I've been "called" a liberal more often than a conservative. It neither flatters me nor insults me.
The only problem I have with it is when the person your debating is trying to use the term to oversimplify complicated issues or tries to use it as an insult. As though if I'm having a debate with someone and I call them a conservative, that is supposed to negate any good points they might make afterwards or supposed to automatically win the argument for me.
Do you know why these people think children's books and tv shows are liberal? It's because these books and shows teach egalitarianism, empathy, and altruism; traits that all children should inherit. It's not liberal, for God sakes!

There are major differences between both books as they both have very different objectives. "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming" is based on scientific studies which can educate children about the effects & probable consequences of air polution on our planet. Give children facts & information & let them make of it what they will. I think the biggest and most important difference between the conservative book and the book about global warming is that the 'liberal under the bed' book teaches kids to hate groups of people, whereas the global warming book gives ideas on how to deal with something proactively. My environmental sciences teacher told me that once the ice melts that the cold water with inturn make the earth colder, causing the ice to refreeze and everything to turn back the way it was. and also most people only show data from the past hundred years, but if you go back to a 100000 years ago the data tells you that there have been mutiple cold and warm spells that occur every 10000 years.

Look, I think there is a difference with publishing the scientific consensus, and publishing opinions. As a Christian and a Phd student, I am appalled by "eXpelled". The major problem with ID is not that it is a hypothesis, but the lack of it supporters to scientifically prove it. If ID can't be scientifically proved, then it can't be a scientific theory. It can be a religious idea, but it can't claim to be scientific.
Unfortunately, history has shown us time and again that scientific consensus amounts to some function of perceived ignorance and pure subjectivity. The arguement that scientific consensus dispels ID as a theory is circular and flawed. Whether or not ID exists as a science is contingent on whether or not you hold philosophy to be a science. Okay, I accept that the scientific consensus is subjective. And it does changes with time. But there is a process for anyone to show their idea should be regarded as a theory.
I am not saying ID cannot be a theory. But at this moment, it is only a (scientific) hypothesis. You may argue that it is flawed to use the scientific process to show it is a theory. But ID wants to be accepted as a scientific theory. Then it has to jump through the hoops, like any other hypothesis.

There are major differences between both books as they both have very different objectives. "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming" is based on scientific studies which can educate children about the effects & probable consequences of air polution on our planet. Give children facts & information & let them make of it what they will. I think the biggest and most important difference between the conservative book and the book about global warming is that the 'liberal under the bed' book teaches kids to hate groups of people, whereas the global warming book gives ideas on how to deal with something proactively. Whether one believes in global warming or not, anyone who thinks it's a GOOD idea to pollute the air is a moron.

I dont know about what goonts is saying however there is more researching going on in antarctica and farious other places. They are trying to determine why 1/3 of the honey bee's have disapeared, why slugs, frogs, salamanders ect. are all gone in the pacific northwest. In 2003 Seattle was overrun by army catapillars, a study was released the following year stating that the climate had changed enough to the point that they can bread expensially for a few weeks.

what authority does chris matthews have on this subject. Did he go to college and study it?. My environmental sciences teacher told me that once the ice melts that the cold water with inturn make the earth colder, causing the ice to refreeze and everything to turn back the way it was. and also most people only show data from the past hundred years, but if you go back to a 100000 years ago the data tells you that there have been mutiple cold and warm spells that occur every 10000 years.

What I think is frightening is that the aspect is that people can publish books that tell kids that evolution is the only way to think and it's even taught in schools and they can publish books that socialize kids to think that every aspect of what someone says of global warming is true. When someone stands by a creationist view or is skeptical about global warming, the liberals get defensive and attampt to silence the minority view. Why is that so obsurd?

For me, it is impossible to prove or disprove ID as a theory. Science is not the answer to everything, and it does try to stick to explaining the natural world. Similarly, for me, religion is a matter of faith.

Look, I think there is a difference with publishing the scientific consensus, and publishing opinions. As a Christian and a Phd student, I am appalled by "eXpelled". The major problem with ID is not that it is a hypothesis, but the lack of it supporters to scientifically prove it. If ID can't be scientifically proved, then it can't be a scientific theory. It can be a religious idea, but it can't claim to be scientific.

Unfortunately, history has shown us time and again that scientific consensus amounts to some function of perceived ignorance and pure subjectivity. The arguement that scientific consensus dispels ID as a theory is circular and flawed. Whether or not ID exists as a science is contingent on whether or not you hold philosophy to be a science. By your implied reasoning, Eintsein could have published a theory that was not accepted by his contemporaries, and therefore was not scientific.

Okay, I accept that the scientific consensus is subjective. And it does changes with time. But there is a process for anyone to show their idea should be regarded as a theory.
I am not saying ID cannot be a theory. But at this moment, it is only a (scientific) hypothesis. You may argue that it is flawed to use the scientific process to show it is a theory. But ID wants to be accepted as a scientific theory. Then it has to jump through the hoops, like any other hypothesis.
