much as I love the music of kasai and konono, I would have to say that, in the case of amy winehouse, you could not be more wrong:

although a troubled person, she has the most distinctive female singing voice in crossover (and I mean jazz-pop) to come along in many, many years.

that girl is talented beyond belief and it is to be hoped that she finds full expression sometime in the future.

as for all the others you mention, you`re right of course - and you can add the likes of lady gaga, too!
