@TheVtieg6 im afraid the clio 197 and cup have the same power. The new clio 200 has more power due to a slight ecu tweek and and exhaust work. the "cup" packs are purely handling related on both models
@asterisp It's a matter of setting. Cup chassis has harder suspension and a more direct steer than a stardard clio RS. In Italy it costs 600 euros but you can have it for free if you buy the clio RS light.
@tinaomina mostly they are american, they think that ken cock is the best driver in the world lmao you cant blame them can you? they dont realise Tiff sometimes even does the stigs job also lol
@Myungsuperstarrockey Yeah- unlike the previous R53 model, you can't tune the Cooper S up to full JCW soec as too muh is different e.g. turbo, gearbox and engine internals, brakes, suspension etc.
even if the mini didnt win this its potentially a much better car, check out the videos of the mini gp on the nurberg ring overtaking porshe gt3s and 911 turbos
@joshuasteffen Yeah. Or they were just boxters. Without the 5th and 6th cillinder option. With an old man driving. Half-blind.
Or it was just fake.
The mini may look cool and the jcw cool (I say cool because it's not really good) on a track, but it's no match for a clio rs cup (I mean, even the rear drivetrain does not have an auto-lock system). And moreover for any porsche better than a carrera S. Don't trust youtube on cars. Drive em, or read (not top gear, if possible)
I have the mini cooper S John Cooper works and it's pretty good. The interior is ugly, the gears have a stiff shift to them, the clutch is not racing and the driver position is not really fit for anyone but midgets. I say its good cuz the handling and overall performance is good.
@LMF5000 a racing clutch will cost more, but it will provide better grip on the flywheel, and much more holding power.it is also designed to take the abuse of racing better than a regular clutch will.a regular clutch is designed just for getting around with no major use.many times offroaders, and people that do long hauls with a regular truck will use a high performance clutch in place of a regular clutch, because of the higher performance, and its ability to shrug off the stress better
@Theyersinia Hey, thanks for replying, but I don't understand how you can have "better grip", because if the stock clutch already has enough grip to completely lock the flywheel to the friction plate, and keep them locked without slipping even with the engine at full throttle, how can you get a clutch that grips better than that? Won't the result be exactly the same (i.e. zero slippage with the clutch pedal completely released)?
just admit tht the clio won, like jeez the minis interior is overdone it looks like shit the clio is better and french cars arent driven by chics anyway mini is cooler as its cheaper and better bitches
To be honest, I`m not the biggest fan of the normal Mini but I really like the Clubman version. I`d even drive a Clubman S :-)! I like the idea of a small car that looks like a panel van.

As Ive sed many a times, a BMW!!!!!! mini, is a hairdressers car and is no way neer the car the ENGLISH mini was or still is now. All this proves again, BMW have failed with their lil maxi!
Had the old Cooper S Works this week, as my 197 was at the bodyshop. I'm just glad I took the 197. The engine in the Cooper is great (at least the old compressor-aided one that's in the old Mini, I drove the turbo in the 207RC and found it had a more nervous character), but the steering is very heavy (though you don't get more feedback) as is the shifting. Under steer and torque steer too.
And in Holland the Cooper S with some extra's cost €7500 more than a regular full-options 197...
Agreed - I am actually going to the ring in 10 days! Round here though on the roads I haven't got under 24mpg yet, and I have been giving it some big time stick ;-) The engine is just so addictive :D
LCR is a fine cruiser, and when remapped, plenty fast, but a chuckable, nimble hot hatch like these two, it is not. Round a track like Cadwell the Clio would lap quicker than the Leon, as it has a lot of tricky corners.
We can really see how superior the clio is, tiff had dificult in controling the mini, instead the clio looked allways in control, better, the clio driver did "drifting" in some curves, super.:)
He did say no matter how many laps he did he couldn't beat the Clio - they just show the most 'exciting' laps on TV for entertainment value. The stop watch is just a prop too, the actual timing is done properly with the standard timing loop system at the circuits. You'd expect the Clio Cup to be faster on the track than the Mini though - it's more track focused where the Mini is much more of an all roader.

e32amgfinatic 3 years ago 2

I OWN one a Renault Clio Cup and they are Continental Eco Contact 3 Tires.
stumac1985 3 years ago
omg, yes sure!!! your bloody car is at stock!!! im talking about this testvideo up here. i have a copy of it at home where u cn see those tires ive spoken from.
chewiedawookie 3 years ago
YAWN! Bored of this argument now. Mini is a fabulous car, but the Cup is more track orientated. End of story tbh. No special tires.

And in Holland the Cooper S with some extra's cost €7500 more than a regular full-options 197...

thing is though is that the clio does 8 miles to the gallen when you are giving it some punishment so i would have the Seat Leon Cupra R (2002-2005)
MarkFoster1991 3 years ago
Where did you get that from? (8mpg)
Mine averaged 19.5mpg round the nurburgring two weeks ago. Hardly great but it's a lot more than 8!
drumdone 3 years ago 5
Agreed - I am actually going to the ring in 10 days! Round here though on the roads I haven't got under 24mpg yet, and I have been giving it some big time stick ;-) The engine is just so addictive :D

LCR is a fine cruiser, and when remapped, plenty fast, but a chuckable, nimble hot hatch like these two, it is not. Round a track like Cadwell the Clio would lap quicker than the Leon, as it has a lot of tricky corners.

The oldest name of Renault Sport is Alpine. Needless to say more.

We can really see how superior the clio is, tiff had dificult in controling the mini, instead the clio looked allways in control, better, the clio driver did "drifting" in some curves, super.:)
Renaultsport all way.
rubenvalente 3 years ago 3
to be fair though tiff did some terrible driving in comparrison to what he capable of.

He did say no matter how many laps he did he couldn't beat the Clio - they just show the most 'exciting' laps on TV for entertainment value. The stop watch is just a prop too, the actual timing is done properly with the standard timing loop system at the circuits. You'd expect the Clio Cup to be faster on the track than the Mini though - it's more track focused where the Mini is much more of an all roader.

lol tiff always bad loser, me and freinds asked for his autograph affter a race that he lost, and he refused us :(
