The creators of this Sherlock Holmes must have had Gene Siskel as Holmes and Roger Ebert as Watson in mind. They would have made a perfect Holmes and Watson.
@hamletmiss Haha. The creators of this cartoon were inspired by Soviet TV series starring Vasily Livanov as Sherlock Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Dr.Watson.

@UrinationNation You can keep up with the latest news by following his livejournal account - "bubnoff". It's in Russian, but with an automatic translator you might be able to understand something. No offense Niffiwan, but this cartoon is ridiculous. First off, Holmes' body is way out of proportion with the rest of him. Second, a bullet that goes through somewhere about 7 objects (including two people) and barely taps Holmes? Third, the policemen are too stupid for their own good. And what about the talking dead people? I gotta say, the russians seem to have very wierd interpretations of Sherlock Holmes. Needless to say, i didnt like it. Sorry
Regarding Holmes' body: I assume you have the same objection to all other non-proportionate cartoon characters? what a disturbing view the Russians have of us brits! Eating dead mens steak, sucking each others fingers and Talking dead people these are all common occurances over here!
This is all done for HUMOR. Russians don't actually think that of brits. They just did it for good old humor, and it's just a kids cartoon. And actually, tons of people who speak English (Britian, Canada, USA, etc.) have an EXTREMELY horrible view of what Russian people are. Russians are hated for some reason, even though it is a wonderful country with great people, an amazing language, and fascinating history. Russians dont hate you, you hate them, so you just HAD to write a comment like that.

and why are we talking about languages? Great cartoon.......humor is as delicate as a bulldozer, but very funny nevertheless. Russian humor always requires a little bit of thinking, and thats why i think its some of the best
Hey, these caracters are ironic replicas of Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson russian movie( from late 70s I think). It had many viewers in the UK and even the English Queen awarded the Sherlock Holmes actor - V. Livanov for being the most accurate Sherlock Holmes caracter ever. So all this comes from that movie, including the Holmes' cacaracter's voice. Watching the movie may help to understand the irony.
actually...english is one of the most complicated...once you learn about two or three other languages, you'll realize. I believe, that if you get past the alphabet (which is even easier when you learn compared to english) japanese is much easier, one of the easiest.
i was comparing english in general..not to a specific language...but it is harder than many languages...english has the most exceptions to grammatical rules that we dont think about...other languages have irregularities...english just has more than most
I agree with Antonkvit, in English you don't have to conjugate adjectives and the conjugation of verbs is less affected. I say English is easier, particularly and with it being so widespread in the media, quite easy compared to other languages.
That depends. UK is a small country, Australia is staying alone in its corner, and in US the English usage is decreasing rapidly, due to Spanish immigrants.
Its said that only about 13% of worlds population are natively taught English, and the number is diminishing with each year.
nope. english is one of the simpliest languages to learn. russian is really complicated, but if you want a real stuff try finnish or estonian, or even better hungaryan...
Of course some languages are more difficult then other ones, but I think it also depends on where you are from. For example, I'm from Holland so German and English are very easy for me (especially German looks and sounds a lot like Dutch)
French is harder to master because the grammatical rules are(completely) different.
But you can hear those languages very often here and I think that's why they are easier to learn.
I also try to learn Russian and that is really difficult.
+1 English is historically simplified. It lacks the things that make other languages hard, like gender for the non-living objects, cases, etc. I speak Russian and German, and English is nothing like them in complexity.
