Rationing just goes to show that there is a high demand for those foods, which means we will produce as much as possible.
an who was paying for these supplies? mostly us right? how does that make us money? sounds like we went more into dept with the national bank which is something they love. the longer war goes one the more money we need to pay for labor and supplies, the more profits they make. the message of this clip is that war is a money maker for the elite and we are pawns.
war just puts us more into dept with the national banks. the depression was caused by the banks selling stocks worth 1000 dollars for 100 dollars then they called in the tickets for the stocks knowing for each 100 dollar stock 900 dollars were owed so investers went bust, this caused a panic that insighted people to draw all their money out of their local banks in mass which caused those banks to demand money they lent and so forth, all in all the depression was a big scam.
I laughed at "he's ready to roll." And then I felt bad.

It's to bad FDR went and died. He probably would have made the US economy stable to last through the shit presidents that came after.
