As a Firefighter and homeowner I wold happily loose my job to know lives are saved. However, this is not an issue. Residential home sprinklers have been shown to be not only reliable and safe but to REDUCE the amount of damage done by a fire. I personnaly have lived in Alaska for three years with a installed sprinkler system and never once had a problem. Not from freezing, false activation or anything else.
Gross exaggeration of sprinklers' effectiveness. They do not work as claimed here. They've also ben know to be triggered under false conditions causing huge water damage when there was no need for them to be activated.
lol. My house wouldn't even burn O_o it's made of.. stone.. thing. Oh and.. even if firefighters lost their jobs, there would be people developing and making sprinklers instead :>
What they really fail to mention, is that a sprinkler system is only a SUPRESSION system, it's not there to put the fire out alone really.
I mean, yes, in this scenario, it obviously did, and sometimes it can, but if the fire hits something super flammable, the sprinkler system alone won't stop it.
@Rainbowtardiful Not really, simple sprinklers wont save every disaster. But it is a good asset to help save your homes. If a fire started in my home and i had sprinklers i wouldn't trust them with my life, id still call the fire department for professionals. Sprinklers aren't meant to put the FD out of business, its to help save lives.
@Rainbowtardiful Actually, it saves firefighter lives and has virtually no impact on firefighter employment. At least not until you approach complete sprinkler coverage because you staff according to the maximum likely threat; you won't lay someone off because a few more houses have sprinklers...
I thought this was supposed to be funny because it was recommended based on my interests. Thanks for wasting my time. FYI: 10% off is peanuts compared to what it will costs me to get this installed in my home. I will continue to use common sense to avoid burning my house down, thank you very much.
According to the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, if installed during new home construction, home fire sprinklers often cost no more than 1 to 1.5% of the total building cost.
The sprinkler system would ruin a home just as much as a fire when triggered, the entire house would have to be gutted
