Saw this same show, a few weeks before this in an old garbage dump 40 miles south of San Francisco. But between enjoying the vocals of Donald Fagan, the coolest hipster person who ever lived, that great Jon Harrington, that wonderful drummer Keith, etc, I also somehow fell in complete and ecstatic love with that searing backup singer-or really both backup singers. As one old enough to have had many amazing experiences, I have come to the conclusion it doesn't any better than this show.
There is nothing wrong in this performance. Fagen's voice goes gutteral at all the right parts, the drum supports and emphasizes the music just as it should, the guitar and the flute-piano-I-forget-what-it's-called, the piano, everything melds so perfectly together. Even the backup vocals, particularly in the last bridge/chorus McDonald's additions (if that's who they all are) are perfect. What an amazing concert.
I freakin LOVE how Keith Carlock is hitting the floor tom in the 2nd prechorus (starting at 1:42) at the end of the phrases. Just awesome! It adds so much to that part IMO.
@YYZDRUMR I concur. F prozac or weed or whatever. Put the best of Steely in a kick ass stereo system and crank the hell out of it. Your mood will instantly improve...
I would like to extend a personal invitation to this high order musical grace and genius to visit our sector of the galaxy again some time soon. Sigh :)
Walter Becker is the shit. Smooth and effortless, his guitar work is just amazing. I've loved Steely Dan since I was a kid and it was playing on our trusty old stereo in the 70's.
It a Hohnor Melodica. It's basically a harmonica that's controled by a keyboard. You blow into the mouthpiece and play the notes. They make several differet models. Teh one he has is the most expensice model - but I don't know how much it is.
Go to Volvoxburger on You Tube and see a couple of his vids. He does a really nice job using one.
THE DAN OWNS ALL... They are BY FAR one of the LAST REAL bands of our time... Unspeakably Great Musicians Playing TOTALLY AMAZING and Original Music.... Nothing is better than this.....
Carlos this is ofcourse excellent 5 stars again!!!! Another one on my playlist,Thanks so much!!! I've even told my son a 37 year old Steely Dan fan about your channel we love it!!

Man, I remember hearing this very recently at the Fox, the shuffle diplomacy has started, I got my dose, but chase it while you can.

@7sevo7 that raspyness in his voice in the chorus is a gift that improves w/ age.
