How do you get the greatest fight in heavyweight history? You pit two incredible inside fighters with diamond plated chins against each other. What a battle.
@00SENNENGOROSHI00 tua's still boxing but his handlers completely screwed him .. kevin berry kept tua out of the ring for nearly 2 years. and the fact that he came in extra fat against lewis is a statement to the kind of camp they were running. Tua was on a good run when this fight took place, and the tua here what of gave hell to anyone in the hw division at the time. lewis included. sad to see how he reverted to just plodding around throwing the left hook. its like his right arm was severed.
I remember the day this happened... Pissed me off til this day.. It was a close fight but it should of either been tua or a draw but clearly tua got the best of him most of the fight, a win this fight would have have tua an earlier title fight while he was in his best shape, not like how he was in the lewis fight, he was 256lbs, this fight he was 225... They really robbed tua in this one..it was one of those fight where you just wanna shot a judge.. But a draw maybe but cmon... Tuaman
I had Tua ahead 117/113.. I think Tua dominated the fight from round 5 and out. I think the judges was a bit carried away by the number of punches thrown by Ibeabuchi. I we where to judge only on punches thrown and landed, it was a good decision.
I had Tua with the slight edge in this fight. I could also understand if they declared it a draw. Ike may have gotten the win but he was never the same after this fight. He had all kinds of psychological issues because of the constant pounding by David Tua. One of the all time great fights.
@bangitslo cmon man...Ike threw punches with venom..Tua defesive skills and head movement countered well.....this was a great fight... Joe Frazier was good no doubt but this fight was give n take to the max....
This is shit fighting. Beaubuchi throwing those soft little jabs. That's why I LOVE Joe Frazier. He gave his all in every fight. Every punch meant to damage. Tirelessly working his man over, wearing him down with shots to the body, then to the head. Most tireless working fighter ever. Never held, never backed up, just work, work, work. Smokin' Joe!!!!
I disagree with the comment that tIbeabuchi couldn't beat any of the Klitschko's, I also disagree with the omment that Ike was a brawler. He fought at close reange most of the time on this fight to smother Tua and not give him space to throw the hook with power. He was very smart and if you see the Bird fight, he was the first to ko a prime Bird, who btw beat Vitali. Plus lesser fighters than him have beat them both...
These are great boxers.I watched Toney toney and Samuel Peters.They both looked like two fat sea lions fighting.These guys here would just knock them both out in few rounds.
man thats how u fight both fighters not backing down not 1 fighter being the stalker while the other 1 runs away like the klitschkos, haye or lewis who jab & run jab & run, no both david & ike just stood in the middle & just smashed each other, this fight deserves the record 4 the most punches thrown in a heavyweight bout cause man the heavyweight division is dead at the mo & i c tua as the only 1 who can put some excitement back in2 it
@wekiwisdofly they are exciting fighters but they're simply your run of the mill,dumb, in your face brawlers,thats why guy's like these never become champions,klitschko's on the other hand,are intelligent,smart boxers and thats why they dominate the division and will continue to do so,even a bum like monte barrett out smarted tua the other night and should've won
Both fighters are super tough, so many punches thrown with no knockdowns! And they both look to be a in good condition still... Not really for Ike though.
the fact that these guys went the distance with combinations like that, it deserves 2 have the record 4 the most punches thrown in a bout, maybe tua did the hurt business & but threw less but gotta give it up 4 ike even though it was close great fight
@stanmancam I agree! In the second half of the fight, Ike was slinging a lot of punches. Where as Tua was starting to land cleaner, harder shots. Hell of a slugfest though! Plenty of excuses to be worn down and tired.
Ike threw more punches and landed more punches...I think that's why he won. But I agree with you of how close this fight was. Both hitters threw strong punches
@supersmasher99 You say: Ike almost went down. I almost won the lottery. I almost married the girl of my dreams. I'm almost 7 ft tall. Almost... get it?
IKe had a chance to be the last great black American fighter, but got thrown in prision for raping a girl in Vegas I believe. What a dummy. He should have just dropped 3 hundred and banged a call girl.
honestly most these punches have no zip not as much energy expended as in some fights no footwork. sure it is a decent pace but compare this to the thrilla in manilla and they are worlds apart ali and frazier were jumping about bobbing and weaving and throwing power shots ike is throwing little shots with no zest. furthermore the thrilla in manilla was in sweltering heat of the Philippines with high humidity. this fight is impressive but not on the same scale. ps. i think this was an even fight
As much as i love David Tua and a massive fan - this fight was absolutely legend and Ike deserved it . No other fighter has gone toe to toe like that to Tua and for good reason, for Ike to come out and stand tall and take all those shots which would of knocked out any other competitor is amazing - good on him . Too bad the temptations of being a star athlete got to him, he would of been an amazing fighter if he stayed focused and on track. I would of loved to see a rematch
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
boxers that tua have knocked out werent the same afterwards.. example daroll wilson no losses coming out of ko over shannon brings faced tua and was kod in the 1st round he had 2-3 fights later and retired.. john ruiz kod in 1st rd later only to turn into a jabbing and holder fighter.. ike had no probs prior to tua fight later starting to have nightmares and hearing/seeing things.. tua he only not kos fighters he also scars them mently and emotionly
Tua lost against Chris Byrd not that bird is garbo cause he is good but not a true heavyweight and took all of what Tua could give u cant compare him to any top heavyweights flat footed wild swinging no skills
@devillhater . You guys ought to stop this "Byrd was not a Heavyweight". When Byrd was competing as a HW Cruiserweight was 193lb and Byrd weighted between 210 and 220. That makes him a HW in any book, including mine. The guy spent most of his time claiming to not be a HW to enhance his performances. Ali, Frazier and most fighters from 20 years ago were in that range. Rocky Marciano fought around 185-200lb. Stop propagating the myth. Byrd WAS a full fledged Heavyweight.
I cant believe after all those punches that they dont really have any cuts or swelling! I really hope Tua gets a shot at a title in the next year? He has for sure got a real chance. Shame not to have seen Ibeabuchi carry on fighting.
It was a newspaper in Western Samoa that was published some time after the fight.....I wish I could have read that paper because I don't believe Ike was on steroids. Although it is rare that a cut-up guy could take those shots, throw hundreds of punches and still be standing
@supersmasher99 You mean read a paper from Western Samoa that just ONE guy read? Give me OFFICIAL info from sanctioning bodies, labs and a credible paper in the US where the fight took place.
@Todaline I have nothing to prove to you research it yourself Ike went crazy off of steroids thats why he got arrested for RAPE later in his carrer sounds familier? lol many steroid users get arrested for RAPE etc......
@supersmasher99,@supersmasher99, There's NOTHING, NOWHERE linking Ike to steroids. Get your facts straight. He took drugs, as in coke, not steroids. You may not like the guy, but please don't attribute to him things he never did or at least never proved to be true. The article linking him to steroids was read by ONE person, an Western Samoan. No paper, no TV, no internet site wrote about that. One guy's anecdote made you a believer. Wow.
@soSiccK wtf are you talkin about. Tua shoulda won. he landed the harder shots and won more rounds. who cares if ibeabuchi threw more? this was a robbery
@jjjxxx777 I suppose you're part of the guys out there who think that the sudden Mr Universe looks on Pac is natural but a guy who's not nearly as "chiseled" is on something!!!
this fight set the record and beat the thrilla in amanilla but in all fairness ali and frazier were fighting in sweltering heat in manilla where at ringside people in shirts felt like they would collapse never mind the fighters so yes this fight is impressive but ali frazier 3 was unparralled
Not haters, just an opinion on what I or anyone else believe. No difference to what you would believe in. Judging by the amount of comments you made (minus one lol), it is obvious that your the only hater here lol
It's pretty funny when the Klitschko haters are so desperate that they have to pin their hopes on an insane roid freak who's in jail. Ike is no savior.
Ike obviously had everything needed to beat Tua (though it was extremely close) - strength, ability to take a punch, height, reach, defence, and mainly stamina. In retrospect, Tua's main chance was to get him while Tua was fresh and strong. Tua obviously thought he could wear Ike down - it was just amazing that he could not. Tua's tactics are obvious for all to see - get in close, land some big ones, and either knock him out or wear him down and then knock him out. Simply did not work.
I like to see both 'Tua' and 'Ike' go head to head with the 'Klitchkos' brothers. Although, Tua was out matched by the likes of taller boxers such as 'Lennox', however, boxers can only mature and grow stronger physically and mentally. Don't get me wrong, Klitchkos's have fought good fighters though, however, when you compare good fighters to great fighters, I would say both 'Tua' and 'Ike' will pulverize them with strength and power.
You are dreaming. Tua isn't stronger than the Klitschkos -- he's strong for a guy his size. Tua lost to Chris Byrd, he ain't beating the Klitschkos any time soon. Nobody in their right mind is going to stand there and trade with Tua. Ike was a dope fiend and a roid freak and he lost his marbles from it. He was denied parole recently because he's nuts and he isn't even due for another parole hearing until 2012, when he'll be 39. If he doesn't get out then, he's got no chance of a comeback.
Ike was juiced to the gills in this fight, and started losing his mind shortly thereafter. As for how Tua would do against the Klitschkos, you saw how he did against Lennox Lewis: he couldn't get inside and lost easily. The Klitschkos are even bigger than Lennox and are just as good at keeping opponents on the outside, so Tua would likely lose to the Klitschkos much as he lost to Lennox. Tua at 5'9" he is at a terrible disadvantage against guys like Vitali who is close to 6'8"!
theres a difference in skill and size here, lennox was much taller than ike, and more skilled, lennox didnt trade with tua, he fought a smart fight, and ike wasnt on steroids, he was just mad
haha gta b kidn,a young tua and ike wud destroy both klitschos.their lucky thers no gud heavyweights around.the klitschos a gud but not the best,fighting guys like arreola and dat please.david tua wud knock dem the fuck out.
i believe both these guys would of gotten to vlad. vitali is a different story and would have made a great with either or these guys - imho. tua did have a chance against lewis and was owned. ike made his own destiny, which is too bad. he was something
I'll agree with you on Vlad, he has no chin and mentally falls apart. Vitali on the other hand has survived against Sanders(who if nothing carries a big punch) and was never really hurt against Lewis. Vitali has a chin, is very mentally strong, fights very smart and is awkward as hell and is tough to figure out. I believe he would, maybe Tua will get is chance if keeps winning, smack Tua ass from pillar to post. Ike vs Vitali, to me is a great fight and IMHO is a pick'em fight.
wlad today would have destroyed both. Wlad has a huge jab and he wont risk trading with these guys. Ibeabuchi isnt unbeatable, it's just tua failed to land effectively. If he fights wlad, wlad's right crosses would be much more devastating as it's precise from long ranges. Wlad today is a much better fighter than in the past.
I agree that Vlad has shored up his defense and fights much more conservatively. Against Wlad, Tua would eat a lot leather and maybe he retreats like he did against Lewis, but it only takes one punch from to Tua to change the fight and Wlad would have to be on his game 110%. No fighter is unbeatable, including Ike, his fight with Tua was close and could have went either way. I feel he had the speed, work rate and of course power to get to Wlad.
Wlad is a good fighter but i doubt he would survive Tua's style - im not being biased but Wlad's style is undisplined - he wins fights by powerful jabs and a long reach . Tua might be not as skillful but he'd sure give Wlad one good run for his title .
@kingdinglong thats what they said bout Lennox - tua took him all the way to 12 rounds . Wlad is good, but nothing compared to the skill and flare of Lennox, and if Tua could take him to 12 rounds, he sure can Wlad as well .
@kingdinglong undisplined lol Wladimir Klitschko is one of the most displined boxers currently Tua is overrated he even talks about eating burgers i understand u dont like wlads style but it would easily beat tua
@bunce101 No, neither one of them would have. Both of those guys are tougher than the Klitschkos, but if either Tua or Ike ever fought one of them, it would look exactly like "Tua vs. Lewis." The Klitchkos would just keep them away with their crazy long arms and knock on their heads for 12 rounds.
@bunce101 the klitschos (or how ever u fkn spell it) are really just the best of the shit. they're not that good, but neither is anyone else at the moment. imagin how shit it would be being them, they;ll be remembered as fuck all. even lewis knocked out the good one and lewis was shit, boring to watch. i wish tua got him......
@rottweilerdog10 lewis was shit? .. lewis was perhaps one of the smartest fighters of his era. ring iq goes a long way. the klitschko's .. not a fan, vitali is good, but wlad just irritates me. i hope haye knockes him out.
@latinoish37 He certainly wasn't the same after this fight, although it could just be a coiincidence. Besides, I didn't see any real power punch from Tua landing on Ike's head... :S

@supersmasher99 You mean read a paper from Western Samoa that just ONE guy read? Give me OFFICIAL info from sanctioning bodies, labs and a credible paper in the US where the fight took place.
Todaline 1 year ago
@Todaline I have nothing to prove to you research it yourself Ike went crazy off of steroids thats why he got arrested for RAPE later in his carrer sounds familier? lol many steroid users get arrested for RAPE etc......
supersmasher99 1 year ago
@supersmasher99,@supersmasher99, There's NOTHING, NOWHERE linking Ike to steroids. Get your facts straight. He took drugs, as in coke, not steroids. You may not like the guy, but please don't attribute to him things he never did or at least never proved to be true. The article linking him to steroids was read by ONE person, an Western Samoan. No paper, no TV, no internet site wrote about that. One guy's anecdote made you a believer. Wow.
Todaline 1 year ago
@supersmasher99
Was it an opinion in Western Samoan paper that he used Steroids.....Maybe it was cocaine - 'cuz that's a drug. Not necessarily Steroids.
And how come I can't find it online? It would have been a big deal if he tested positive 4 steroids.....I don't see it

this fight set the record and beat the thrilla in amanilla but in all fairness ali and frazier were fighting in sweltering heat in manilla where at ringside people in shirts felt like they would collapse never mind the fighters so yes this fight is impressive but ali frazier 3 was unparralled

Don't get me wrong, Klitchkos's have fought good fighters though, however, when you compare good fighters to great fighters, I would say both 'Tua' and 'Ike' will pulverize them with strength and power.
buckmajor 2 years ago
You are dreaming. Tua isn't stronger than the Klitschkos -- he's strong for a guy his size. Tua lost to Chris Byrd, he ain't beating the Klitschkos any time soon. Nobody in their right mind is going to stand there and trade with Tua. Ike was a dope fiend and a roid freak and he lost his marbles from it. He was denied parole recently because he's nuts and he isn't even due for another parole hearing until 2012, when he'll be 39. If he doesn't get out then, he's got no chance of a comeback.
666marquis 2 years ago
you never know though, there's always a chance Tua could beat him, i think/hope he's learned from those fights

Tua obviously won this fight: what a robbery!
666marquis 2 years ago
Ike was juiced to the gills in this fight, and started losing his mind shortly thereafter. As for how Tua would do against the Klitschkos, you saw how he did against Lennox Lewis: he couldn't get inside and lost easily. The Klitschkos are even bigger than Lennox and are just as good at keeping opponents on the outside, so Tua would likely lose to the Klitschkos much as he lost to Lennox. Tua at 5'9" he is at a terrible disadvantage against guys like Vitali who is close to 6'8"!
666marquis 2 years ago
theres a difference in skill and size here, lennox was much taller than ike, and more skilled, lennox didnt trade with tua, he fought a smart fight, and ike wasnt on steroids, he was just mad
kareemabdullah 2 years ago
and tua was fat and out of shape. not exactly giving himself the best chance

Right, out of shape. I guess every fighter who isn't fat fights like this.

Klitschko will suck the cocks of these guys you say?
TheElykhoi 2 years ago
i believe both these guys would of gotten to vlad. vitali is a different story and would have made a great with either or these guys - imho. tua did have a chance against lewis and was owned. ike made his own destiny, which is too bad. he was something
thanks for posting fletcher67
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago 2
man they both would have taken Vitali and Wladimir out of there within 5
bunce101 2 years ago 9
I'll agree with you on Vlad, he has no chin and mentally falls apart. Vitali on the other hand has survived against Sanders(who if nothing carries a big punch) and was never really hurt against Lewis. Vitali has a chin, is very mentally strong, fights very smart and is awkward as hell and is tough to figure out. I believe he would, maybe Tua will get is chance if keeps winning, smack Tua ass from pillar to post. Ike vs Vitali, to me is a great fight and IMHO is a pick'em fight.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
wlad today would have destroyed both. Wlad has a huge jab and he wont risk trading with these guys. Ibeabuchi isnt unbeatable, it's just tua failed to land effectively. If he fights wlad, wlad's right crosses would be much more devastating as it's precise from long ranges. Wlad today is a much better fighter than in the past.
johannsebastienbach 2 years ago
I agree that Vlad has shored up his defense and fights much more conservatively. Against Wlad, Tua would eat a lot leather and maybe he retreats like he did against Lewis, but it only takes one punch from to Tua to change the fight and Wlad would have to be on his game 110%. No fighter is unbeatable, including Ike, his fight with Tua was close and could have went either way. I feel he had the speed, work rate and of course power to get to Wlad.
sinusbradycardia 2 years ago
@johannsebastienbach
Wlad is a good fighter but i doubt he would survive Tua's style - im not being biased but Wlad's style is undisplined - he wins fights by powerful jabs and a long reach . Tua might be not as skillful but he'd sure give Wlad one good run for his title .
kingdinglong 2 years ago 3
NOt sure. Tua might hardly touch wlad. Tua isnt impossible to knock out. If he gets tired late, we can see him going down at any moment.
johannsebastienbach 2 years ago
@kingdinglong thats what they said bout Lennox - tua took him all the way to 12 rounds . Wlad is good, but nothing compared to the skill and flare of Lennox, and if Tua could take him to 12 rounds, he sure can Wlad as well .
kingdinglong 1 year ago
@kingdinglong
Wlad=Tua
Lewis=Tyson
Leyenda1 7 months ago
@kingdinglong undisplined lol Wladimir Klitschko is one of the most displined boxers currently Tua is overrated he even talks about eating burgers i understand u dont like wlads style but it would easily beat tua
DarthMuse 7 months ago
@DarthMuse Ike can defeat the Klitscko brothers.Americans are just wasting Ike for nothing sake.Many year in prison while Tyson spent just few.
thirdexodus2008 7 months ago
@bunce101 No, neither one of them would have. Both of those guys are tougher than the Klitschkos, but if either Tua or Ike ever fought one of them, it would look exactly like "Tua vs. Lewis." The Klitchkos would just keep them away with their crazy long arms and knock on their heads for 12 rounds.
instereovideos 1 year ago
@bunce101 the klitschos (or how ever u fkn spell it) are really just the best of the shit. they're not that good, but neither is anyone else at the moment. imagin how shit it would be being them, they;ll be remembered as fuck all. even lewis knocked out the good one and lewis was shit, boring to watch. i wish tua got him......
rottweilerdog10 9 months ago
@rottweilerdog10 lewis was shit? .. lewis was perhaps one of the smartest fighters of his era. ring iq goes a long way. the klitschko's .. not a fan, vitali is good, but wlad just irritates me. i hope haye knockes him out.
Souljah808 8 months ago
@bunce101
Ok for Ike, but for Tua is impossible he has been outskilled by Lewis and Lewis ability is very similar to Vitali.
Tua cannot beat Klitschko.
Maybe Wladimir, but not Vitali.
