Fantasmic's Ursula Barge

I remember when I first saw the Ursula barge, I was maybe about 7 years old. And I remember thinking " Crap she's huge! Almost scary huge!!"

It's because "she" kept having problems and they were going to update her with the barges in 2007, but the barges went way over budget so they stopped using it.

i used to work at disney orlando. the reason they no longer have ursula is because one of the legs was torn and all of the air flew out. they also took it out because it took to much time in the show and they felt they needed more villans.

Ursula deflated on herself sometime in 1994, I believe. She was having several other technical problems with her limbs as well, and when the other barges or boats had to make way for her it did become far too time consuming. Ultimately Disney decided it was best to remove her to keep the show flowing better. I miss this float a damn lot as well, and wish she was still operational.

i saw fantasmic at dl on june 16 2009 and there were these giant floatsam and jetsam there was no dragon. :( i asked a castmember in a fantasmic sweater and he said quote "we got a new anamatronic dragon and diring rehearsals she broke her neck so we shipped her off to get repaired, we expect her back in about a month or two" But the show was still amazing! does anyone have the whole show (just the music( can you send it to me via PM does anyone have any info on world of color (a dca fantasm

same here! i went the same day u did!!! except we asked a girl castmember. she also said in rehearsal her neck snapped and they are trying to make speedy repairs. we were a bit disappointed but the show was pretty cool! my family and i are planning to go either on July 27th. or August 2nd. I'm praying she'll be back by then! ^^"

yeah its true she was supposed to make her debut in which summer nightastic came out but the dragon had a rehersal and it seemed fine at the time search fantasmic dragon its the first vid of the rehersal

Ursula was too heavy - she finally collapsed on herself one day, upon which we decided to retire her from the barge and just show her on the water screens.

everyone loves this float because its never seen, so its kind of like a mystery, but if it was still working i bet that everyone would be like "no big deal" being gone is what makes this float so cool, but i do reallyyyyyyyyyy miss it:)

I actually loved this float...I thought it was totally cool cuz the eyes sort of glowed. It was really neat and I hate that it's gone :(

that one of the things i prefer from MGM's rendition, they involved more villains than just the 3 disney bitches...er i mean withches

To me, even though I really like the villains, the DHS version seemed to be overkill. The original intent for DL's version was Princess vs their villians. Snow White=Witch, Ariel=Ursula, Auroa=Maleificent. But Belle came around, and they replaced Auroa with Belle. Chernabog was in more relation to Fantasia. The DHS version just put villains everywhere.

Rumor has it the float was damaged and the imagineers decided to use the money allocated for fixing Ursula on other areas. Don't worry if you missed it, the barge was easily the worst thing about Fantasmic and it was good they got rid of this eyesore.

He did record the entire show. There was just no point to post more. The dragon is the same today as it was back then. The dragon seen in the commericals was only a puppet. There was never really a full body dragon.

I wish they'd bring this back. I recorded Fantasmic in 1995, and 5 years later, they had scrapped the inflatable Ursula seen here. It was sad to just have the screens and not have the eerie Ursula floating by waving her arms with glowing yellow eyes.

Fantasmic is now in WDW at Disney's MGM Studios. The show is still Fantasmic! My 11&13 have both made sure I know they want to see it again when we go in Feb '08. If you haven't seen it, well obviously I recommend you do.
