  • Haters! Your place in the world is to express hate when you witness someone actually DOING something. Stop hating and go do something constructive

  • cool

  • Mawashi geri is a very hard blow to your head, onle that this guy here is not doing it properly begining whit his foot that should be in 90 degree with his legs hitting with the front(keeping ur fingers away is u like them), second this one here is unfinished, not enough spin

  • @xDavidlol this aint a kickboxing roundhouse...

  • @Stratocaster3211

The mawashi geri where you actually spin around is not pointless but this one that is shown is pointless if you execute it like it's shown here. Because it wont have any power at all. The laws of physics are against it. You need atleast 10 cm inside an opponent to do some damage. This kick is a kick on a straight line. In other words it lacks power.

  • @SeventhRoar666 If this kicks lacks power then you're not afraid of taking one of those kicks to the face then? :)

  • @rammsund

I eat those kind of karatekas to breakfeast so no i'm not afraid of that kind of kick.

  • @SeventhRoar666 Never underestimate anybody, that may be the last thing you did.

    Gym is not dojo.

In dojo you master the enormous power and control for your kicks and punches,in gym you lift weights.

  • @SeventhRoar666 There are two forms of every kick, that one which teaches the principles required and is done in the air with no power in it... and the combat form with full power in it where you aim through your opponent, this one cant be done into the air as it will make you fall over. If he can do the first very likely he can do the second. That one is worth fearing.

  • @eajholmes

Interesting. I cant do that one, but i can do the spinning mmm.

  • @SeventhRoar666 The difference is mostly in the way you have to have a controlled loss of balance if that makes sense along with a greater range of motion in the hip. The idea is to be going through the opponent and then when you hit them it returns your balance. End result is it looks roughly like the guy above but if you miss you continue through the spin. Most stuff you see in karate videos is a similar training variant of the original move. The large punch from the chest for example.

  • OS!

  • ....sheesh... all this pointless attacks. Just have MMA.

  • @SeventhRoar666 you are a keyboard warrior? Haven't you seen these kicks in MMA? I have.

  • @DojiSan

Well not exactly those kicks. You see kicks that remind you of them. No i am not a keyboard warrior i'm a fighter. What you see is thai-kicks. You kick more with the hip and when it miss you spin around. It looks the same but you never switch stance. You just spin around so the kick is different in MMA. Check Bas Ruttens explaination how to do a good kick and you will understand better.

  • @SeventhRoar666 thanks for the explanation.

  • @DojiSan

    Np, train well.

  • @SeventhRoar666

Please, not another one of those "MMA > all other arts" posts. Please put MMA (and all other martial arts) into context, and remember that all martial arts have techniques that are more or less useful for particular applications.

I'm not saying MMA is better or worse than other arts. It's excelent 1vs1 in a restricted/controlled environment, but it will get you killed in a battlefield.

Finally, there is a difference between demonstration and application.

  • are you kicking koshi or an soku? (mind the spelling)

  • tap...... ))))))))))

  • aim to strike with the ball of your foot, cutting down at the target - this sucked ass. plus you bring your arms in too close to yourself

  • Nicely executed but not complete technique. I would prefer to see the knee raised at the side of the body and rotated to execute full roundhouse. Here the knee appears to come through the middle, almost like mae geri, and then twist to perform the 'roundhouse' element.

  • @Tapiola2007 I agree. The reason for that is probably that is influenced by competition karate. In order to add unpredictability, the knee is raised the same way initially, whether mae, yoko or mawashi, then turned into one of those, making it harder to block since trajectory and final target point cannot be discerned until the last split of a second.

  • @cdrad51 That's a good comment and entirely correct. If that is the case here, it should be stated clearly because this appears to be an instructional video for basic kicking technique.

  • @Tapiola2007

I don't think this is an instructional video. Instructional videos have instructions. This is more of a demonstration video. Raising the knee in front can be a number of reasons. For example it might be to make your opponent think its another kick. You might change what kick you are doing at the last minute if you see their hands change position. Or it could be a bad technique (usually we are taught to bring the knee up to our side).

  • @iBeansOnToasTi But that's precisely the point. There are no instructions as to what this is meant to represent, other than mawashi geri. Anyone who is looking to learn the correct technique may think this is correct and not know that it could be an execution of some alternative technique. However, this is all academic - the kick performed here is very nice!

  • @Tapiola2007

If people want to learn a good technique, they should not be on YouTube. They should get to a dojo and have lessons.

  • @iBeansOnToasTi That I agree with 100% ;)

  • perfect technique

  • @nicodlr

    not nearly perfect :)...

  • @Nawidyeah ..it's perfect execution

  • toc

  • Hinten absetzen, mein Lieber, hinten absetzen. ^^
