If your having troubles with the thing after it was patched (Xbox) Just go into memory, Skyrim and thne delete the update, Disconnect from Xbox live, Go into the game, Do your shit, Then sign into Xbox Live and download the update again

1. Activate the bookshelf

3. When youre in the bookshelf menu, go down to your own inventory and press Right Trigger to read.

4. choose a path, then press b twice to get out of the book. BUT DO NOT GET OUT OF THE MENU OR THE BOOK WILL BE DESTROYED.

5. press x to store it, then get out of the menu entirely.

6. the book should appear on the bookshelf. press A on it and press do not read. then, press A to take the book.

7. repeat

I got it at level 3. I just stored it until it let me use it, I used it on level 16. Just forget about it for 16 levels, come back and do it then. Hope this helps!

IT WONT WORK --- IF you have downloaded the Patch 1.03 - I think thats the latest patch number: Even if you have multiple names to play under. That last patch affects the game...regardless of what particular name you use to log on under.

The ONLY way to make this cheat work after you have the last patch is to: REFORMAT - If your system is the PS3. I think there is a similar action if you are running XBOX. I did the Quick Format which took 20 seconds maybe.

XBOX 360: [Not Patched House] - Take a book to your house, save your game just in case you mess up. Open item Menu, go down to books. Drop your book. Click "Read" so you read it from the ground. Now go to the Skill you want. Click A, Quickly click B and then Spam click A about 4 times so you re-read the book again, once thats open, click A to Take the book. Now go to a bookshelf add the book to it, now get out of the menu. click "read" from bookshelf, now click do not chose and take it. Repeat

@TheBomblee It still works, there are some things that can screw it up apparently. I thought it wasn't working, then I just slowly did the process. Don't read it when taking it off shelf just take it, then activate bookshelf and read Olgha and store. Repeat.

I swear I thought the patch undid this glitch cause this was the third or fourth youtube vid of this I had to watch. Everyone else seems to rush over it because it is something they understand.

@BasedGodism You can't unpatch it and use your current save. You take the patch off by going to the Xbox Dashboard - Console Settings - Memory/Storage - THEN without selecting a storage unit but having one highlighted press Y, then Clear System Cache.

this still can be done. i used my house with the bookshelf with the chest on top of it.

1) do the normal step of opening the chest and reading the book. then store the book in the shelf. its very important that u back out of the chest screen then reopen it.

(for me when i tried doing this a second time a skill box didnt open)

2) so you have to use the bookshelf below to store it then click on the book to pick it up and say u do not want to read it.

3) then go back to step 1

@TH33B3STGAM3R you get the quest by traveling to the location that is north of the winterhold. you CANT get by talking to a beggar or an inn keeper. go to the god damn cave and you get the quest. there is no other way. unless you have the pc version and decide to use console commands

you have to start by doing the main quest where you go to the college of winterhold then when you look for the elder scroll youll talk to the librian in the college and hell tell about the nutcase of a wizard will tell you to look for the elder scroll and then youll do his sideline quest after you get the elder scroll.

Hey broskies! Do the glitch in a cupboard (works even after patch). Here are the steps:

1. OPEN cupboard

2. while the cupboard is open, READ book (select skill)

3. then STORE the book into the cupboard.

4. then TAKE the book out of the cupboard and read it again and then store it again. Continue process.

FYI: you don't even have to close you're inventory screen. Be sure to save before hand.

it all starts with the mage guild in winterhold, they give you a quests that leads you to look for some asshole upnorth, then you have to do a few quests for him and thats where you get the book.

Simple instructons: Activate bookcase, scroll down to your books

select Oghma Book with "A" button, skills increase

Hit "b" button once to close book, then "x" button to store book

WITHOUT closing bookcase select Ogmha book with "A" button, when it asks to read or not say no.

TAKE BOOK with "A" button. REPEAT THIS PROCESS

Do the main Quest until they want you to find the Elder Scroll. As a part of that quest you will have to find some crazy Septimus guy. He is trying to open some old Dwemer safe. He tells you where to get the elder scroll but ALSO wants you to go and inscribe some cube thing for him. When you return the inscribed cube, Hermaeus Mora will appear and talk to you and basically give you the rest of the quest. The map markers will lead you. Just remember to do Crazy man's quest.
