@songmansinatra120 No problem, thanks for the reply back, just one question is this played in an open g tuning or standard... One more time----GREAT JOB.
I agree with trekeaseVT on every point, your rendition of Mr. O'Keefe's original is by far better than the current list of artists I have listened to or watched. My only complaint is the wristwatch style 'beep', which only distracted me for a second or two. Other than that great job. Thanx for the lesson!
I've listened to many renditions by many well known artists and yours is truly an honest, soulful, and faithful interpretation of the original by Danny O'keefe. You also have some remarkable elements of Hank Williams in your voice that give a sincerity that is lacking in many country artists. To present this song with no backups and just your guitar is a remarkable achievement, I hope you continue performing in your own style. Thanks from Austin.
Very nice my friend...I played this on the radio in 1972 when Danny had a hit with it...haven't heard a better cut than Dwight's. I interviewed him in 2001 in Nashville at the CMA award show that year...great guy by the way...he loves to talk!...You have a real nice soft touch for this tune...keep up the good work...keep going, never give up! :-)
you are very good, and this is such a lovely song. There several more songs on that album by Danny O'keefe that I think would fit your style and voice. I sure would love to hear you give them a try. Keep up the good stuff.
thanks, its a great tune alot people cut it. willie nelson, elvis did it. dwight yokum. i like the danny o'keefs version the best. he also wrote the tune jackson browne did the road. very talented dude.
I love Danny O Keefe, The Road, led me to you... it is amazing and so are you brother...

My mom used to sing this for my brother many, many years ago. Charles was his middle name.
He died a few years ago.
My mom said losing him was worse than losing a husband.

then this song is for you charles, no more blues-rest in peace.
