@Jefrma -- Well, this is the fun part of analyzing a movie -- no one can be wrong with predicting what happens next if there is no sequel! I may agree Jefrma, but it really would depend on what happens in the immediate aftermath of her leaving and if their hearts grow for each other in time. Tobin may come to realize he's had enough with his work and just like she has no one back in Matoba, he has no one in the states? He may just run after her. He seems like the romantic type.
This really is the masterpiece moment from a very good and well acted movie that didn't nearly get as much fanfare as it should have. Two of the best actors of our time, a great director, and a very fine script and story. It should have been bigger. I actually like their first 'connecting' moment better when she asks him if he knew about the beavers and how they die, then replies "you did not!" The way she said that wins my heart for Silvia. She was such a great movie role.
@MillerMo10 maybe the story was just too "simple"? I like this movie too a lot and especially fell for the relationship between sean and nicole, and felt so pissed when in the end she "had" to return to africa and leave him behind. I just cant imagine tobin moving after him, visiting yes but moving, no.
