@idrum4ever1 y the fuck r u gonna come on a saga video and talk bout great music like this u need to suck on a cock and listen to ur justinbieber ight btw heres some advice go listen to some saga, rush, rollinstones, somezepplin and go get somme pussy ight
Fall, 1981- 8th grade...... This video, song and through 1983 were the best years of rock in the last 30 years, bar none. MTV then showed the best..... Rush, Saga, Honeymoone Suite, The Shoes, April Wine...... God, take me back.... Today sucks so bad.....
@idrum4ever1 You want to strangle yourself watching these guys play their instruments eh? Sounds like some auto erotic-asphyxiation fantasy you got going on there you sick fag
Your point is well taken. The big difference with Journey, though, is that they only released one album between 1986 and 2001...this is a HUGE lull in activity which would lead me to agree with you that they aren't current. Furthermore, their membership has changed drastically from the group's heydey. DT, on the other hand, has been steadily releasing new material since its inception and has had stable membership since the early 90s with the exception of keyboardists.
I was in 10th grade in early '84. I already had forgotten 7th grade and Saga..... I was just praying that the Police wouldn't break up.... which they did anyway..... killer fuckin' year for any of us in high school, though! Saga ruled!!!
Michael Sadler, the singer, looks younger with short hair and without the moustache in this concert from 1984, as opposed to their 1981 concerts!...Great band from the 80's and great song, too!
Absolutely great! Saga is one of the reasons the 80s is the greatest music decade. What can you say about the quality of this sound and that voice. Man! this generation of musicians can't achieve this.
I like Saga a lot, too, but to say this generation of musicians can't achieve it is an overstatement. I suggest you check out the likes of Dream Theater (and their side projects), Neal Morse, and Symphony X. Also note in this particular clip that the tempo drags, and the guitarist speeds up and gets out of sync with the drummer at around 2:50. Their live stuff from 1981; however, is nearly flawless.
Perhaps your misspelling of Dream Theater is an indication of how much you know about this group. If Dream Theater is not from "this generation," how do you explain the band's most recent album (released this year) hitting #6 on the Billboard album charts, a position that is an all-time high? Yes, the group has been around for a long time, but its continued success and growth in popularity leads me to suggest a cross-generational relevancy that is closer to the present than Saga.
Having a hit album this year doesn't necessarily make them from this generation.
Journey's last album was released last year. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Album Chart, No. 2 on Billboard rock album charts, and No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
Does that make them part of "This Generation"? They were formed in 1973. I wouldn't consider them a mainstream band for the youth of 2009.
There's no doubt that DT is a talented band, but I wouldn't say they're "current".
Great to see them at the zenith of their relevance and fame. I really loved this crap back then. Check out the bass player at 3:43. That is sincerely the all-time greatest downbeat jump/recover ever in rock and roll. That's what jock rock was all about. Bet he can't do that anymore. Reminds me of a gazelle in Africa being chased by tigers, "Don't pick me"
Saga was one of my favourite bands of the 80's. LP Behaviour is probably their best record thanks to outstanding arrangements and performance. Lets take keyboards and guitar.
Saga's new CD is coming out this October 2007 called 10,000 days hence 1977-2007. I'm also saddened to say Micheal Sadler, the lead singer is retiring from the group and this will be their last album. aaaarrrrrggggghhhh!
Europeans took notice... Ian influenced a huge amount of Euro Rock guitar players in the 80's and he helped pioneer that 80's European Hard Rock guitar sound. Funny that it took a Canadian... Blame Canada
PATIENTLIONSFAN: Very funny, he he. I think I've been to 20 concerts. Saw Reo Speedwagon 3 times, which was the best of all of them. Thanks for responding to my comment and God Bless You:)
the original video appearrs on their dvd "silhouette". I used to own it until some f-ing crank head figured he'd need the 50 cents he'd get for it after breaking into my house and stealing all my dvds etc.. hope he's dead in an alley now-prick.
If you live in Canada you get to hear Saga all the time on 80's stations. This is one of my alltime favorite songs. Thank you for posting this video. good memories.
God I still love these guys. They werent as big in the States - and we only got to discover them thanks to MTV - back in the day it was far more international and diverse with the playlist than it is now...and it at least it was purely about music then. I live in the UK now and have yet to find anyone thats even heard of them...
Killer song, great band. Love the instrumental 'Conversations' from album Worlds Apart. Just amazing musicianship at a time when actually PLAYING an instrument was paramount...
bad picture quality but a gem better than nothing would sell a fortune to get this vid back in 1984

One of the most creative pop/rock songs in the 80's, they dont write like this anymore, MELODY, CHOPS and PRODUCTION, in conjunction with cool vocals.
leave it to Canada to put these type of tunes out, can you say RUSH!
