  • IVAN BASSO

  • we know for damb sure lance was tested but of course that doesnt mean shit as we have heard from his ofrmer team mates . the whole u.s. postal service team was on a program of e.p.o for all 7 tour wins

  • Hey did sombody drug test voeckler after his wins?

  • Absolutely hideous climbing style. Give him an A for effort, but his technique needs some much needed attention.

  • i noticed it this year too, when he really wanted to keep yellow on the same climb, his pedal stroke was so desperate, like hes just flinging all of his weight onto his pedals to keep him going. its the spirit of a true rider.

  • Instant Mute

  • When Tommy Voeckler dies, and if he is an organ doner, I call first dibs on his heart.

  • 2:14 guy with us flag and viking hat LOL

  • Voeckler has got balls!

  • i love voeckler's fighting spirit!

  • Thomas = God of cycling :-) oups

  • Thomas = God of ciclyng :-)

  • The music is so dumb. I can't even watch the video that's how bad the music is.

  • @A1B2C3D4E5D6E7F8ful back then riders were allowed to remove their helmet on the last climb, if it was a summit finish, helmets were only made compulsory the year before

  • Great run at the Tour de France this year as well, seven years after this vid was made! Allez Thomas, hope to see you back next year as well.

  • @synti12 Ah les US Postals, quelle bande d'injectés...

  • more remarkable Voekler was not on Steroids and EPO either...like some people ...ahem....

  • Voeckler has not changed one bit

  • Thomas Voeckler, outstanding TDF 2011. Now an adopted Brit....................

  • @All those who claim they are doping:

Differences with previous years can be clearly seen by observing today's quite lame Contador. They are not doping more, it's the exact opposite: everybody is CLEANER. Thomas Voeckler has always been a champion, this year he is finally able to express it because doping has receeded. Thanks to the controlling authorities and federations for striving to make this sport something exciting and fair again. And congrats to Thomas Voeckler and his teammates.

  • @Kalth3n It is more that Alberto has riden the Giro this year, and he has won it. He is an human he cant resist these efforts of the Giro and the Tour in a single year at top speed...

  • @Kalth3n Exactly! French cyclists were always among the cleanest! Our anti-doping measures predates many of the other countries and are fucking strict. After the festina scandal, France was even the country almost single-handedly pushing for the creation of the World Anti-Doping Agency FFS! plus French sport fans fucking hate doping way more thjan anywhere else. It's about the fight. Not only in the TdF Voeckler had a great year! Cleaner sport is better for "small" teams. FRANC JEU, ENFIN!

  • @AuxaneD oh you mean like Virenque and men like that? LOL

  • hes doping this year....how else can one explain the drastic spike in performance from previous years? Give me a break, hes all suddenly a world class climber now? Voeckler and Rolland= cheaters.

  • @rand0m0nium its called keeping your powder dry....he wins races here and there nothing massive but hes saving himself just in case the opportunity arises in the big on which it did this year and he took it brilliantly! fair play voeckler you've got irelands backing now that roche has dropped back

  • Comment removed

  • ANDY will beat your ass !!!!!

  • You have to wonder how much of the time difference can be accounted for by EPO.

  • and repeated this sort of performance again today. What a guy. . . Don't stop. . .

  • Looking back it's crazy how dominant USPS was.

  • Watching Voeckler win/keep his jerseys in 2004 was my first exposure to Tour de France magic! Tommy, vous avez beaucoup de fans en Amérique

  • VOECKLER

  • Voeckler !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After watching Voeckler climbing twice Plateau de Beille in yellow jersey, i can say that i'm proud of being french !

Im not sure that he could win the Tour, whatever the performance he has shown is really great.

Allez Voeckler et vive la France !

  • what is the name of the guy commenting? and what channel does he work for?

  • @tehcucumber Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin for Channel SBS Australia

  • @kaneda4 Itv4 and Versus as well

  • Voeckler is what Santoro was for tennis. Not the best man, but a true magician, an uncommon entertainer that gives us faith in sports.

  • hes got a chance. Schleck and contador seem off form. if he can do it, it will be one of the most fantastic feats in the history of le tour.

  • i bet 2 euro for him to win the tour when he got the yellow at 70/1, the odds are now about 9/1, i am smiling and hoping

  • @iamrossok

I put £4 on him a few days ago when he was 100/1...heres hoping that we both win! :D

To be fair he didnt let the 'main contender's get away in the Pyrenees where he was suppose to struggle so he's in good shape and doesnt look like he will be left behind! :)

  • alot of bold boys in USPS

  • @fignon : coincidence? Probably not...;)

  • @SuperTetos its a fact,

  • Lance thinks that Voeckler will win the tour this year!

  • Thomas va le faire!!! il peut succeder a Hinault!! La France est derrière toi!!

  • I know its against all the odds but I really want to see him win this years tour.

  • @sarz91 I would like to see that too, but I'm a bit worried about his time trialling. In the 2004 tour, he lost the white jersey in the final time trial. I'm absolutely astounded by how well he's climbing in this year's tour. There's a flat stage tomorrow, a rest day, then the alps. If he does anything close to what he's been doing the last few days, he should be at least in the top 10, if not the top 5.

  • @YiftertheShifter1 Ye crossing the Galibier twice in as many days doesn't look too good for him. The course for the time trial is all up and down. I think it might suit a punchy rider like Voeckler. That being said i doubt he'll keep the jersey until then.

One things for sure though. He wont give it up without a fight.

  • If thomas keeps riding like that, he'll win the tour 2011 :D

  • Comme en 2004 tu gardes ton maillot jaune au Plateau de Beille

    Allez Thomas !

  • As in 2004 you keep your yellow jersey at Plateau de Beille

    Go Thomas !

  • a few stage win vs 7 years of TDF championship, dominating power of greatest cyclist in history

  • someone needs to make a new video of old Thomas Voeckler defending the yellow jersey

  • a few minutes ago, voeckler repeated the events that unfolded 7 years ago. way to hold on thomas!

  • 7 ans après !! le retour du ptit Jaune!!! fais nous le meme numero!!

  • Voeckler grand champion!!

  • Voeckler's determination that year made him an instant favorite for me. In fact, I was more happy about the success of BBox in last years tour (2 stage wins and the polka dot jersey) than I was for the great fight for the yellow. It's gonna be great watching Thomas make them fight tooth and nail to tear that jersey away again.

  • Gotta love Tommy!

  • VOECLKER!!!! Hes got the Yellow!!!!!

  • VOECLKER'S BACK !

  • @Thieb25 voeclkers? xD

  • at 1:07 who is the other guy with Lance??

  • @npetrovi

    He must be Viatcheslav Ekimov

  • @npetrovi Ivan Basso maybe?

  • @npetrovi That's Jose Asevedo.

  • @YiftertheShifter1 Pardon me, it's spelled Azevedo.

  • thomas Voeckler is one my favorite rider!

  • i see voeckler and think "come on you hero!" and I see armstrong and just feel contempt. for his whole team in fact including the manager. #hindsight

  • Tommy's effort on this is incredible I agree .. it is fucking ace!!!

  • As a Brit, I am, of course, a great fan of the likes of Cav, Millar and Wiggins, but, for me, Thomas Voeckler is the man. His courage and determination are truly inspirational. I'd love to see him take that next step up to top the GC in a major tour.

  • FUCK Armstrong!!! Go Voeckler :)

  • Lance's 2004 bike is sitting in Greensboro NC at the Trek bike shop right now...as well as one of Gary Fisher's rides..a Hoo Koo E Koo..

  • Lance's 2004 bike is sitting in Greensboro at the Trek bike shop right now...as well as one of Gary Fisher's rides..a Hoo Koo E Koo..

  • Indeed Voeckler has great talent and huge determination but lets not forget that cycling has a big strategical component. Voeckler retained the yellow jersey one more day coz Johan Bruyneel knew that he wont shine in the mountain and according to me the pressure US Postal are putting on him that day was to test and wear him.

  • @vinesen1 Yeah but don't forgot there was some drugs in their, I'm sure of it on Armstrong's side but maybe not on Voeckler but I don't know

  • @ArmyOfSweden How can you be sure, are you an official of the Tour, an agent of WADA or an agent of UCi.

neither you nor me know whether Armstrong has ever taken P.E.D and so far it has never been proved so lets just give him benefit of the doubt and lets say that he is the best cyclist in modern history of the sport.

    Cheers mate!

  • Lance never failed an official drug test.

The results you are talking about were done in 2003 or 2004 to certify a testing method to detect EPO. So there is no double standard. All riders caught doping have been dealt with as per regulations.

If you never fail a drug test, there is no reason to be suspended.

  • clean have you forgot the festina affair

  • its amazing how much muscle mass voeckler has gained since this video...

  • I was in France when this took place. I always remember the French tv announcer willing and imploring Voekler to keep the yellow jersey as he closed in on the finish line "Allez, Allez Petit Thomas! Allez Petit Thomas......." Great to see the pain in his face turn to joy as he realizes he did it.

  • history

  • hahaha......clean.......so I guess you all were with him 24/7 that year? Please. It paints a pretty picture, clean underdog fighting the big bad doper, but in reality they are all doping. You can't win the tour, hold the yellow, nor even compete with water alone. Accept it and enjoy cycling for what it is: a competition between the best athletes and celebration of human achievement.

  • A clean rider fighting against the biggest fraud of the sport !

    Well done Voeckler.

(What a joke the famous blue EPOand blood doped train of US POSTAL , they should have weared blood-red jersey)

  • RESPECT LANC ARMSTRONG !

  • Great Armstrong

  • This is the most inspirational ride I have ever seen hands down. I had been watching the Tour for years and I was watching this live on the edge of my seat thinking Voeckler is isolated by 5 US Postal riders with no help. It looked like Like another episode of someone keeping the yellow jersey warm for Lance but, Voeckler had that intangible thing called "HEART"! He took them all on! Whenever I ride, and I am in pain, I think of Voeckler and keep on going. He had INTESTINAL FORTITUDE!

  • Lance Armstong is a legend and has never been tested possitive for any banned substance end off story. If you dedicate your life to the sport as he has then you deserve the succes he has had, a true great off the sporting world and will be missed in the 2011 tour de france.

  • Shouldn't they be wearing helmets?

  • Respect Voeckler a true fighter.!

  • Thomas Voeckler has my respect for all time for this ... he dug in and just gave it everything for the yellow ... chapeau!!!!

  • That was a great year. I was rooting for Voeckler. Everyone knew he would lose the yellow jersey eventually, but he held onto it for one more day. The guy had no form on that bike, just sheer determination. That jersey gives you strength. All of France was proud of this boy.

  • Boohooo. Everyone crying about Lance need to grow up. He came, he saw, he conquered. In professional sports, results are what matters. Even if he had doped, the end justifies the means. If you dont like it, then dont watch professional sports. Grow up lads!

  • @pdp110 and the end should justify to put Lance in jail without a trail... or people to spite on him eventually to rape him too. Am I correct according your standard of stupid Lance's fans?

  • @hghepo You wish that a man who has never committed a violent crime against anyone be thrown into jail and raped!? You are obviously the typical euro-trash American hater who is of low integrity and intelligence. Now piss off and leave the adults alone. Go protest on the streets and see how many people give a rats ass about your cause of shaming Armstrong...

  • @pdp110 You speak of low integrity and you have proposed that Lance has to dope because the end justifies the means... You should read the definition of the word sport, it's not too late to learn something for you. Then you may explain to Lance why doping is not allowed even for professional athletes.

  • @hghepo You're delusional if you think there are successful professional aerobic athletes winning championships clean. Are you that stupid? I know what "sport" is, and I know what happens at the pro levels. How? Because I train many pro & semi pro athletes. Lance overcame a life threatening illness,& won the TDF with hard work & aid from synthetic RBC regulating hormone,& you think that is not fair!? Do you even know what chemo does to a person? Did not think so, because you are an idiot!!

  • @pdp110 So you're admitting that you dope your own athletes? Dangerous words...

  • @V1Racerdude Where did i say that? Dont make assumptions

  • @pdp110 It's not fair to defame a lab, their people or a whole nation when you know they found the drugs you had taken

  • @hghepo You are an idiot. Disconnect your computer and throw it in a pool. Then go draw in a coloring book. This stuff is over your head, boy!

  • @TheRelentlessRT My friend, The Suddeutsche Zeitung just has put another bump into Lance by saying that he tried to pay $300000 to make allegations of EPO use by Lemond.

    Your "hero" is a scam.

  • @pdp110

Wow are you a pinhead like this and a BS artist often?

  • @dtorfleming Please formulate your sentences in a grammatically correct fashion. I have no idea what your comment/insult was referring to.

  • @pdp110 It's really kind of sad that you have to make false claims about a cycling hero to reconcile your own cheating. It's too bad you'll never be as accomplished, famous, or as well respected as Lance. And he didn't just win the TDF. He won it seven times. so fuck you . LIVESTRONG baby

  • @fulhamfan91 STHU son. I am a Lance fan, but Im also not a complete idiot like you are. You can find his hemacrit levels online. Realization is all of his GC competitors have been caught, or admitted to the use of EPO. Lance has not been caught, but his RBC is very abnormal at times, which is a strong indication of doping. And I was a d-1 football player on a championship team, so dont pull that "youre a jealous loser" crap on me, boy. I bet you never even played sports. Peace out b*tch

  • @TheRelentlessRT

Lance has posted positive for EPO 6 times in the Tour of 99'. Look it up on google, I'm sure you'll find the story and why he wasn't punished for it(tests were done in 2005 I think)

  • @soulripper30 haha. I know about the tests. They were blind tests on unnamed samples from the tour. Legally, they could not attache the names of any riders to them. Then somehow, journalists and WADA attached Lances name to some of the samples tested. Some WADA scientists even dispute the accurac of those tests. Also does not explain his next six tour wins that never had any form of positive tests. I am also not a conspiracy theorist, so I dont buy the sh*t that the euro press prints about lance

  • @TheRelentlessRT Don't say stupidities. Samples were anonymous, results are not disputed and are available on WADA website. Lance himself gave the key to Ressiot and so the latter was able to identify the samples belonging to Lance.

For the other TDF, Kohl, Landis have explained how it's easy to beat the testing.

Please explain how Lance was able to have a 48-49% hematocrit at the end of TDF without doping.

  • @hghepo I would for the 100th time, but you idiots just keeping arguing, so whats the point? Why do you even write about this? Its all over the media, and it does not change anything. He is, and always will be, the 7xTDF winner. He overcame cancer, and won seven straight. I personally do not care what he put in his veins. Your sport is dirty to the core, and you bitch about the only man who has not been sanctioned. over 5% of world population has over 50%, so that does not explain how he wins..

  • @hghepo What i want explained is why you would continue to tarnish your sport's reputation. Are you really that spiteful, jealous, and a POS? I trust WADA as much as I trust the UN, OIC, etc. And that is little to non. If they truely had enough evidence on Lance, he would be in court and in front of congress. They dont! That is why he is still champion. Cry all you want, and reference all the WADA articles you want; it means nothing. Just like you profile on here. Meaningless. You are nothing!

  • @pdp110 To clean sport is not tarnishing it. The reverse is true.

Why do you want to give false hero and protect cheaters and dopers? Are they good model for your kids? Do you want justice or a world with no laws where cheating is the rule?

  • @TheRelentlessRT

They didn't do EPO testing until the olympic games of 2000 in Athens. So that's why Lance Armstrong took so many risks with EPO in the Tour of 1999 because they wouldn't test for EPO anyway. You only got banned then when you had a hermatocrit of above 50% in your blood. It's easy to stay below that or to dilute your blood so it goes below 50%. After EPO tests were normal in cycling he obviously stopped taking as many risks. Although he still doped all of the Tours.

  • @soulripper30 So you knew Lance took EPO in 1999, also knew he doped all the tours....i have a question who the fuck are you? are you jesus?

  • @jessciaalba

Eh? It's no secret that Lance tested positive 6 times for EPO during the Tour of 1999. His lawyers were able to find some procedural errors and that's why he wasn't convicted for it.

And to answer your question. No, I'm not Jesus. Jesus doesn't hold a candle against me.

  • Voeckler resisting to the blood doped and cheater Lance Armstrong !

  • I remember I was a kid then, cheering for Voeckler and booing Armstrong... It was insane, and I have never seen a similar thing again.

  • "clean" Lance was right: French are lazy as prove it Voeckler.

What would he had done with EPO provided by Lance's doctor, Michelle FERRARI

  • very good : }

  • Brave Guy

  • 0:34

    killzone mode

  • hats off to Voeckler , but his style sucks! am i wrong? boy done well though, but he knew it was only a matter of time.

  • I was thinking the same thing, especially when out of the saddle. But wow, what an effort. He definately turned himself inside out that day! Very motivating. Everytime I watch one of ogonzilla's vids I get so amped up, I just gotta go ride!!

  • the good ol' days. Love it.

  • it isnt 2003 , but 2004...

  • shit look at that postal office train how someone can match armstrong back then with a team like that.

  • THIS VIDEO ROCKS!

  • Totaly clean? difficult to say But for sure he was on a totaly different regim than Lance who used the whole Ferrari's program.

Don't forget, if a french is caught doping, his provider and helper face 7 year of jail and big fine in France. Coincidentaly french riders became lazy when the antidoping laws came.

  • Great ride Thomas... it's always difficult to ride against EPO or blood doped riders who are breathing like soone in his rocking chair

  • haha. why are you all negging this guy? he is just telling you the truth!! idiots

  • This is cycling when its best. This is why Voeckler is a so popular man. He fights to the end!

  • that's cycling in its best ;)

  • One of the more memorable moments of the last 5 years. And for his efforts he got to keep the jersey for 2 days because the next day was a bunch sprint.

    Respect!

  • lol hardly anyone has mentoned him so

    GREAT RIDE BASSO!!!!!!

  • "...still dancing on those pedals" :D

  • Yes lets hope he can win today.....

  • Lance is still kicking ass 2009

  • Grande trabalho do Zé Azevedo, a levar o lance a vitoria. muito bem. força portugal

  • This is one of the most amazing performances in the Tour de France of the last years.

Screw the lack of (climbing) talent, just 100 % determination and spirit. That's why cycling is such a great sport ... that, right there ...

  • allez voeckler!!

  • Few things to comment:

    1) Thomas dude looks crooked

    2) Ivan Basso has not got the right style with the way he is wearing his cycling cap backwards, its too tight and small.

    3) Let the yellow jersey go, your legs are not going to forgive you tomorrow, try for another shot at a stage win instead

  • 1) Voeckler is crooked because he's breaking his back defending that jersey

    2) I'd say Ivan Basso would probably know how he likes his hat after all these years

    3) No one should give up in the maillot jaune

  • A fucking legend! <3

  • Merci Thomas pour tout ce bonheur! Et pour aujourd'hui encore, bravo !

  • Hate to give a frog credit, but that was one of the grittiest rides I've ever seen.

  • Azavedo and Ruberia, super climbing domestiques!!!

  • This is one of my all-time favorite TdF moments. Voeckler just about killed himself just to keep the maillot jaune one more day...it took serious guts and determination. Bravo Voeckler!

  • defiance! 100% of his effort went into that ride, serious respect.

  • Allez voeckler, a stunning CLEAN ride, he is the hero of France and BRitain when we saw his ride.

  • great job from voeckler

  • LANCE!!

  • a truly honest and "clean" rider trying to hold on the well deserved yellow jersey...

  • By tough french scrutiny, neither a mayor competition winner, nor a record breaker--with consistent results & just by common sense when you compare his performance to his "dirty" position such as LA and company. I watched a TDF video here where the peloton is climbing relaxed while Voeckler was the only one out of the saddle struggling to maintain the insane phase

  • So what your saying is because Voeckler was worse than a legendary cyclist, the legendary cyclist must be cheating? 7 years in a row isnt consistancy?

  • @hfer I remember that race, 2004. Voeckler conquer the "mailot joune", almost casuality, but defend it day at day in Alps an flat stages, against all odds, until the stages of Pirennes. If I were French i would be proud of his effort.

  • @kinered I am French and I am proud of his effort. This race was fantastic

  • @hfer when exactly did Lance fail a drug test, which I assume you are insinuating? Rooting for the underdog is one thing I can totally dig, but comparing his Voekler's "purity" to those at the tete de la course may be a bit naive.

  • @chrisharland Lance failed a drug test in 1999 ! It was cleared by UCI which broke his own rules : TUE have to given before doping test, Lance TUE was done 2 days later after the announcing of the positive test.

In 2005, the 1998 and 1999 samples were tested for EPO, 6 samples of Lance turned positive for EPO.

What are you insinuating on Voekler about his purity? Double standard? Had he 6 EPO samples standing on shelves somewhere?

  • il avait assuré ce jour là, le héro de l'étape, c'était lui, je me souviens, j'avais regardé l'étape dans un bar à honfleur, y avait un américain à coté de moi.

  • Love Armstrong. But this was one of the greatest performances in the TDF EVER. Voeckler turned himself INSIDE OUT for the better part of 2 hours to keep the yellow jersey for France....He was ALL OVER his machine. How did he find the courage?

  • whats the name of the song, please write in here! ty!

  • Chemical Brothers - Life Is Sweet (Delik 1)

  • What song is this ? Ogonzilla's writeup says Chemical Brothers Delik ? I can't find it on Itunes ???

  • it was 2004 tour de france!

  • hey ogonzilla! if u dont watch tdf this year... i will kick ur ass. got it?
