@gravediggermax Hokkaido island where I live has many brown bears. And I cannot carry guns outside the hunting season. So I carry bells to let them know we are close and a pepper spray against their attack. Thanks.
@virtuovice ...yes, i thought as much, when we hunt for civil war relics in certain areas of the woods, we carry "M-80"s".....small like firecrackers with us....some do anyway......i think pepper spray would be good, thanks for the new plan.
@TexWiller45Lc I use UFM UEDA Super Pulser 8 feet 5 pieced pack rod to carry in my rucksack. I use DAIWA LOCHMOR X 100 small reel to take DT-4-F line. Japanese river is narrow. They are old tackles for trout anglers bought 20 years ago. Thanks.
I come back to this video every now and then when I need some peace of mind. The serene setting and the quiet way you and your family interact is very calming. Thanks again for sharing Wako, and all the best to you and your family.
Aloha Wako san. Kono video wa ichiban tanoshikatta. Your mountains, and streams are very beautiful. Boku no okaasan nakunatte kara Nihongo wa mo immari kikoi nai. Nice to hear Japanese spoken and know I haven't forgotten the language. Your family very good sports loving the outdoors like their otousan. VERY nice Iwana you're catching! Musume chan wa sugoi jibun de sakana wo kitte. 8-) Oishisou! Shioyaki daisuki. Iwana wa Yamame yori motto oishi? Thank you.
@MrLorenzotrigueros you only want to be silent when you are hunting. When you are just camping and want to enjoy the outdoors or not be any danger, some people like to wear bear bells or predator bells. The ringing sound is very irritating to predators like the asian black bear that lives in Japan and many other predators. Here in America ...like me I am from Michigan the Deer hunting capital of the world, sometimes on nature walks we use them because of wild dogs and bear etc etc.
Hey From Canada,Great video. You and your family went well prepared for camping. The fish looked like very good to eat and the location was beautiful,,,Thanks
@gotcalves Yes, I have. My self convexed SOG seal pup elite knife is made of AUS8. I have always used it for skinning deer heads for making trophies. It stays effectively sharp for two heads, and then it goes uselessly dull. But its convex edge is easy to resharpen with stropping. My Enzo Trapper SS is made of AUS8 too. Its Scandi edge stays sharp at least for a single deer. AUS8 is not bad, and only the 8Cr13Mov is really bad in my deer dressing experience. Thanks.
i would love to come to japan and go camping with you as i teach bush craft and i could learn more about your knife sharpening skills and fishing as you got loads of fish
Wonderful family trip. Where in Japan were youp at? Is it public land, park land or private? I love to campbut I live near the coast and must drive 4 hours to go anywhere like the location you were at.
@mccullenj I live on Hokkaido the north island. It is a public land 3 hours away from the city by car. It is a bears' land and the road to there is broken. So we must walk long in the forest and few people can get there. Thanks.
It looks like an amazing time, however I'm scared to watch you fillet fish like that, do you think next time maybe a fillet would be better? A few times I thought for sure you were going to cut yourself, my wife was thinkin this as well, anyway it looks like an amazing time :) !!! The spyderco salt is waiting in my amazon cart lol
@1911bladeguy No. I guess they live in rivers on the mainland. They need clear and cold water. So their population is very low and they are protected very carefully.
@traderjoes It is Casio Pro Trek PRW2000A. It has wider display than usual and its atmospheric pressure trend graph is useful to see how the weather will go. It has a strong solar charging system and will serve me until the liquid crystal gets wrong. Its compass function is very useful to me in snowy mountains. But it doesn't work properly under very low temperature. So I keep it under a jacket sleeve there. Thanks.
What a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing with us. Your daughter's knife skills are very impressive for a girl her age. What a beautiful family you have. You must be very proud of them. I love it!!!
Teaching children wilderness survival skills gives them a sense of confidence and independence, so they can find success in later life and not become parasaito shinguru!
Your videos keep getting better and better. May I make an humble suggestion. Would love to see your take on Tokyo. You would be the Japanese Crocodile Diundee. LOL. Take care.
Great video, I love camping my self but sometimes it's hard to find time to do it. By the way have you tried taking a machete to trips like this one. They would help greatly. Just a thought. I come from a country that a machete is used for everything and when used right become very helpful. :-)
Great trip, Wako! I and my girlfriend were on the same kind of trip two daws ago - tent near the mountain river, fishing, swiming, fire making and knife testing - great relax for me ...
Great video! Thank you for inviting us to explore your beautiful country. It's a amazing that you can set up camp a few feet away from the river and within no time have enough trout to have a wonderful dinner with your family.
I want to be doing this so bad when I see your vid. Lovely surrounding and everything one needs is available with a little knowledege and effort! Great family time.
Japan is so beautiful! I would have loved to explore the sedimentary rock wall opposite your camp for fossils in the layers. You have a lovely family Wako, and I wish my wife would want to go into the woods and camp with me. Again, you are a lucky man!
well i have watched many of your videos today waiting for the super bowl on come and i think, my opinion for me, this is one of your best.
you really have a good time with your family......camping, fishing, eating, so many fine things.
i have one question, i see and hear a small bell on belt, what is the purpose of this bell?
i can not believe i say a saw........you with a saw, not right...funny.
great place to camp and catche and eat fish.
see ya my friend
