  • WHO CARES ABOUT THE MODEM.

I WANT THAT MOUSE PAD!!! IT'S BLOWING MY MIND... A FREE MOUSE PAD!!!!!!!!!! FREE!!! YES YOU HEARD ME RIGHT, FREEEEEEE!

  • You have to remember... Even if you had a 28K modem, the best speeds you could ever expect to see was about 3K. My bro is reminding me about our 1200 baud that would d/l 100k in an hour! Which, if you calculate it, comes out to around 0.2K. There was a graphical indication that showed you the data coming in. Extremely slow.

  • its flying off of shelves due to peoples uneducated minds and ads that appeal to people just because 1 guy says its cool and knowone else knows there is 1000000000X better out there. The same logic used to sell consoles that are outdated and overpriced.

  • I'm Buying It!

  • Lmao. I constantly have to remind myself that my 9mb internet isn't THAT slow :P

  • 28k Modem! Now you can play your games at blazingly slow speeds!

  • @MrMakeman dude, in that time the games used to send and receive only position data, and the buffer was of only one byte wich was of 255 char possible to be compared to a table of things to "happen" like "A" for kill, "B" for level up, "C" for getting some item...

the most heavy thing was the "chat" modules in the games...

  • Gay.

  • Wasn't sure but the free mousepad pushed me over the edge.

  • 28k??? HOLY FUCK WHERE CAN I BUY THIS?!?!?!?

  • this is so bad

  • FREE MOUSEPAD????

  • As an Embarq customer, this would be a step forward in speed.

  • how old is this?

  • I dislike you

  • Talk about a mindfuck.

  • Laptops weren't that slim back then, wait they didn't even have laptops back then!

  • @2010mustang2

actually IBM had some, but they weighed 50 lbs.

  • Comment removed

  • its fake guys - that lap top did not exist when 28k modems were out...

  • 29kg of meth?

  • kill yourself

  • I remember buying my first Zoltrix 28.8K modem for $1 at the grand opening of Canada Computers (on Kennedy rd); I started lining up at 2 a.m. in the morning lol

  • fake

  • You're not funny. You were never old enough to even know how modems were used.

I used 56k until 2006, so don't come yelling at me. The thing was awesome, and the dial tone made it even more rememberable.

  • @JDalpha22 I'm sure you wasn't talking to me but if so please know that I've always used 56k modems untill our currant computer.

It got the job done assuming i didn't want to download anything or watch youtube videos.

  • GET YOUR FREE MOUSE PAD TODAY!!!!

    The doctor says I'm crazy!!!!!

  • You will never have the same internet again! right........

  • Now am gonna download iTunes! oh, wait a second, it'll take a whole week

  • i ''only'' got 10mbit in Denmark (can get better speed)

  • This is better then T1 LOL

  • lol a wonder we only get 50M here(or more if ur willing to pay loads of money ;) )

  • It ain't hard to figure out who were their target demographic.

  • Why is this so overblown?

  • 0:48 28k modem advertisement and this guy is running Windows 95? Strange...

  • @Ajanek

it isnt real, its just fun

  • FREE mouse pad!

  • Let's make fun of old technology, hahaha how funny.

  • this add must be fake if your running win2k (or poss XP). The "gradient" blue up the top of windows was a feature for then

Still, 10 points for 80's style cheeziness. could easy pass for a real ad. Scary thinking ads were actually in this style

  • the horizontal blue gradient was there in 95 or 98 i think, in XP they changed it to an almost solid blue bar.

I've never used 2000, so i can't say about that.

  • From 28.8kbps to 16mbps, thus is my internet life start to present. Thats a speen increase of 55,000%!!!

  • I started with a 1200 baud modem (1 kbit/s) on Commodore=64 and now have 16,000 kbit/s cable.

    That's 1.6 million percent increase.

  • BILLY MAYS ON STEROIDS!

  • lol i have 5 Mbit/s connection

  • the kids in this AD looks high on weed!!!

  • haha much agreed

  • 28k? omg! that's a fast upgrade from my 12 mbps connection! (i even get 1.50 mbps tethering on my cell, lol)

  • 28k! when was this 1970? 39 years on and we have fiber optic internet that can handle speeds of up to 100MB download.

  • 100MB were up to gigabit. u mean 100 gigabit.

    gigabit=1000mb

  • i remember being content with 56K back in the late 90s but now i get pissed if my laptop is below 54 Mbps and I want it to be much much faster

  • 54 Mbps? where the hell do you live? that's unheard of

  • is it really? I don't think it is, this is in a campus dorm- might be why. But i've gotten 100 Mbps a few times, but mine generally runs at 54.

  • @Acthulius I've got 100Mbps cable in Sydney, Australia.

  • @mubd1234 same here

  • didn't know they had tht over there or any where. what company is doing tht? (not calling you a liar or anythin just wondering)

  • Im getting shitty speeds here in USA; 16mbps. :(

I wonder why we can't get faster speeds.

  • @TheMovieLinker What the hell you lucky ass? Ever since I mvoed to Georgia I can only get up to a 3 mbps download speed.

  • @LastXdeth i dont know why u wondering when Georgia is the great east asshole of the world

  • @mubd1234

how much do you pay per month

  • @ba11askillz3 $110 for 50GB

  • 28K? That just blows my mind.I don't know if I'm ready to handle that highspeed modem

  • gay.

the 14 year old jumping around makes a potentially funny ad completely senseless and incoherent

get off the weed kids, i can't understand you

  • "youll never go on the internet the same way agian." ur right. we can get on the internet in 5sec with highspeed.(happily on a 12.0 mbps connenction)

  • this is fucking crazy!... I love it.. :)

  • No kid was given a laptop in the '90s. Like cell phones, they were a luxury to most people and the only types of people who had them were IT workers and some businessmen.

  • How intresting and relevant. You ought to stalk these kids and give them a long lecture on why what you said is right.

  • Get lost.

  • hahahaha! Thats the best shoot down I've ever read on YT! Shame I couldn't give you five stars for the comment!

  • You don't have much going on in your head do you.

  • Electrical connections? Sheesh, luxury. Acoustic Couplers where where it was at when I was a kid.

  • It was actually better to have 300 baud than nothing. It was good enough for e-mail containing rich text. Course, it would take an hour to get to a modern e-mail homepage at that speed.

  • I think I have everyone beat. After Commodore 64's there were Amiga's, then came the first pentium. I bought my first 25MHZ computer for over a thousand dollars. It came with a 2400 baud dial up modem. It used to take me 5 minutes to download a naked picture. LOL

  • My first PC was an IBM PCXT which had a 4.77Mhz CPU, 256Kb of RAM, 1 160Kb floppy drive and a monochrome (Hercules) "graphics" card. It cost me around $4200. Back then, if you wanted a modem it cost around $1000. But there was no such thing as BBS's or the internet back then.

I upgraded that to 640Kb and a 10Mb hard drive, and it cost me just shy of $1100.

I think I may have beat you :)

  • gay

  • um, these kids probably weren't even born when 28k modems were the standard. My first computer had a 14K internal modem(1995).

Good attempt at remaking an older style commercial but, I don't think the announcers would run into walls or yell with their hands in their pockets. Try again.

  • It's a joke stupid.

  • maxin and relaxin!

  • Lol...nice Winamp visualization preset.

  • ROFL !!!

  • HOly shit!! 28k!!! THat's way better than nothing! Oh wait! I'd rather have nothing!

has any one told you you look like dylan klebold?
