Age - 16 years (most states) for permit, then some on-the-road experience before license.

Max speed - varies depending on environment; most congested East Coast states max out at 65 mph; more sparsely populated western states go as high as 80 mph. Previously the speed limit on I-90 in Montana was "reasonable and prudent."

Tranny - most are auto, but most performance cars and some others are manual.

Speed - almost exclusively marked in miles per hour, except some areas near Canada.

the thing is... if your goal was to make 48 states in 120 hours, I bet the highlight of your trip was the freeway, that's why when I go on dream roadtrip there will be no time limits, no constraints, we can rush or go along as leisurely as we please.
