Don't get me wrong, but, how can we use such chemicals without even testing them to animals before on humans, it is more wrong if we test it on humans and suffer their side effects, you as a human being, didn't you think that the DRUGS, VACCINES, MEDICINES, etc you have used to help your in daily living is tested first on animals, or you want it to be test to you

But how do you establish ED/LD50s and work in situations without extraneous variables? They both involve/can involve taking the life of an animal (but that is why there are also kosher rules for eating meat which makes it more humane), Animal Experimentation causes animals to experience unnecessary pain while still alive and without much control over what is happening. Hunting, at least they have a chance to escape, they are tortured while alive.

The point is that you can have a perfectly healthy life, in fact often healthier, without ever eating meat, the only reason you do is because you enjoy it. If we applied that logic to experimentation, ie the scientists do it because they enjoy it, would you support it then? The only difference would be that something useful occurs from experimentation, whilst nothing comes from meat.
@Saromus The number of experiments which have used animals and resulted in new medical procedures mean that a huge proportion of the planet is alive because of the knowledge gained from experimentation. If you'd ever taken part in an experiment, or even just been in a lab, you'd understand that the animals actually suffer very little. Nowadays the majority of experiments are genetic anyway, so the animals feel nothing.

They still do a lot of this stuff too, which is really depressing. It's a stupid and dated method to use, I think what they largely test on animals are the toxicity levels, which wouldn't be relevant to humans at all! It's dumb and really selfish. Since a lot of the medicine people need is because they don't take care of themselves properly. And testing is not even necessary when it comes to items of vanity. It sickens me.

Cats have higher nervous regenerative abilities than humans. So many can overcome spinal damage. The experiment I was apart of was testing for the biological pathway that caused such recovery. In my opinion this is a necessary evil. A lot is learned from stuff like this. Not all of it of course.

Animals may kill each other and do all sorts of brutal things, but it's nowhere near this level. You don't see animals purposely infecting other animals with diseases and forcing them to live weeks and even months in excruciating pain.

I think maybe this video needs renaming. As others have said, this is all very old footage, and you'd be hard pressed to find any experiments like this taking place today. Also, to the people saying that animal experimentation is wrong; If you eat meat, your opinion is invalid. Animal experimentation has led to pretty much every major breakthrough in modern medicine. But how do you establish ED/LD50s and work in situations without extraneous variables? They both involve/can involve taking the life of an animal (but that is why there are also kosher rules for eating meat which makes it more humane), Animal Experimentation causes animals to experience unnecessary pain while still alive and without much control over what is happening. Hunting, at least they have a chance to escape, they are tortured while alive.

@Saromus The number of experiments which have used animals and resulted in new medical procedures mean that a huge proportion of the planet is alive because of the knowledge gained from experimentation. If you'd ever taken part in an experiment, or even just been in a lab, you'd understand that the animals actually suffer very little. Nowadays the majority of experiments are genetic anyway, so the animals feel nothing.

It's a stupid and dated method to use, I think what they largely test on animals are the toxicity levels, which wouldn't be relevant to humans at all! It's dumb and really selfish. Since a lot of the medicine people need is because they don't take care of themselves properly. And testing is not even necessary when it comes to items of vanity. It sickens me.

As the poster does not specify the time in which these videos were taken, one can only assume from the image that these videos are no longer indicative of a modern scientific landscape. It's naive to think that vivisection doesn't exist like in this video. Just look at the cows and bulls imported from Australia to that Asian country. @prezlocker Yeah these vids look pretty old but the cat paralysis experiment still goes on today. I know first hand because I took part or more like shadowed in such an experiment. Cats have higher nervous regenerative abilities than humans. So many can overcome spinal damage. The experiment I was apart of was testing for the biological pathway that caused such recovery. In my opinion this is a necessary evil. A lot is learned from stuff like this. Not all of it of course.

Man I get tired of the same 40 year old films, why don't they produce a new one? Oh yeah, because most of this shit isn't done anymore. I worked in the labs for 31 years.Anybody, if their honest, will tell you they hate monkeys and baboons as much as I do. I refused to work on any animal except monkeys. They are by far the most stupid animal i've ever been around. They taught me to hate them!
