@Oricelis you are right my friend i did some research on the CSA and honestly the Union are the same imperialists as they were back then trying to force the confederacy to be part of the Union.Hope you will get your freedom back
@lumbanraja2 My state never succeeded in seceding. It got invaded and placed under martial law when the state government was still holding meetings about secession.
Don't get me wrong though, i'm proud to be American. I love the striped banner my ancestors fought for. But the Civil War changed this country, in some ways good and other ways bad. Slavery had to be abolished, but many people would like to see a return to states before federal government, like our founding fathers made it.
Im Canadian, with no part of this North-vs-South ideal, and the war was a business dissision because for the Confederates it was more profitable to leave the Union, and for the Union it was more profitable to keep the South in the Union, its just like the Revelution, it was mroe profitable for the US to leave the British Empire, and the war ended when it was no longer worth it for the British to keep fighting. The history of the US is business dissisions when you get right down to it.
What a lot of people don't know is Lincoln forced the south to attack fort sumter. Being that he let it be known he was sending a reinforcing supply convoy to give the fort garrison the equipment to retake "federal property"
The guy could've just negotiated. But instead he forced the hand of the rebels and indirectly started a war that would slaughter hundreds of thousands.
The Civil War was pushed by bankers. It was unneeded. The Europeans abolished slavery in their lands without war. The United States government could have bought the slaves and released them. Instead, they decided to engage in a war that would result in the death of hundred of thousands, the destruction of the South and heavy debt.
The war was never about slaves. All the slave talk is just a way to justify it. (I believe most slave owners lived in the north) The South wasnted the States to remain largely independant. Norh didn't agree and invaded, north were the agressors. I'm talking form Dutch view, so I'm not really baised. I see the south fighting for their freedom, not the other way around.
Coming from an Italian Yankee, I can honestly say that I love the South and think if I were a Southerner I'd be proud. The anthem and this flag don't represent slavery but a people and their way of life.

Hmm let's see, if the south had won, I think they would have stayed in the south instead of reunification, so America would be split in two. And slavery would not be abolished til probably circa 1940s, oh and it wouldve been real cool if the natives set up their own republic in the west.
The Confederate flag is like the Nazi Flag...both represent, oppression, murders, discrimination, racism, bigotry, injustice, slavery, torture, inhumane treatment, and everything that is evil.
@Vengrence Narrow minded? How so? What's your personal history of the Confederate Flag in regards to slaves on cotton fiields plantations and Jim Crow laws in the South?
@jusitke07 It's narrow-minded because you believe a flag is able to oppress, murder, or torture people, which is obviously ridiculous. Slavery occurred ALL throughout the world for centuries, should we stop using flags altogether?
@Vengrence With the history behind the use of the Confederate Flag, it's not being narrow-minded. It's being truthful. I agree that Slavery occured throughout the world up until today. I agree. But what I'm saying here is we shouldn't glorify something that represents evil rather than good. If we are complacent enough to forget history, we're doomed to repeat it. And by glorifying this flag for its evil is no way to remember the Slavery, oppression, murder, and injustice done to Afro-Americans.
@jusitke07 It is still a flag though. You can say all flags represent slavery because at one point or another, most of them stood for slavery. The confederate flag represents the culture of Dixie, only wealthy plantation owners even owned slaves. The overwhelming majority of southerners didn't have slaves.
@Vengrence Oh but the overwhelming Southerner fought to preserve Slavery and to keep it pro-White (Jim Crow Laws of Segregation). And yes, it's a flag in general, but it's a flag with evil and racists connotations.
@jusitke07 Most southerners hardly cared for slavery, they wanted to secede from the northerners who they considered to be oppressors, just like the US seceded from Great Britain. And obviously they were pro-White, the north was pro-White as well, this wasn't modern times.
@Vengrence Actually the North invaded the South to abolish Slavery there. And yes, in US History, the North has been pro-White with the South. But the North was socially more aggressive on equal rights for Blacks than the South
@jusitke07 Come now, you can't be that naive to believe northern whites gave one shit about blacks. The north fought the war because northern industrialists didn't want the south leaving the union. It would have derided their input markets quite badly. Not to mention the government quite liked the tariffs and taxes they got from the south due to cotton and other resource exports.
@Vengrence While it may be true that there were some Northern White who perhaps, who "gave one shit about blacks" BUT a good majority of abolitionists were from the North, and Harriett Tubman led escaped Slaves from the South into the North and onward as well to Canada. Rosa Parks was arrested for sitting in front of the bus in Montgomery Alabama, Martin Luther King Jr led most of his Civil Rights march in the South...you see why the Confederate Flag is a disgraceful flag?
@jusitke07 No, not really. You consign cultural traditions and claim everything in the south was focused on slavery. Only wealthy plantation owners cared about what happened to slavery. Should all northerners be considered greedy fucks because most greedy CEOs are yanks?
@jusitke07 Obviously south. And where do you suppose greedy bankers and industrialists all gathered at? If you're going to blame the entire population for the greed and actions of a few, atleast do it fairly.
As a Southerner, (no hard feelings, right guys? Riiiight?) I gotta say, we may have made the wrong choice to secede, but at least we got a kickass anthem out of it. *whistles Dixie*
@therealjarett the South was the largest slave-holding empire in human history--4 million slaves--no comparison to the small #s of slaves in the norther states.
@Cronin32b the largest slave-holding empire in human history was Russian Empire - more than 20 million people were the property of Russian nobility and imperial family. So, CSA do not look so evil as you may see with their 4 million slaves:)
@therealjarett Because the slave thing was only a justification so that the Northeners were the "good guys" and not the "imperialist hypocritical opressors".
150+ years later and those damn southerners are still in rebellious mode, and still praising their long gone "country" maybe another invasion Sherman's style is in place... that'll teach them!!..... LOL, just kidding, we love you guys, specially your food, and your women. You can keep NASCAR though :-)
@dekdk11 so you are mad when someone hates you so much that they want independence, but when independence is fought for anywhere else in the world, you're first to meddle? You are hypocrits and that is exactly why you deserve to be split up. I'll be the first European to not give a fucking shit about you.
Also the slavery thing? That's propaganda, while true to some extent, it was inflated like a balloon to look like the union fought for some noble cause rather than butchering independence.
@Ascensiam I don't know what nation you're from, but how would you like half of YOUR country rebelling? And wtf are you talking about? The GOVERNMENT makes those decisions! I'm a civilian, I didn't do ANYTHING! Besides, If the CSA won, than the UK would have just come back and taken us over again. Not to mention that Germany also would have won WWI! And slavery is just propaganda? The slaves didn't seem to think so, they wrote whole books on it!
@dekdk11 don't you think they had a reason? You have to justify killing the dreams of millions of people. Secondly, if the CSA won, slavery would have, due to enlightenment, probably have been abolished in the same century anyways. Also, you say Germany would have won, who says you cannot fight alongside the CSA against Germany? Having two governments governing the same area as the current government cannot be more inefficient. We would still have won. Lastly, my country never even used slaves.
@Ascensiam well I checked your profile, and u claim To Be Danish. well i can't argue with that, Denmark was voted the best country to live right now! But I still love America.
@dekdk11 in the end, everything is decided by referendum. The most likely thing to happen is probably Texan or Californian Independence in 2030 or later.
Also, if America fixes it's massive issues, non-americans may grow to love it again.
@dekdk11 Ascensiam is right about one thing, Texas and California will be politically different by 2030. Both of those states will break up into smaller states. It is said that Texas could break up into 5 states, and California into 2 states. But rest assured, neother of those states cannot or will not leave the Union.
Texas vs. White in 1868 essentially decided that seccession from the Union is unconstitutional.
@Snicklefritz1979 Tell me, what does the 'US' Constitution mean to anyone who want's nothing to do with the US? You don't expect India to follow British laws do you?
@Snicklefritz1979 And it is very obvious why they voted that way, becuase they just lost the war in 1865, and its only 1868, also out of fear. But if you read the 10th amendement, then it is constitutional
@Ascensiam i see the problem here. being danish, you have no idea what its like in usa. well ill tell you history: slavery was dying out due to its total economic inefficiencies. but the south was still highly racist, just look it up on wikipedia. anyway, americans at the time were extremely propagandically volatile, and once Uncle Tom's Cabin came out (a book which a slave wrote), the north erupted into anti-south. civil rights movements try to squash slavery. sumners cane incident. CONT
@Ascensiam so slavery is starting to get mildly squashed. now its voting time. abraham lincoln is removed from almost every southern colony's ballot. BUT HE STILL WINS. south carolina, which is particularly volatile, says obviously the south cant get anything done and secedes. it drags other colonies with it, splitting up relationships. robert e lee, hailed as one of the best generals ever (for good reason), reluctantly becomes a south general. mclellan becomes major north general. CONT
@Ascensiam now little tangent: mclellan is hailed as one of the worst generals ever. he has a bigger army, but he takes WAY too long to muster up the courage to battle. he was sitting in the same place with his army for a whole year. abraham lincoln eventually asked him to lend him is army if he wasnt usiing it lol. eventually lee went up against mclellan. and won. BY LOSING. by continually attacking mclellan and retreating back, he was able to intimidate the retard to run away LOL. CONT
@Ascensiam so... none of the south states today want independence btw. and about texas and california, they will not secede. not only do they not WANT to secede, but they will be owned by the the full force of the army if they secede. california is hugely america nad i guess texas also. the only reason theyre different civilian-wise is because of those stupid mexicans who are overflowing out of mexico, and ppl r starting to get mad at them lol. i recommend going to the ENGLISH wikipedia page!
@Ascensiam so eventually, stonewall jackson and jefferson davis and all of them were ousted by more competent generals, and etc whatever. now back to the point: south seceded because they refused to accept the voting results, and secession was illegal and obviously no northern state wanted it so they ended up fighting over it. so ill say this: the south had its own radical reason for seceding, and the north had its own justified reason for taking back the south. CONT
The fucking white supremacists and Neo-Nazis have ruined the good flags' name. If you think the Confederacy (or the Civil War for that matter) was fought just over slavery, then you are obviously uneducated. Only about 2-4% of White southerners owned slaves. What were the other 98% fighting for? States Rights! The North issued a massive tarif that bankrupted the south and gave the economic advantage to the Northern states.
@AlienBeliever897 Hello, i am interested in the thing and when I have tried to talk like you, sometimes i have been said or that i am a racist or that i am not the sufficiently racist.
Do you think that if the south had win and now there will be two states on the actual territory of the USA the slavery in the C.S.A will have been abolished and the south will be as free as the the north?.
@breizhcatalonia1993 Well there's really no way to know for sure what would've became of the US if the south had won. Perhaps the Confederacy would've conquered the north, or perhaps they would've just forced the Union to acknowledge their sovereignty and leave it at that.
But yes, I do believe that if the Confederacy had won they would've eventually abolished slavery. Outrage from other nations and advances in technology would eventually force them to end it.
@AlienBeliever897 I also tink the South would have abolished slavery. I mean, the North didn't abolished slavery because they are were such nice guys. They just had no use for slaves. They had no cotton fields but factories, were the workers were as cheap for the factory owner as the slaves for a cotton field owner. As soon as the technology would have made African slaves redundant on cotton fields, the Abolitionist would also had become powerfull in the South.
@AlienBeliever897 your right and Abraham Lincolns idea to remove slavery was only thought of to punish the Souths major money making way. The war started over money and because the south seceded the union and it was an attempt to get them back by the president. But it was seen as a racial thing because Lincoln himself was against slavery.
@AlienBeliever897 No, I don't hate the CSA because of their slaves. Well actually, that is just one reason. The main reason I hate the Confederates is because they were all rebels and traitors! If the CSA, America would fall.
@dekdk11 "Rebels and traitors"? Our country was founded by rebels and "traitors", idiot. The founding fathers were all for rebellion, in the event that the government became too corrupt and powerful. Which is exactly what was going on at the time of the Civil War. That's also a huge reason why they included the right to bear arms in the constitution. But hey, that right is rapidly being taken away from us nowadays anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter -_-.
The Confederates rebelled due to slavery. Plain and simple. A bunch of slave owning landholders convinced tens of thousands of poor Southerners to die for them.
Ahh... Greetings from the last state to leave the union, and the first state to rejoin! We're advancing slowly but surely, a hell of a lot more quickly than our neighbors further south! Equality has begun to spread. Equal rights for men, women, gays, straight, blacks and whites. Even less Jesus Freaks! Greetings, from Tennessee. In my opinion, the jewel of the south. I love Dixieland.
@magnalucian8 On Wikipedia (a 5 second check) there was no official national anthem. "God Save the South" was the unofficial, "Dixie" was traditional, and "Bonnie Blue Flag" was the popular one.
@FeverMutt I've got news for you, Kid. It hasn't been "Soviet Russia" Since 1991. I suggest you get you're facts and grammar straight. I also looked at you're page. What are you, One of these "Roleplayers"? My son does that. But, Anyway. I suggest you not make racist remarks, This is the NEW world. That behaviour is unacceptable.
I also suggest the people who agree Vote this up. Sincerely; Colonel Leks Mishka, VVS, Ureliki, Russia.

Oh jeez... lets clear this up:
The states seceded because of slavery. Just read their secession declarations.
The war started over the right to secede / keeping the USA together.
The north wasn't fighting to ban slavery, they were fighting to keep the country in once piece.
The reasons for secession and the reasons for war are related but not the same.

This wasn't the anthem of the CSA...in fact, the CSA did not have one. This was just a popular song of the time. Wikipedia is not your friend.

Abraham Lincoln loved this song. I agree with him in that I'm no fan of the C.S.A., but this song is one of my favorites.

@Ascensiam The CSA, supported slavery! not to mention, they were all traitors! The Union is unbreakable!
dekdk11 5 months ago
@dekdk11 so you are mad when someone hates you so much that they want independence, but when independence is fought for anywhere else in the world, you're first to meddle? You are hypocrits and that is exactly why you deserve to be split up. I'll be the first European to not give a fucking shit about you.
Also the slavery thing? That's propaganda, while true to some extent, it was inflated like a balloon to look like the union fought for some noble cause rather than butchering independence.
Ascensiam 5 months ago
@Ascensiam I don't know what nation you're from, but how would you like half of YOUR country rebelling? And wtf are you talking about? The GOVERNMENT makes those decisions! I'm a civilian, I didn't do ANYTHING! Besides, If the CSA won, than the UK would have just come back and taken us over again. Not to mention that Germany also would have won WWI! And slavery is just propaganda? The slaves didn't seem to think so, they wrote whole books on it!
dekdk11 5 months ago
@dekdk11 don't you think they had a reason? You have to justify killing the dreams of millions of people. Secondly, if the CSA won, slavery would have, due to enlightenment, probably have been abolished in the same century anyways. Also, you say Germany would have won, who says you cannot fight alongside the CSA against Germany? Having two governments governing the same area as the current government cannot be more inefficient. We would still have won. Lastly, my country never even used slaves.
Ascensiam 5 months ago

@Ascensiam well I checked your profile, and u claim To Be Danish. well i can't argue with that, Denmark was voted the best country to live right now! But I still love America.
dekdk11 5 months ago
@dekdk11 in the end, everything is decided by referendum. The most likely thing to happen is probably Texan or Californian Independence in 2030 or later.
Also, if America fixes it's massive issues, non-americans may grow to love it again.
Ascensiam 5 months ago
@Ascensiam In 2030, America will still be intact. People get very pessimistic in downturns.
dekdk11 5 months ago
@dekdk11 Ascensiam is right about one thing, Texas and California will be politically different by 2030. Both of those states will break up into smaller states. It is said that Texas could break up into 5 states, and California into 2 states. But rest assured, neother of those states cannot or will not leave the Union.
Texas vs. White in 1868 essentially decided that seccession from the Union is unconstitutional.
Snicklefritz1979 5 months ago
@Snicklefritz1979 Tell me, what does the 'US' Constitution mean to anyone who want's nothing to do with the US? You don't expect India to follow British laws do you?
AGTLI 5 months ago
@Snicklefritz1979 And it is very obvious why they voted that way, becuase they just lost the war in 1865, and its only 1868, also out of fear. But if you read the 10th amendement, then it is constitutional
Mark123USA 5 months ago
@Ascensiam i see the problem here. being danish, you have no idea what its like in usa. well ill tell you history: slavery was dying out due to its total economic inefficiencies. but the south was still highly racist, just look it up on wikipedia. anyway, americans at the time were extremely propagandically volatile, and once Uncle Tom's Cabin came out (a book which a slave wrote), the north erupted into anti-south. civil rights movements try to squash slavery. sumners cane incident. CONT
GDarkGoombaG 4 months ago
@Ascensiam so slavery is starting to get mildly squashed. now its voting time. abraham lincoln is removed from almost every southern colony's ballot. BUT HE STILL WINS. south carolina, which is particularly volatile, says obviously the south cant get anything done and secedes. it drags other colonies with it, splitting up relationships. robert e lee, hailed as one of the best generals ever (for good reason), reluctantly becomes a south general. mclellan becomes major north general. CONT
GDarkGoombaG 4 months ago
@Ascensiam now little tangent: mclellan is hailed as one of the worst generals ever. he has a bigger army, but he takes WAY too long to muster up the courage to battle. he was sitting in the same place with his army for a whole year. abraham lincoln eventually asked him to lend him is army if he wasnt usiing it lol. eventually lee went up against mclellan. and won. BY LOSING. by continually attacking mclellan and retreating back, he was able to intimidate the retard to run away LOL. CONT
GDarkGoombaG 4 months ago
@Ascensiam so... none of the south states today want independence btw. and about texas and california, they will not secede. not only do they not WANT to secede, but they will be owned by the the full force of the army if they secede. california is hugely america nad i guess texas also. the only reason theyre different civilian-wise is because of those stupid mexicans who are overflowing out of mexico, and ppl r starting to get mad at them lol. i recommend going to the ENGLISH wikipedia page!
GDarkGoombaG 4 months ago
@Ascensiam so eventually, stonewall jackson and jefferson davis and all of them were ousted by more competent generals, and etc whatever. now back to the point: south seceded because they refused to accept the voting results, and secession was illegal and obviously no northern state wanted it so they ended up fighting over it. so ill say this: the south had its own radical reason for seceding, and the north had its own justified reason for taking back the south. CONT
GDarkGoombaG 4 months ago
stupid Rebels. The Union is unbreakable!
dekdk11 5 months ago
The fucking white supremacists and Neo-Nazis have ruined the good flags' name. If you think the Confederacy (or the Civil War for that matter) was fought just over slavery, then you are obviously uneducated. Only about 2-4% of White southerners owned slaves. What were the other 98% fighting for? States Rights! The North issued a massive tarif that bankrupted the south and gave the economic advantage to the Northern states.
This coming from a guy in Kansas.
AlienBeliever897 5 months ago 13
@AlienBeliever897 Hello, i am interested in the thing and when I have tried to talk like you, sometimes i have been said or that i am a racist or that i am not the sufficiently racist.
Do you think that if the south had win and now there will be two states on the actual territory of the USA the slavery in the C.S.A will have been abolished and the south will be as free as the the north?.
breizhcatalonia1993 4 months ago
@breizhcatalonia1993 What exactly do you mean?
AlienBeliever897 4 months ago
@AlienBeliever897 1- I TOTALLY agree with you.
2- Do you think that if the south had won the war the actual territory of the USA will be divided in two countries?
3- If yes, do you think that the south will have abolished the slavery?
breizhcatalonia1993 4 months ago
@breizhcatalonia1993 Well there's really no way to know for sure what would've became of the US if the south had won. Perhaps the Confederacy would've conquered the north, or perhaps they would've just forced the Union to acknowledge their sovereignty and leave it at that.
But yes, I do believe that if the Confederacy had won they would've eventually abolished slavery. Outrage from other nations and advances in technology would eventually force them to end it.
AlienBeliever897 4 months ago
@AlienBeliever897 I also tink the South would have abolished slavery. I mean, the North didn't abolished slavery because they are were such nice guys. They just had no use for slaves. They had no cotton fields but factories, were the workers were as cheap for the factory owner as the slaves for a cotton field owner. As soon as the technology would have made African slaves redundant on cotton fields, the Abolitionist would also had become powerfull in the South.
AlJR189 4 months ago
@AlJR189 Exactly :D
AlienBeliever897 4 months ago
@AlienBeliever897 your right and Abraham Lincolns idea to remove slavery was only thought of to punish the Souths major money making way. The war started over money and because the south seceded the union and it was an attempt to get them back by the president. But it was seen as a racial thing because Lincoln himself was against slavery.
IncindiPro 3 months ago
@AlienBeliever897 No, I don't hate the CSA because of their slaves. Well actually, that is just one reason. The main reason I hate the Confederates is because they were all rebels and traitors! If the CSA, America would fall.
dekdk11 3 months ago
@dekdk11 "Rebels and traitors"? Our country was founded by rebels and "traitors", idiot. The founding fathers were all for rebellion, in the event that the government became too corrupt and powerful. Which is exactly what was going on at the time of the Civil War. That's also a huge reason why they included the right to bear arms in the constitution. But hey, that right is rapidly being taken away from us nowadays anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter -_-.

@AlienBeliever897 It ain't hypocrisy when we do it!
