The guy with the beard, played by Gary Oldman is playing Sid Vicious in this video with the beard. Of course then he gets arrested and by the end he's back to looking like the Sid as we all knew him. Just a little background info about this video: Joe's said the idea for the video was to show what would've happened had Sid not died and how he fleed to Mexico after released from jail for the murder of Nancy.

(both were on the same bill) but because of that same situation, bernie rhodes (clash's manager) told mclaren and company to f... off!!!

Those other scenes in the video weren't from Sid and Nancy. Anyway, I've been looking for this song, and now I've found it. The audio could've been a lot clearer, though.

Towards the end, when he's breaking prisoners out of jail, he lets Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash out of one cell. This video was shot after The Clash broke up, so it was good to see Joe and them on good terms (?)....RIP Joe.

They where- look up the video for Mick Jones band Big Audio Dynamite's song "Medicine Show" (made in 1985-6). The two cops are Paul siminon and Joe Strummer.

i think the Clash were hyprocritical, remember Joe Strummer wearing the Brigada Rosa T-shirt in the music clip in Police and Thieves ? I think lots of Italians would have taken offence to this.
I love both bands by the way.

It was a Brigade Rosse shirt. He later apologized for wearing the shirt, saying he didn't support the group and just wanted to make people aware of them.

The Brigade Rosse are a communist leaning terrorist group in Italy, they bombed several places and they recently got incredibly close to the Italian Prime Minister ... or was it President? Whoever it was, they shot a high-ranking Cabinet member. Imagine the IRA but in Italy, it's a bit like that.

wikipedia can be edited by anyone, so you kinda have to be aware that its not always going to be 100% accurate-i once heard Myra Hindley's head exploded after eating spaghetti...

i'm italian. I was at school at the time. So, unfortunely, i dont'need wikipedia to know about them...eh..eh..eh.. Anyway, reading a couple of books is the best thing to be done. Always.

Yeah, I don't believe Wikipedia to be fully truthful ... when I was finding out about them, I read some books and asked an Italian friend who lives in Rome. It's always the most accurate way of doing it - Wikipedia will just give you a quite general idea of what something is.

although to this day they've never really figured out who killed nancy (i've always really thought sid did it.. i think he was tooo f..... up and pissed at her), supposedly neon leon (a local nyc musician) was the last one to see sid before the crap hit the fan (although the drug dealer rumour still goes around and probaly always will). read nancy spungen's book written by her mother. it will really shake you up...

an actor/dealer from hells kitchen named "rockets redglare" (google him) did it. by winess accounts , sid was passed out. rockets was there.

i know some of the stuff in "sid and nacy" is kinda crazy (johnny lydon has never wanted anything to do with it) but i still think it's a great movie. gary oldman did a terrific job. my fav seen is when they go to the methadone clinic and the guy tells them "you could have been selling healthy anarchy but you had to go and screw it up!!"
i guess the "filth and the fury" finally put some issues to bed. was nice to see lydon cry about his friend sid...

both bands knew each other but, no, they were not the best of friends. the clash hated the pistols because of sid's silly wearing of the swastika (and unfortunately siouxie sioux also wearing one..remember the bromley cintingent? the pistols fan club). anyway, there is the famous episode where the pistols wanted to use the clash's p.a. (both were on the same bill) but because of that same situation, bernie rhodes (clash's manager) told mclaren and company to f... off!!!
