All this Import Vs Muscle is idiotic. The point to an EVO is the small turbo engine with high power. The point to a Muscle car is the Large engine with high power.
The only thing i will point out about muscle cars is the lack of power for the size of the engine (if you take Honda's S2000 @ 115bhp per litre Naturally aspirated) but i'm British and use to small high output engines. I Love the look and sound of Muscle cars but love the handling of imports and both are fast as UF!

Evo's and even supercharged GT's/ cobra's can't hang with me so # of cylinders matters not!! I run 12.3 @114 now with only $1500 in easy mods, but should hit 11's this spring with a few more quick upgrades;) I only have old videos of me in the 1/8th but will post new ones this spring.
I don't know what all the fuss is. The Evo won. I'm pretty sure that it's not stock, cause 12.3 is pretty damn fast, but the numbers don't lie. I myself prefer mustang, I have a 2002 GT that I bought for $6000 with 30K miles on it and I dropped another $10K into it over the years and it gets 538 rwhp and I upgraded the prehistoric handling on it. An STI has over 100 more horses than my car, and runs a 13.3. Stock evos have more horsepower than that even, plus an electronically aided all-wheel-drive system - most stock Evo IX's run ~ 13 seconds, mostly under that, so if this guy has anything done to his Evo it's very minimal.

funny when guys say "ive never been beaten or passed by an import" i go to the track just about every weekend when its nice. i have lost to several cars in my STi only a handful of which were v8 muscle cars. there are some definatly fast muscle cars out there, but there are also some very fast imports out there. i mean an Evo and STi cost 32k brand new. with an exhaust and a tune they are into the 12s. so quit hating on the imports. i dont bitch when a domestic beats me.

A Mustang GT does not come off the lot full equipped, so what all do you expect from it? it's roughly 270 HP naturally aspirated, your car REQUIRES some form of forced induction to push that amount of HP, so why are you acting high and mighty?
To add to that your car is a little lighter, you have grippy tires, and all wheel drive, in most cases you will most likely get off the line faster, I'll give you that. But once you've raced a mildly modified Mustang GT and win then brag.

funny when guys say "ive never been beaten or passed by an import" i go to the track just about every weekend when its nice. i have lost to several cars in my STi only a handful of which were v8 muscle cars. there are some definatly fast muscle cars out there, but there are also some very fast imports out there. i mean an Evo and STi cost 32k brand new. with an exhaust and a tune they are into the 12s. so quit hating on the imports. i dont bitch when a domestic beats me.

congrats on your supercharged mustang being faster. you also have 4 more cylinders on top of forced induction it SHOULD be faster. problem is stock vs stock evos and STis own mustang GTs. it is just power to weight ratio. for their cost brand new there are few cars that handle, accelerate, and drive as well as evos and STis. in their price range. they do own. how many LOW 13 second cars can you buy brand new for 32-35k? not many.

This EVO is obviously modded but EVO's have the HP to WT advantage plus AWD. Although enough torque, horsepower, gear and traction overcome HP to WT the Stang is not in the same league as the EVO. Great cars, Mismatched Race. The EVO should be racing something comparable like an AWD Syclone or Typhoon.

A Mustang GT does not come off the lot full equipped, so what all do you expect from it? it's roughly 270 HP naturally aspirated, your car REQUIRES some form of forced induction to push that amount of HP, so why are you acting high and mighty?

To add to that your car is a little lighter, you have grippy tires, and all wheel drive, in most cases you will most likely get off the line faster, I'll give you that. But once you've raced a mildly modified Mustang GT and win then brag.

Evo does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds dude, a gt mustang does that on mid 5's; evo does 13's 1/4 while 'stang on high 13's... all of this, plain stock.

How about the fact people wanna talk about putting more HP against the Evo but the evo has to stay the same state? Try your stang Vs BR or AMS's Evo's, BR is 8.88 @ 172.74 and AMS is 8.56 @ 168 mph so whats the bases for the discussion. You have plenty of regular guys with 8 and 9 second Evos.

As much as I'm in love with the Mustang, having owned two or three so far... and currently with an S281, GT500 and my Sixxer in the garage... I'd have to say that the Evo could easily squueze out a victory...
You have to remember something... AWD cars are gonna get our stangs in the whole-shot... and that spool is what's gonna keep them just ahead of the pack... My Saleen runs about 9.8@141... and I'd still be afraid that driver error would let the EVO win...

Well its a shame you cant buy a M. Cobra Turbo Charged from the dealer... Its also a shame that Cobra is "SUPPOSED" to be good at a 1/4, since thats what everyone THINKS! So if it can be beaten by a Stock EVO, in the 1/4, Then seriously, THIS IS A FACT! A Mustang Cobra is good for nothing. Because, if you were to show a Cobra some turns, make sure you're wearing a helmet becasue you might flip it over!lol!

Wow I had hoped that people would learn that mod for mod a larger displacement engine will win in a drag race....7 times out of 10 a forced induction car will beat a naturally aspirated one. Notice how the cobra spanked the Evo and that was with a supercharger, if it were a turbo it would be able to push more peak boost and ultimatly go faster.
