Great idea! The Pleiades is a great open cluster to view with binocs, just follow Orion's belt upwards in the night sky.
Check out Stellarium which is free software to simulate the sky and find objects.
Upgrading to a sub-$100 telescope from Walmart will open up viewing double-stars (there is a cool blue-orange combo int he northern cross) and the rings of Saturn (which are now almost edge on but will become more visible over the next 7 years).
I nearly bought bonoculars yesterdays but I didn't know what to get .. I wanted the nikon but gets very costly then I saw the reflectors for the same price.. not meade. I want to be able to see galaxy arms and hopefully colour? High aperture and sharp but still portable.

Will this work in Holland? is Europe part of the northern hemesphere? (spelling?!)
I would love to follow these series.
ChompOnThis81 2 years ago
Yes, it is. Everything above the equator is in the northern hemisphere.

Nice introduction to astronomy, but the backgroundmusic sounds like irritating noisepollution to me.

I hear a LOT about this "Phil Plait". I've heard him mentioned on "SpaceRip", "AndromedasWake", and now here.
Wait...is that AW in this video? "SiriusStargazing"? The music sounds like his, and that IS his voice...

Simple answer is yes. But you could have just as easily watched AW's newest video to figure that out.

Which I did...but after commenting here.

It is excellent that we can identify him by his soothing accented voice alone :)
sgtbigs22 2 years ago
Yes, so what is your point?

My point? What point? I don't understand what you are getting at...

really excited by this channel, have wanted to start stargazing fr a while now, but don't know where or the best ways to do it.
I hope this channel can answer my questions.
As i said before, really looking forward to this channel.

best way is to get a nightvision monocular. you see much more stars using a night vision. i got mine for 110€, it's not too costly :)
